      I've been thinking about this for years, manufacturers can include more RAM into their boards and make them much more powerful but I think they are not willing to do so because that's giving people too much power to reinvent their own tools, the same goes for FPGA, you simply cannot find a board these days, that's giving ordinary people too much power. We are locked into whatever they want to sell us.

      It can run Doom at 30 FPS I guess, there are some videos around in UA-cam and that's quite impressive, that game was designed with Pentium performance in mind so I am very excited to see Windows 95 running in those little boards soon

    Nicely done! My first reaction was why would I do that? Win is a graphical environment and needs scree and mouse/keyboard. But on second thought, if that configuration is cheaper than Rasb.Pie I could use it as a small controller with HMI. Please, provide more details of the hardware.

    Very nice, I did not know that was possible with an ESP32 board. I would not be interested in Windows but installing Linux would be great.

    Today we can just run Windows 3 on a $1 device. Amazing! I wonder what the effective Mhz is when running something like this. I'd assume it's about the same as an IBM XT with 4.77Mhz not more.

      esp32 no support USB-OTG
      PS/2 mouse/kb can change to USB connector

      the 2 usb ports
      not really usb
      they are PS/2 signal
      just he use usb KB and mouse
      can not connector HDD,SSD

    Keep in mind this is an _emulator_ . Now imagine what this MCU is capable of if it ran the OS natively, I'm pretty sure it can run Windows 95 with no hiccups at all.

      x86 Linux requires a 386. You can use ELKS

    Cool project showing proof of concept (and very well done by the way) ... but nowadays my toaster has the computer capabilities to run windows 95 and still burn the bread slices with the best of them. Keep up the good work, hopefully one of these technical 'essays' will spark a creative node in me that would make me try something like this (until then, i have to keep up with more modern crap, and it's difficult enough just to keep up with the mindless jargon and buzz words) thanks for this, it was fun.

      @@MrSudoma nope! WHY would I be jealous of windoze? I've used Linux for the last 24 years very happily ... No more BSODs, no more waiting for updates to complete before being able to shut down, no more having to find and download drivers before being able to use a just downloaded program, no more virus/antivirus worries, etc. etc. So I repeat, WHY? 🤔🙄🤣🤣🤣
