I think people get so blown away that Scott's bass is so good he cover's Matt and Avi's parts that they forget that he has a 4 Octave range that goes from a low G#1 all the way up to a high G#1, he's pretty incredible.💜
They are mashup masters! Their musical creativity and arranging is spectacular. There are many good singers out there, even great ones. And many clever groups. But there is a reason that this group has grammys for arranging, in a category that had to be renamed to fit them in. The level of musicality, knowledge and creativity needed to solve the puzzles they do is mind blowing! They are all killing it in this one for sure! I love everything they do and I specifically do not listen to pop music. Most of the newer pop I only know from them, I've never even heard the original songs. Everyone is entitled to their favorites, but it's a bummer when a reactor gets tunnel vision and misses someone else's moment. For the record, you usually don't but many reactors do. When I see a particular reactor with a particular bias has reacted to a particular song, it's sad when I can accurately predict that they will lose their minds over X and completely miss Y. One of the things I love about PTX is the way they all lift each other up. I don't know why we can't make an effort to do the same for them.
This! Someone becoming a good singer, my mind can comprehend how that works. Training, work, talent, choices. It seems doable in my mind. The creative choices and arrangements on the other hand? That musical ear? That just is magic to me! And I consider myself a creative person with loads of ability to come up with stuff. But the level they do it to is almost miraculous! So freaking impressive!
This is one of my absolute favorites, and it's one of the best examples of how sophisticated their arrangements can be, along with New Rules x Are You That Somebody. They create so many electronic sounds and effects in this one, and it's so well thought out and beautiful.

About Mitch's tattoos: Did he just cover the Spongebob tattoo with a huge black splotch like it seems on the Making of Evergreen, or is there some sort of a pattern on it? I love all of PTX, but Mitchy has been my fav from day one! I love his skyhigh Tenor voice, its pure joy to my ears!!!! And I like it most when Scott and Mitch sing together, they were just born to do so, and it's amazing, every single time. This is one of my all-time favorites - the intricate sounds in the background. They did a live version for a radio station that is really good if you want to check it out (there is one part I feel the mics aren't set right, but it is still amazing).

I love how many rock/metal/punk type fans PTX has. But I have noticed that the overlap between opera/broadway/classical singers and musicians and metal/rock is waaaaay bigger than one would assume at first glance. The level of talent and musicality needed for either garners much respect even when the "vibe" might not be what you're usually in to.
Said it before and I’m saying it again. The ultimate in their ability to “reinvent” a song is their rendition of I Need Your Love. The original is truly 💩 and their version is simply beautiful and moving.
I actually had to check out the original, because I couldn't remember ever having heard it. I think Ellie Golding is normally ok, but I have to agree with you. The arrangement is pretty awful (I know very little about chord progressions, but that is not the one I would have chosen) and Ellie sounds too nasal. The Pentatonix version is far superior.
As far as Scott's jackets..this was broke PTX Era the often rewore clothes and shared clothes. I've seen Avi and Scott wearing the same shirt. I'm sure they still rewear clothes maybe just not in music videos.
They still do it sometimes I think. I remember Kirstin and Matt wearing the same shirt for VIP before shows. They all share the same stylist, and I'm not even sure all the clothes belong to them. Likely some belong to her. So some stuff might get repeated here and there. But you're right. That was before big budget ptx, haha.
Yes, they have a stylist now and Mitch has some sort of a deal with Balenciaga. I think there is also a pretty big difference between the clothes they wear when performing and the ones they wear for studio/soundcheck etc. They look "normal" when they're not being pop divas.

With Pentatonix it's *always* a team effort. Mitch is incredible, but his vocals are supported by the background harmonies and the percussion. Kevin is amazing (I've no idea how he does what he does), but percussion alone does not make a song. Kirstie, Scott, and Avi are all perfect in their parts, but neither a few solos nor background harmonies are enough, by themselves, to make an entire song. "Penta" means "five." Five notes in a pentatonic scale, each of which can be the tonic note. Five performers in Pentatonix, each of whom can be *_a_* favorite. But *_the_* favorite is always the whole - Pentatonix.
I totally get you here. A LOT of the covers they do, I didn't like the original song. I think there's only been one cover they've done that I actually preferred the original and that had a lot more to do with the context of the song. And there's been one where I just hate the original so much that I can't listen to their version. It was too irredeemable even for them to save.

