The coach says he doesn't think about player rotation, but rather the whole squad of players are conditioned to compete in every three to four days, and his job is to select the players that are in the best condition in accordance with the tactical requirements on the day. I love this philosophy, it explains why Pirates is consistent in their tactical approach, which allows for improvement of the team and the individual players. It also explains why, inevitably there will be deserving players who will not get a fair opportunity to compete. In the latter case, the squad will need to have a high turnover of transfers, which is nothing new at Orlando Pirates, but unlike we have seen before Jose Riveiro and his philosophy, the team will retain its progress with each transfer window. I never thought about this. We are blessed with a very good coach for the long run. Hopefully the club retains him for many more seasons. He could take Orlando Pirates to new hights.
Pirates must not undermine the next game against the Algerians. It will be very difficult because the Algerians will be fighting to keep themselves in the competition. Their win against Ahly brought them back to competition. Their last game will be a home game against Ivorians.
In this era, there is no Pirates without Hotto. Even on a bad day that guy will give you performance to be proud about.
