***** About Living Traditions Homestead *****
Living Traditions Homestead is all about living a simple and sustainable way of life. We believe the world has gotten too “busy” and that people are missing out on many of the true blessings this world has to offer. We started as a small urban homestead in Gilbert, AZ and after the city grew up around us, decided it was time leave corporate America and take a big leap of faith by moving our family to the Missouri Ozarks.
We put out 5 new videos every week! Tuesday through Saturday. We hope you will become part of our homestead family by subscribing to our channel and watching as we transition from city dwellers to full time homesteaders!

Did the Farmers Market with my husband in Northeast Iowa for 22 years. Grew a Acre garden and I took jams, and jellies and Baked goods and hundreds of pounds of produce. 🥬🥒🍆🥦🌽🌶🥔🧅🧄 Had a good following. Miss it so much, but lost my husband during the winter due to Pancreatic Cancer.😞 In four months. This brings back so many memories. Miss it so much. Did it myself for one year, but the joy was gone. Enjoy each moment because you really don’t know what life will give you.
Blessings sister
God bless you, Vicki. 🤗
My heart just breaks for you. I'm so sorry for your loss. I hope, with time, your heart is on the mend and that the joy returns to you.
I just loooooove farmers market. I especially love that your whole family is involved. It's great to involve your kids.
When i grow up .i want to be just like you. Lol
The funny part is I'm 51.
Love it. Your so funee. I might do the same but I'm 60.
If I were 51 again.....................I'd DO it.
Days old
Me, too...67😂😂
LOL, my 90 year Mom always said, "Age is mind over matter, if you don't mind, it doesn't matter" . . . go for it!
I am so impressed!! You take such pride in not only feeding your family but feeding your community.
Have you thought of putting up pictures of the plants with fruit on them? I think people would like to see what they are going to produce. Specially the more interesting varieties. And it would make your stall even more interesting. ☺️
A computer monitor with a slide show is a great sales tool. If they time-lapse photo a plant to show how big and how many days would be awsome
That's a great idea.
Dang, I would SO buy some of those $1 tomato plants if I were in your area. That’s a great deal!
TaraBoo Art ARMY
It's unreal... $1!
At most of the farmer's market, farmers do charge much more, way more, and people buy it because they appreciate the work that was put into the food.
No one appreciates free or very cheap products. Human nature...
By selling for $1, there goes the possible profit for other farmers and the appreciation for what farmers do. Just a thought and yes, a good bargain is great, but there are things that shouldn't be that cheap...
Paradiso Perduto She literally said they have them on sale because it’s nearing the end of the planting season in the video. That’s not their regular price. And trust me, some people (like people on strict budgets) definitely DO appreciate very low prices. This kind of deal makes me extremely loyal to producers and I come back and buy at higher prices later because I’ll always remember that great deal I got before.
Also, one of my local grocery store chains (local, family owned) has tomato, pepper, and a few other plants at 3/$1. I bought some once and they were very healthy and produced really well. I would have been happy to pay more at the farmer’s market, but no one was selling actual plants at the one near me. So it’s not like $1 each is the actual rock-bottom price. Even Walmart has 6 tomato plants for $4. I mean, you’re supporting big box that way and not family farmers, but I’m just saying that it’s not like pricing at $1 is hurting other farmers that much when price-conscious shoppers can easily find them cheaper elsewhere if they want to go that route.
Where I am it is usually $9+ per tomato plant... last year I only bought 2 and they didn’t even produce well... I think I got 4 tomatoes total.
selmasteel Ouch. I don’t think a tomato plant would even produce much more than $9 worth of tomatoes. That’s incredibly expensive. I think the $3-$5 per plant range is pretty fair. Gives a fair balance between profit for the grower of the seedling and return on investment for the grower of the full plant. I started my own seedlings this year, but quite a few died from damping off. I ended up having to buy a couple of varieties after an entire seed packet worth of seedlings (25) died. But that only happened with a couple of varieties. Some varieties did much better than others.
I truly admire you kids, you’re such a hard workers🐣
So excited to see the girls. Being the mother of ten I like to see kids/teenagers helping!
I freaking love you guys! Your videos make my day so much better. I love your energy!
