This game is one of the best. Even with a bad start, everything has changed since then. I'm really proud of the developer team. They did such a great job with this masterpiece!

I can't wait!!! For those of you that weren't around when the game released, this type of customization is what we all Day 1 pirates have been playing for! Maybe for some, it isn't a big deal, but for people that love the game like me, having a ship that I feel is unique is something that is finally worth of grinding
it was supposed to be the first update but the game had of lack of content in the endgame problems back then and so it was pushed back so long and only know they're ready
I was actually talking with my friends about a month or two ago about how cool it would be to name our ship and to make a logbook of all of our adventures just for fun, and I’m so glad to see these features ACTUALLY getting added to the game. I love Sea Of Thieves, such a fun and community-loving game

Literally yesterday, I was doing a commodity run, and I was thinking to myself "dang, I wish there was a harpoon on the dock so that I can do this easier" AND MY PRAYERS HAVE BEEN ANSWERED
If they do easier for you.... less oportunities for others to attack you..... 15 seconds respawn instead 30..... they are destroying this game. Sea of noobs
Such quality of life upgrades, I love it. I'm still however just waiting for being able to change your ships live in game so you don't have to load an entire new session when friends come and go.
@@abyssSpartan It is possible tho. They can make another gamemode within arena that would be called Arena Ranked. In arena ranked its basically arena but with ranked system, and ranked rewards. They can do this just like how other games do it such as overwatch, valorant, league of legend etc.

Just so everyone is fully aware one thing that rare conveniently left out is that once a ship is named you must go to the emporium and spend ancient coin to rename it
OR! get a new ship for just in game coin and not have to worry! you wouldnt happen to be the insider who a while back openly stated this fact against NDA would you? because if you are thats still a great way to get stripped of insiders or sued! still, you dont NEED to rename a ship, just get another one if your regretting the ships name

Definitely best update so far, so many things we wanted from launch plus more! Sovereign thing seems interesting so we'll see how that pans out. Definitely going to make a video about this one.
@@astrorialunaris idk about the decoration part but in the trailer it shows it at 2:26 with the ancient scales starting at class/grade 1, it would be safe to assume that each fish would get its own trophy decoration once you collected a certain amount of a certain fish, hopefully most of these will be unlocked retroactively because I know the people who fully completed hunters call will be losing their minds if they have to fish all over again
More customization is always nice, but I don't think "There are more cosmetics to grind now." will convince any of my friends to try the game again. The world of Sea of Thieves is so beautiful. It needs more stuff worth doing in it.
We haven't played the game for many weeks for the same reason, we need some proper Tall Tales or other "real" content instead, such a unqiue game with no competition and most that's being pumped out is cosmetics and customisation.
@@SPARTAN99997 The moment you add something to gain that isn't cosmetic, is the moment you get a game that immediately becomes unbalanced. The reason why it works is even if you encounter another player who is better, you are basically still on even footing. Getting upgrades, new weapons, or whatever else you guys are hinting at would just make it unfair for newer players.

The moment you add unlockable weapons or skills or something, the long time players will instantly dominate new players who will have no chance without those upgrades. Dogshit balancing idea.
Amazing update! Great to see some some drastic changues in the good way. Now we need a third person, at least just for walking or run, not necesary every action on the game but will be cool if you actually can see your character with his skin or style. Curious how milestone progress will work if you're sailing with a friend and you both have your own separate captain ships but you just happen to be sailing on their ship for that session.
Seems like milestones are basically commendations but with stats. Think it will all be individual except for selling loot and how the game handles killing enemies with others. Like you personally dug up treasure, caught fish, captured that pig ect ect.
Well you know how when you load into a session or you start a session and the game names someone captain. I think that's how it'll work, whoever captain

No they do not basically just sneakily resetting everyone by having old veteran players despite having done more, start at the exact same spot as a new player whilst disguising the same exact commendations previously done as ‘milestones’