I love how many rock/metal/punk type fans PTX has. But I have noticed that the overlap between opera/broadway/classical singers and musicians and metal/rock is waaaaay bigger than one would assume at first glance. The level of talent and musicality needed for either garners much respect even when the "vibe" might not be what you're usually in to.

Said it before and I’m saying it again. The ultimate in their ability to “reinvent” a song is their rendition of I Need Your Love. The original is truly 💩 and their version is simply beautiful and moving.
I actually had to check out the original, because I couldn't remember ever having heard it. I think Ellie Golding is normally ok, but I have to agree with you. The arrangement is pretty awful (I know very little about chord progressions, but that is not the one I would have chosen) and Ellie sounds too nasal. The Pentatonix version is far superior.
I know you like Super Fruit like the rest of us Pentaholics...but you need to check out Deny U from Scott and Mitch....Oh my goodness!
As far as Scott's jackets..this was broke PTX Era the often rewore clothes and shared clothes. I've seen Avi and Scott wearing the same shirt. I'm sure they still rewear clothes maybe just not in music videos.
They still do it sometimes I think. I remember Kirstin and Matt wearing the same shirt for VIP before shows. They all share the same stylist, and I'm not even sure all the clothes belong to them. Likely some belong to her. So some stuff might get repeated here and there. But you're right. That was before big budget ptx, haha.
Yes, they have a stylist now and Mitch has some sort of a deal with Balenciaga. I think there is also a pretty big difference between the clothes they wear when performing and the ones they wear for studio/soundcheck etc. They look "normal" when they're not being pop divas.

Mitch is my favorite. They all good but there is just something about mitch
With Pentatonix it's *always* a team effort. Mitch is incredible, but his vocals are supported by the background harmonies and the percussion. Kevin is amazing (I've no idea how he does what he does), but percussion alone does not make a song. Kirstie, Scott, and Avi are all perfect in their parts, but neither a few solos nor background harmonies are enough, by themselves, to make an entire song.
"Penta" means "five." Five notes in a pentatonic scale, each of which can be the tonic note. Five performers in Pentatonix, each of whom can be *_a_* favorite. But *_the_* favorite is always the whole - Pentatonix.
They don't "cover" songs, they UPgrade them.

I have yet to see a performance by them that isn't amazing. Though I like some of every genre, there is no genre that I like every song.

I totally get you here. A LOT of the covers they do, I didn't like the original song. I think there's only been one cover they've done that I actually preferred the original and that had a lot more to do with the context of the song. And there's been one where I just hate the original so much that I can't listen to their version. It was too irredeemable even for them to save.
Well if it helps, they redeemed my wedding song for me, after getting divorced after 17 years of marriage. They can work miracles. :D (Can't Help Falling In Love)
No matter how good they are, they can't make me like J/K-Pop.
I hated and loathed both Hallelujah and Imagine, both over played and over done. But boy, then came PTX. Enough said.
@@anitaslack9193 That's a little odd... I don't know much about it, but saying you don't like J-pop is like saying you don't like American pop. J/K-pop is not a specific genre. It's more a way to say it's pop from that region. Ofc every region has some unique things to them, but like... just like the rest of the world there is pop-punk j-pop and bubblegum pop k-pop and soul/r&b j-pop etc. Might not want to write off whole countries music scenes...
@@hernameispekka_Rebecca I don't like gangster rap, freeform jazz, or Norwegian folk metal either. What's your point? If a genre of music is, in general, unpleasing to my ear then I will dislike it. That's how music preference works. I have yet to find an example of J-pop or K-pop that I enjoyed listening to. Don't worry, there's plenty of American pop that I find equally annoying. Like I said, I dislike most of the original songs that PTX covered.

LOL This is STILL one of my favorites...it's also the one where Kirstie became my favorite and then Mitch became my favorite, then Scott...crap...depends on who's singing at the time. Love them all. Avi's bass run Holy!! Then I forgot there was no instrument ...it was Kevin...just the background singing on this one is totally insane. It just comes down to 5 people perfectly meant to do what they do. Kirstie still my fav but I think that's a Celeb crush thing 👀
