Hi there, really love the content. I did a decent amount of studying in college on early American film culture, and the commentary on early film being more upper class due to literacy isn't commentary I've ever heard before? Do you have a source list for these videos, because I'm interested in that piece of information
it seems he copied this video and many others from another youtube channel called great big story, so check that out. Maybe they’ll have the sources listed there, doubt it though.
Especially since if we're talking the very early stages of film, the late 1800s, it was still the time where cinema was mainly purely attraction, and there wasn't much if anything that would require reading since dialogue wasn't prevalent yet. And there's oh so many silent films that worked without any text. The video absolutely needs a source for this claim.
Back in the day I remember theatres had a rule that no outside food. Reason being theatres make most of their money from the concessions. I had a short talk with the manager of the AMC theaters in a bar along the promenade because I liked getting a latte to drink while I watch the movie.
The idea of going to the movies without popcorn is like the idea of going fishing without bate, or going to the beach without a towel. Not a requirement, but so strange to do. Yet that's just how history is always fascinating to someone who didn't live it.
I used to live in a little town with a tiny movie theater. The amount of times I've seen people go in there and come out after a minute with a box of popcorn😂 movie popcorns really hit different!
You're really good at making shorts that are grabbing your attention but in a non-toxic, non-obnoxious way. Which makes them better than like 90% of the stuff I've seen, even if you do tend to have that same pseudo-social smile every time which is a bit off, but it's ok
This man needs to be a history teacher with his animation and this remind me of my father giving me a story about his grandpa/my great grandpa eating popcorn in the 18s

When I saw Frozen 2 in theaters, all I could hear was the thunderous roar of popcorn munching, bags rustling, people talking, and kids laughing whenever Olaf was on screen.😆🤦♀️ I don't like watching in theaters anymore unless it's not busy. Kids have an excuse, but older people don't have any movie manners these days.