Looks great! I really hope in the future we could get these challenges for trinkets also go for ship cosmetics. Because I’d like to have 1-2 sets in gold and then 1-2 challenge sets you have to complete a challenge for before paying gold for. That way, I want a magma grail set? I have to do 25 devils roar Athena’s quests or something that makes the set unique or hard to get. Because Sot is really missing those challenge sets as not every season gives you missions or a tall tale to complete. :/
Now all you have to worry about is trying to make outposts seem more like mutual ground. To where you could see one or two ships parked there and still go to drop off your self. It would make out posts seem more alive. And imagine the shenanigans that could happen.
This update is in my opinion a slap in the face for people who grinded out the game. I kinda wished some of the progression you saved from previous season would apply here (they do track everything u did in the game, at the end of the year you can see everything u did to this point). But no, we have to do everything all over again. I think this update is only nice for newer players. Guess i'm just going to finish the season pass and drop the game and wait for the next season.
This is awesome, but I think restricting renaming your ship to a Pirate Emporium purchase is a fairly bad idea. People either won't purchase a ship for a long time out of fear of giving it a bad name, or they'll waste their one free shot the first time and regret what they go with. It should be like pets, where you can rename it whenever you wish at a shipwright I think.
Ancient coins are technically free as long as the name change doesn't cost 2000 ancient coins. I like it as it makes you think more of what you name it and prevents constant changes.
This way you actually have to give it some thought and refrain from calling your ship The Poop Deck or The Maidenless Voyage.. ok no one take those, I might just do that.

I have one Question. Does your Crew level their Milestones simultaneously with the Owner of the Ship, or do u have to now do everything four Times (because every body needs to buy thier own ship) so everybody can get the unlockable Cosmetics and Stuff ?
Since they showed “pirate milestones” and “ship milestones” I think that whatever you or your crew does, will be only tied to that ship and pirate, so I’m guessing if you aren’t the captain currently, but get on your ship after, the pirate milestones will save, but not the ship ones, since you were on a different captained ship. If that makes any sense
@@ty_tgm you right, ship milestones and its unlockables are for that one ship only. If you play on your friends ship, you dont get rewarded and you have to do the milesstones again on your own ship to unlock what ever...
The pirate milestones are for you no matter whos captained ship you sail on and the ship milestones are for your ship. So 1 time for the pirate but 4 for the ship.
Wdym? they aren't adding any new mechanics, they are adding cosmetics and the ability to name your ship. There isn't any new voyage or content in this update.

i love the quality of life updates here but i wish these were more of an addition than the main focuss. What i'm personally really looking for in SOT is new open world challenges like the meg and kraken because both of these are rare spawns and the skeleton ships are just about the only NPC sea encounter you'll find. ( asside from players of course ) I think more enemy types and sea monsters will benefit the game well and i'm hoping to see them soon. But the update is cool can't wait to name my ship!
You are not serious about megs and kraken being rare spawn? Kraken attacks me almost everytime when I log in to game and leave the dock. Megs are so common it gets annoying sometimes not being able to sail anywhere without encountering at least one meg.

What the hell are you on about ‘kraken attacks are almost every time’ are we even playing the same game? 😂megs are still pretty rare as well, we’ve only encountered 3 out of the month we’ve been playing together. I think new events would be great! Not just more events in the sea but more wildlife as well to make the sea more alive because that’s the only downside to SoT atm, in the ocean itself.. it’s just too bare. You fall off the ship and there’s just nothing around you but water? Where’s the jellyfish? Where’s the turtles? Whales? Dolphins? Gosh, even where is the fish? There’s just nothing and ruins the beauty of the game sometimes

Now I'm starting to think kraken has something against me because doesn't matter am I playing solo or with friends. 😂 Kraken attacks only if there is no world events going on so if you want to fight it then go sail in deep waters when there is no world events (skelly fleet, forts, ashen winds etc). For me megs are too common. Then again I spend most of my time sailing in deep waters where they can spawn and not near any land. There's also few spots where megs will definitely spawn if someone didn't kill it yet. Two such spots are south from Plunder Outpost and north-west of Golden Sands Outpost. There's more of course, but I won't write a list 😂 I agree we need more wildlife.
I would be great for future updates, when you can build your own island together with your crew. Its randomly spawnt on the map. On the Island, you can create your own house and build other buildungs like tavern. This would be a great reason to grind this game for long time.