Not pnly do you harvest your plants you will not sell anything you and your family wouldn't eat. I see hard work and pride with love in what you harvest. I like seeing this kind of vlog. I support your lifestyle
Sarah you are such a hard worker, I loved seeing this episode, great job, your plants look so healthy.😁
Wow, you guys work so hard, but it's evident that you really enjoy what you're doing. I think you've found the absolute best way of life for yourselves.
Hard working and very organized farm family! It's so great to see! Sarah thinks of everything!
Vicki
I just wrote a similar comment even before reading yours. Sarah is just up there when it comes to being organized! I love Kevin, too. And the kids help out! That's awesome 👌
You guys have done so well in such a short time, we do know how incredibly hard you work. It is as though it was your calling. I hope you can sell a lot more of your plants, they look really healthy. The girls are growing up quickly. Still love your hat Sarah, unfortunately it would cost me over A$100 to buy and ship to Australia. But it would be ideal for our very hot summers. I do keep my eyes open for them.
Your business side is definitely at better use ! Your very tidy and prepared! Be proud!
So if i plant tomatoes now it would be to late for a harvest.
@@OILME651 Depends on where you live and whether you plant outdoors, or indoors. You can have them 24/7/365 in a big pot. Now I'm in Southern California. I can squeeze in 2 growing seasons - so I'd go ahead and plant another crop in June. I'd just make sure they were Early Girl, or some other tomato that matures early.
Amazing to see your daughters helping 😉. Smart use of horse trailer. Hope you sell them all. 👍🏻✌🏻
I love your channel and your videos!!
Having said that.. your price points are insane. If you're selling plants for the love of community, sharing, and watching others enjoy your work.. bravo, the world needs more people like you.
If you're selling these as a business, please consider all overhead costs and the fact that you are creating your own market competition. Flipside, if you're selling plants to branch out and diversify (not just selling your finished crops) to keep your branding alive (keeping your name/face known to the community) then I can understand that too.
If you're doing this so that the kids grow up with a sense of entrepreneurship, accomplishment, community interaction, also bravo.
Your video's are very informative :)
I think we need a breakfast burrito video. ☺️
~~~ What a joy this video was to watch . I even feel better just looking around your homestead as your video plays on. And your family working together , I just feel so happy for you my friends. ....GOD'S JOY my wonderful internet friends .
Yall are just fantastic. I live in Cullman, Alabama. I make a big garden and I love watching yall and learning new things! Thank You to all four of You! Great Family!!!!!!!
You have been so busy.. it looks beautiful. So happy for you in your progress with both gardens. I love the excitement in you voices ❤️
Love seeing your family work together, love your hat sarah, the music you used. This just makes me happy and motivated.
I love how organized you are! Certainly love your videos.
Wow. Great looking plants at what appear to my untrained eyes to be great prices. That's a twofer.
I love watching a family all working together as they make their way from A to wherever is next.
I am so glad you took us on that trip with you. My heart sank at the $1.00 tomatoes. I know you're really not making any money off of those, but it's better to not let them go to waste. I also have several left. I am considering breaking another piece of land and just planting them all. One can NEVER have too many tomatoes!! HAHA!!
Omg, Sarah, you're very, very organized. Looks like you have anticipated each and every shortcomings there might be as you accomplish task after task!
Thanks for showing us what you do at the Farmer's market. It looks like a lot of work, both packing and unpacking and the whole day spent selling your products. I hope you do well there.
I am so thankful for your service to God and humanity.
I enjoy your videos and how to do's.. Informative and clear enunciation is key for me to follow a channel. You guys are genuine and such a sweet family. Thanks 😊
That was so enjoyable! Thanks for taking us along. You and your family work well together as a team!
It’s no wonder you are so successful. Attention to detail plus! I admire you both and nice to see you teaching your girls and whole family working together.
I love the way your so organized and the way you all work together is very impressive. Thank you for bringing us all along with you. Brenda from Chicago
I admire your energy and enthusiasm and personality. I always learn from your videos
Very nice set-up 👌
So helpful. I am so glad that you and your family are doing this.. wonderful. God bless you😊❤🙏
What a great idea to use your trailer! Thank you for all your dedication to this channel, it's really blessed me and my family. I just bred my first meat rabbits this morning with your guidance!
Thanks for taking us along. To hot here to do that now. Your blessed to have it where you are.