Looks amazing, thank you devs for the hard work and dedication, and continuous updates! That said... Can we please get a wildlife update?? I'd love to see schools of fish when you jump in the deep ocean, or even whales!! Maybe even other areas if you guys could manage it, like snowy ice islands to oppose the ashen islands. Or just big towns like the pirates missions had, I'd love a huge npc populated area to be like the "main" area on the map
About 4 seasons too late after these things were requested 6 seasons ago. I literally could not get my friends to log in to try this out if I held them at blunderbuss-point. Oh well. Glad you lot finally got around to adding some QoL that players wanted, hope the ones who still play enjoy it. 👍
Really cool that you can soon add more decoration to your ship, what I still wish for is Lord Cutler Beckett as a skin, he's the only one who still lacks life from Pirates.
@@verex6247 That's true but the new features could prove to be truly game changing especially towards PVP as well as giving the game a little bit of a new feel to it seeing that right at the outpost you have quite a few new things to explore. It can also account for some interesting moments amongst your crew and encounters with other crews.
Love that the scars are visible troughout sessions. But one thing that i don't understand. Why would anybody sell to any regular faction now? If we can all just quicksell for free? Edit: I obviously didnt pay enough attention. This is only available to captain ships. So i guess that makes sense now :)
Well, only Captains can use the Sovereigns. Players that only sail on a normal ship still need to use the normal npcs. Also the Sovereigns dont work with the Reapers.
A lot of cool stuff. I had hoped the decorations would be things you could find in the world rather than based on achievements, but it still looks interesting.
The main thing I'm happy about is the reasonable gold costs for the ships - I was afraid Rare might push it up into the millions, but thankfully it seems they've found other ways to add "gold sinks" into this update.
Been with this from the start. It's been a pleasure watching it grow into the behemoth it has become. I can't think of another multiplayer game that I've enjoyed more and I've been gaming since 1985.
4:07 so... i did the math and with them being at sea for 42 days (1 sea of thieves day cycle is 48 minutes) meaning.. THEY HAVE BEEN AT SEA FOR 33.6 REAL LIFE HOURS. AND HAVE ONLY ACCOMPLISHED 17 NAUTICAL MILES, 13,000 GOLD, 8 QUESTS, AND HAVE ONLY CAUGHT 4 FISH.
I feel this is a great updates for solo sloopers. So many new things to focus on and achieve. And gives you a reason to pvp too. It seems like this is going to be a great update.
Absolutely! The harpoon at The Sovereign's dock will greatly limit the amount of time spent at each outpost ferrying loot, giving more time to sail. Amazing.
You make a good point but as a solo slooper I had the opposite reaction, this made me wish I had a crew to play with even more. Though maybe that's just cos I always wish that
@@-the-butterfly-effect-7585 I suggest you join the official SOT discord, people are looking for crews all the time and so far I haven't had a bad encounter with the people there and even managed to find my own crew that I regularly sail with. You can usually find people all around the clock so timezones shouldnt be a problem and there are also no mic channels if you are not comfortable speaking/dont have a mic.
As a solo slooper not excited at all about more reasons to PvP. I used to be able to sell and they’d frigg off, now people will be after logbooks. Thanks Rare.
So question if the soverigns just give us all the same money and rewards? What would ever be the point to go to the actual other tents? I feel like there needs to be a incentive to not only use the soverigns though it is a cool idea none the less!

We haven't played the game for many weeks for the same reason, we need some proper Tall Tales or other "real" content instead, such a unqiue game with no competition and most that's being pumped out is cosmetics and customisation.
@@SPARTAN99997 The moment you add something to gain that isn't cosmetic, is the moment you get a game that immediately becomes unbalanced. The reason why it works is even if you encounter another player who is better, you are basically still on even footing. Getting upgrades, new weapons, or whatever else you guys are hinting at would just make it unfair for newer players.

Amazing update! Great to see some some drastic changues in the good way. Now we need a third person, at least just for walking or run, not necesary every action on the game but will be cool if you actually can see your character with his skin or style. Love this game, im happy to see the developers are adding and evolving things
Curious how milestone progress will work if you're sailing with a friend and you both have your own separate captain ships but you just happen to be sailing on their ship for that session.
I think Milestones are tied to each captained ship, so you and your friend will have different milestones for your individual ships
Seems like milestones are basically commendations but with stats. Think it will all be individual except for selling loot and how the game handles killing enemies with others. Like you personally dug up treasure, caught fish, captured that pig ect ect.
Well you know how when you load into a session or you start a session and the game names someone captain. I think that's how it'll work, whoever captain

No they do not basically just sneakily resetting everyone by having old veteran players despite having done more, start at the exact same spot as a new player whilst disguising the same exact commendations previously done as ‘milestones’

Looks great! I really hope in the future we could get these challenges for trinkets also go for ship cosmetics. Because I’d like to have 1-2 sets in gold and then 1-2 challenge sets you have to complete a challenge for before paying gold for. That way, I want a magma grail set? I have to do 25 devils roar Athena’s quests or something that makes the set unique or hard to get. Because Sot is really missing those challenge sets as not every season gives you missions or a tall tale to complete. :/
Now all you have to worry about is trying to make outposts seem more like mutual ground. To where you could see one or two ships parked there and still go to drop off your self. It would make out posts seem more alive. And imagine the shenanigans that could happen.
This update is in my opinion a slap in the face for people who grinded out the game. I kinda wished some of the progression you saved from previous season would apply here (they do track everything u did in the game, at the end of the year you can see everything u did to this point). But no, we have to do everything all over again. I think this update is only nice for newer players. Guess i'm just going to finish the season pass and drop the game and wait for the next season.
This is awesome, but I think restricting renaming your ship to a Pirate Emporium purchase is a fairly bad idea. People either won't purchase a ship for a long time out of fear of giving it a bad name, or they'll waste their one free shot the first time and regret what they go with. It should be like pets, where you can rename it whenever you wish at a shipwright I think.
They're trying to make it harder to change so people really think about their names and dont make them offensive or rude.

Ancient coins are technically free as long as the name change doesn't cost 2000 ancient coins. I like it as it makes you think more of what you name it and prevents constant changes.
This way you actually have to give it some thought and refrain from calling your ship The Poop Deck or The Maidenless Voyage.. ok no one take those, I might just do that.

Since they showed “pirate milestones” and “ship milestones” I think that whatever you or your crew does, will be only tied to that ship and pirate, so I’m guessing if you aren’t the captain currently, but get on your ship after, the pirate milestones will save, but not the ship ones, since you were on a different captained ship. If that makes any sense
@@ty_tgm you right, ship milestones and its unlockables are for that one ship only. If you play on your friends ship, you dont get rewarded and you have to do the milesstones again on your own ship to unlock what ever...
The pirate milestones are for you no matter whos captained ship you sail on and the ship milestones are for your ship. So 1 time for the pirate but 4 for the ship.

Wdym? they aren't adding any new mechanics, they are adding cosmetics and the ability to name your ship. There isn't any new voyage or content in this update.

i love the quality of life updates here but i wish these were more of an addition than the main focuss.
What i'm personally really looking for in SOT is new open world challenges like the meg and kraken because both of these are rare spawns and the skeleton ships are just about the only NPC sea encounter you'll find. ( asside from players of course )
I think more enemy types and sea monsters will benefit the game well and i'm hoping to see them soon.
But the update is cool can't wait to name my ship!
You are not serious about megs and kraken being rare spawn? Kraken attacks me almost everytime when I log in to game and leave the dock. Megs are so common it gets annoying sometimes not being able to sail anywhere without encountering at least one meg.