I've always loved watching your videos, they are so informative and fun to watch! Thank you for sharing your passion with us and letting us get to see your wonderful homestead :) Also, I am from Missouri (I live in the Independence area) and I just wanted to let you know that I am sending prayers your way that nothing was damaged in this bad storm that went through tonight :( I hope everything and everybody stayed safe! Sending you all lots of love!
Your booths look amazing, neat, organized, and you're so well prepared!
I wonder with the amount of growth you've had if you wouldn't be better off setting up a nursery on your property and have customers come directly to you with no competition right next to you. It would save you having to spend a whole day to set up and tear down so many tables and plants every single week, as well as saving the travel costs. You could actually have a lot more available for sale because you won't be constrained by what fits in the trailer. You might need another greenhouse, and create some parking, but I bet it would pay for itself pretty fast. Your farm would be a draw with all the animals and you could offer workshops and classes, etc. You guys inspire me to daydream about these things, lol, I'm sure you've considered it already. Thanks for sharing with us.
I’ve been to that farmers market.. Sarah and Kevin really do have very healthy looking plants. I wasn’t able to buy any this year due to the fact that we are still building our soil for our garden area. Now it’s not a huge farmers market.. but if you want quality it’s the place to go... very friendly people
George/// THERE'S ALWAYS A PLACE SOMEWHERE IN YOUR YARD,TO TUCK AWAY A FEW TOMATO OR PEPPER PLANTS!!!!! IV'E GOT 18 PLANTS GROWING RIGHT NOW AND I DON'T HAVE AN ACTUAL GARDEN SPOT!!!!! WERE THEIRS A WILL,THEIRS A WAY!!!!!
That was fun! I love going to our local farmer's markets, and really enjoyed seeing yours. Your plants are gorgeous! Thanks for the ride-along. :)
Kevin & Sarah, thank you for allowing us to come along to the Farmers Market. The plants look great and displayed nicely. Perhaps in a future video your insights and suggestions of selling other products along side of your harvested vegetables would be such a blessing. Now off to determine what Living Traditions Homestead shirt is needed...
Thank you again and God Bless,
Rob S. (Rockford MI)
Great video. Plants all look so nice and healthy. Fun to see Grace and Samantha too.
Hello
Yes! An easy grab and go breakfast is a must for market days! That is one thing I’m working on doing each week for the exact reasons you stated. Thanks for taking us along!
I just found your videos a couple of months ago. Everything about what I have seen so far amazes me right down to the wonderful relationship that you two have together which makes this farm of yours work so much easier I'm sure. I love the way you had touched on so many things at the Farmers Market and you wouldn't have thought of all those things to do if you weren't ....1st: proud of what you were selling and.... 2nd: very thoughtful of your customers. I just love your channel and can say that you are my FAVORITE channel on UA-cam. Now that's doing some when I have been watching UA-cam for heavens knows how many years now. On October 12, I will be 69 years old and for health reasons I'v been having trouble for some years now taking care of my outdoor flowers and things and my husband hates to pull a weed so I've lost so much of them, but this year I'm going to try to put out some seeds here and there so I can see some blooms again. Wish me luck :) You have brightened my day during this quarantine time. Thank you so much for that. You are an amazing couple. PS....Love those animals too. I use to have chickens years ago. ;>)
Yayyy thanks for taking us with you to the farmers market.. Enjoyed as usual.. Happy gardening
I love the way you guys are so organized. Of course it is the key to success!!!!
You are very organized and industrious. It's lovely watching you. Blessings
Thank you for making these videos , I'm a new subscriber from Canada . You all are very impressive and I'm enjoying very much seeing your self sustaining success . A great example from such lovely people and I look forward to the next videos that are giving others such hope for the future . Bravo !!!
You have got to be the hardest working people ever. God bless.
The farmer's market is already a lot of work, but I'm so glad you took us with you. Thank you so very much, it was very interesting
I'm really enjoying this episode, as I used to have a garden center. I grew my own plants and sold them at a flea market every week. I had a 4 horse trailer that was loaded to the gills with every garden plant you can think of, as well as flowers. I really loved it and did it for about 7 years.
you guys need to find a bigger market
They would spend the profits on gas..
You all work so hard! Great set up! Wish I lived closer so I could shop! Thank you for the tour 💕
you are very generous with your ideas. i feel that you want everyone to do this if they have the inclination. it's so lovely. no competition. the sign of true creativity, abundance and alignment !!! xoxoxo
My husband asked me if your organisational skills make me feel inadequate......yep! You guys are awesome!
I love you guys! You are the real deal! Thanks so much for sharing your journey.
Shalom! Kevin and Sarah, you all are wonderful. You and the girls are so organized and really think of many things which go with being a great farmers and business folk. Thank you for this informative video and the great tips...down to the tissue for the spring fever sniffles to push pins for the signage. Blessings!
Thank you for taking the time to take us along and share this with us. I thoroughly enjoyed it. As a person with OCD tendencies, I appreciate your attention to detail and the flow of your setup. I've actually gone to a FM and literally walked away because the vendor's setup was too chaotic. So, thank you 😊
Those tomato plants are huge!! When I buy mine they are just a half inch to an inch.. your plants are beautiful..
Suggestion--Stickers to mark pages in Bakers Creek catalogue to quickly find plants you bring to FM. I love ur channel; ur so organized! Really enjoyed the visit to the FM with you guys! ThanQ
Thanks for the field trip and your plants 🌱 are beautiful!
Congratulations on your Pioneer feature! No one is more deserving!
Thanks for taking us with you. Y’all are sooo organized, but that doesn’t surprise me. Haven’t seen the girls in a while. They have grown so much & are beautiful young ladies. Always a pleasure to see you all working together. Glad you had beautiful weather. Would love to see future videos at the Farmers Market. May The Lord continue to watch over you & bless you. Love & Hugs from Ft. Worth, Texas
You too are like the ever ready bunny you never stop. You guys are hard, hard workers.😃🥦🥕🌶🥬Don’t get to see too much of that these days love your videos. Thank you for taking your viewers to work today.
What a fun video. I loved watching the whole family working together and seeing all those saw horses that Kevin built in action at the Farmer's Market. I think you should make more of those fabric plastic bag holder to sell. You are very organized.....nice work. I love your signage. You should have some business cards, too.
Last, I love that you are not ashamed of your faith, tho I understand not overstating it. I know it helps you not get discouraged! Love you guys, and we're praying for your continued success and good health. Btw, don't forget to sanitize USPS and fed-up during these perilous times. Godspeed!
thanks for taking us along, great as always xx
I love a good farmers market. So grateful to have one every month in our little market town here in Scotland. If I ever get a greenhouse/poly tunnel I’d love to sell plants there. Thanks for the great video. You’re so organised and relaxed. Have a great week 😊🌱
You are soooo organized! I love that...thank you for giving us a peek at your Farmers Market set-up...
One of my future goals is to grow starts for just that purpose...
This video gives me inspiration ♥♥♥
True homesteaders' Growing fresh vegetables & fruit; baking & cooking mostly from scratch from all you grow.Very admirable,there is many other homesteaders where I wonder how they are even truly homesteaders for they are doing haul after haul & gardens small with not much variety@all!!! Happy homesteading your doing it so very well, plus your teaching which is fantastic:;
look forward to when you get your milking cow.
😊❤🇹🇴
I live in the CA desert and can grow roses and geraniums. Also plant pansies and petunias in the Fall. That is our springtime here. Very much like AZ where you used to live. I grew up on a dairy farm in central CA, milked cows with a Surge milking machine, butchered chickens, etc. Then I married a man from western WIsconsin. We bought a 100 acre farm and had cows and raised pigs. We butchered our pigs and sold the meat to our city friends. Then we moved back to CA to escape the cold winters and bought 7 and one-half acres in southern CA and raised calves on goat milk. Also had a pig (Oscar Meyer) which we butchered by ourselves. It was a great life and that is why I am enjoying your videos so much. I am 88 years old and enjoy all my memories which your videos help come to my mind. Thank you and God bless you!!
My husband and just started watching ALL your videos! We really love you guys!!! We were vendors for several years and I see you guys moving all those wooden saw horses. Whew!!! Lot of work!!! Take it from us, we loaded our entire business in a van, that’s tent, 6 tables chairs and all products. Believe me it is so much easier to use folding tables. Saves space too!!! Just a suggestion.
God Bless
Thanks for taking us with! Amazed by how organized y’all are. God bless ❤️