What the hell are you on about ‘kraken attacks are almost every time’ are we even playing the same game? 😂megs are still pretty rare as well, we’ve only encountered 3 out of the month we’ve been playing together. I think new events would be great! Not just more events in the sea but more wildlife as well to make the sea more alive because that’s the only downside to SoT atm, in the ocean itself.. it’s just too bare. You fall off the ship and there’s just nothing around you but water? Where’s the jellyfish? Where’s the turtles? Whales? Dolphins? Gosh, even where is the fish? There’s just nothing and ruins the beauty of the game sometimes

Now I'm starting to think kraken has something against me because doesn't matter am I playing solo or with friends. 😂 Kraken attacks only if there is no world events going on so if you want to fight it then go sail in deep waters when there is no world events (skelly fleet, forts, ashen winds etc). For me megs are too common. Then again I spend most of my time sailing in deep waters where they can spawn and not near any land. There's also few spots where megs will definitely spawn if someone didn't kill it yet. Two such spots are south from Plunder Outpost and north-west of Golden Sands Outpost. There's more of course, but I won't write a list 😂 I agree we need more wildlife.

I would be great for future updates, when you can build your own island together with your crew. Its randomly spawnt on the map. On the Island, you can create your own house and build other buildungs like tavern. This would be a great reason to grind this game for long time.
Pirates don’t live on islands.

@@verex6247 That's true but the new features could prove to be truly game changing especially towards PVP as well as giving the game a little bit of a new feel to it seeing that right at the outpost you have quite a few new things to explore. It can also account for some interesting moments amongst your crew and encounters with other crews.

Well not free, it does require you to be a captain (have bought a ship).

Well, only Captains can use the Sovereigns. Players that only sail on a normal ship still need to use the normal npcs. Also the Sovereigns dont work with the Reapers.

Captaincy went from sailing out of a Epic waterfall from your own pirate cove when starting the game, to being able to move around chairs on Islands 😅

bro the difference can't be noticed unless you focus on it, which is really disappointing as we worked hard in the courage event for the boots.
A lot of cool stuff. I had hoped the decorations would be things you could find in the world rather than based on achievements, but it still looks interesting.

The main thing I'm happy about is the reasonable gold costs for the ships - I was afraid Rare might push it up into the millions, but thankfully it seems they've found other ways to add "gold sinks" into this update.

Not necessarily. If your ship sinks because of PvE elements, that log book would still be floating.

Been with this from the start. It's been a pleasure watching it grow into the behemoth it has become. I can't think of another multiplayer game that I've enjoyed more and I've been gaming since 1985.
4:07 so... i did the math and with them being at sea for 42 days (1 sea of thieves day cycle is 48 minutes) meaning.. THEY HAVE BEEN AT SEA FOR 33.6 REAL LIFE HOURS. AND HAVE ONLY ACCOMPLISHED 17 NAUTICAL MILES, 13,000 GOLD, 8 QUESTS, AND HAVE ONLY CAUGHT 4 FISH.
Now there's actually things to get money for other than clothing. This update is already looking great!
I feel this is a great updates for solo sloopers. So many new things to focus on and achieve. And gives you a reason to pvp too. It seems like this is going to be a great update.
Absolutely! The harpoon at The Sovereign's dock will greatly limit the amount of time spent at each outpost ferrying loot, giving more time to sail. Amazing.
You make a good point but as a solo slooper I had the opposite reaction, this made me wish I had a crew to play with even more. Though maybe that's just cos I always wish that
@@-the-butterfly-effect-7585 I suggest you join the official SOT discord, people are looking for crews all the time and so far I haven't had a bad encounter with the people there and even managed to find my own crew that I regularly sail with.
You can usually find people all around the clock so timezones shouldnt be a problem and there are also no mic channels if you are not comfortable speaking/dont have a mic.
As a solo slooper not excited at all about more reasons to PvP. I used to be able to sell and they’d frigg off, now people will be after logbooks. Thanks Rare.

U can now grind to be the most feared ship with the best logbook stats on the sea of thieves.
