I think you do beautiful projects, and I enjoy the current events about Hawaii. It shows me that there's economic crisis all over America. Keep up the good work!
Good morning, Patricia I hope you are doing well. Hawaii is so isolated that employees are limited to our local job market. Competition is tough, and the micronesian and other South Pacific migrants have strained our social systems. THe Micronesians make up only 2% of the state's population, but they use over 20% of social services. That;s not counting the Chuckese, Tongan, Samoans, and Filipinos. I looking at having to retire out of state. President Trump has pulled close to 4billion dollars from California's rail system, and Hawaii's rail system is over budget by 4 billion dollars, for the Feds will pull federal funding from Hawaii because Hawaii is refusing to release records of how the money was spent. They had a test on the rail - which isn't finished - and the train fell off the track. Now I think I need more plants for my therapy :( Gerald:)

Sooooo glad I came across this video, I have that plant and only yesterday I cut it back but planted the cuttings, now I'm off to remove them and place them in water for a week as you did. Your videos have such a wealth of information. Much respect to you
Really enjoyed this video. I have a Hawaiian Ti that has become too tall and this gave me all the information I need to cut and propagate this plant. Wish me luck!
I just got a fushia colored Hawaiian Ti plant! It was on clearance because some of the leaves had brown tips, I cleaned it up and it's beautiful! Indidnt realize they were so easy to propagate!
Yes, I love this plant. The original green cultivar played a significant part of Hawaiian culture. food was wrapped in it to cook in underground ovens, and stem cutting were used to plant "borders" to outline property and forbidden areas. In a tropical climate, you just stick it in the ground, and it'll grow. I van't wait to propagate more :) Thank you for watching. I appreciate your comment. I hope you have a great weekend Gerald :)
@@PlantsaremyTherapy I didn't know it had all that history and significance in Hawaii! How interesting! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with all of us! :)

@@JustMyra 😁In Hawaii, my grandmother told me that the Hawaiian Ti Leaf Plant, if planted around the house, will protect the house from evil spirits. 😱 I don't really believe that, but I have it planted around my house just in case. It's hard to ignore superstition taught when I was a child.😁

My reddish colored ti leaf was getting too tall and was wondering what to do with it. Thank you for this timely informational video and I will propagate as you did and hope to put in the front porch!
Hi G, Ti leaves are very good plants and they are easy to propagate. My elementary school had a "Hawaiian Culture Garden" and they taught us how to propagate these plants... as well as sweet potatoes and other plants that I can't remember. New shoots sprout after the plant is cut, but don't stress the plant in direct light for best success. Soon you will have two or more plants. Friends, Gerald:)
Hi, I loved your video. I live in India and i have a darker Ti plant, although i had the more pinkish one ...but i killed it. :( Now i have a new one and trying to learn and be careful. Your creative planter that you made for your friend is simply marvelous. I fell in love with the idea. I might try some spider plant pups at the base of my Ti plant which is in a big terracota planter. Thank you for such a lovely video. God bless you!!

Loved the video! It was sad to hear you say, "if the plant walks away" referring to someone stealing it, I presume. I live in an apartment complex and don't want to put my plants by the front door thinking someone with like it and walk off with it. Otherwise, I would put plants all around my front door so it looks nice. I also saved a ti leaf stem from the trash and am trying to root it now. Cut in probably 3" sections and they are finally sprouting! So exciting. Your choices for the woman who wants to put them on her porch are beautiful. Maybe she'll take them all!
😶😐🙂😄😂🤣😆😅😀😁 We live in a world where things seem to walk away. When I first bought our house, I had three "wrought iron 30" stork sculptures with copper patina finish" in the front of my house, they were about $300 each, and they all flew away. Sorry it took this long for me to reply. It’s been a long and challenging year. I hope you are doing well. Wishing you good health and happiness always, Gerald😊

I too, did not know the Ti came in different color schemes. I’m thinking of removing all the burgundy ones in favor of the Two Sisters, I think the fushia ones are called! I’m so annoyed that my landscaping did not give me this choice! Question: do you know what causes the tips to tear and look ragged? This is on all mine. I live in Florida and have yard irrigation where they are planted. Thoughts?
Hello, Janis Sorry it took this long for me to reply. It’s been a long and challenging year. I was lucky that my grandmother loved these plants and she had these Ti Plants growing around her house. The fuchsia cultivars is a new one developed on Hawaiian Island of Kauai in recent years. I don't know if this cultivar reached Florida yet. Hawaii has strict agricultural laws, but if you do get it, plant it in partial shade. I hope you are doing well. Wishing you good health and happiness always, Gerald😊
Aloha, love your video.. i’ve move in to the house here in hawaii(Oahu) previous owner have a lot of ti plant all over backyard. They’re so beautiful! Im sure these plants are very old and very tall (some is about 10ft.) I noticed that the leaves starting to turn brown and falling off a lot. And when i look closer the leaves have black spot and some have white powdery like bugs on them. Do you know how to get rid of those diseases and insects on them? I dont want to loose these plants but look like they’re dying. Would like to safe them before get too late. I’ve been water them once week and removed a lot of bad leaves. what fertilizer do you recommend? Please help me safe these beautiful plants. Mahalo
Although I never get to see enough fuchsia or maroon leaf plants, the one you chose as your favorite I must agree. Not my fav, but stunning, nonetheless.

Good morning, Sofia, Thank you for visiting. I'm going to try that! Thank you! My grandkids grew up with a lot of fish... well, we live in Hawaii. Filipino's have "dirty kitchens" which are outside kitchens to cook fish and smelly items. My Home Owners Association will not allow "dirty kitchens' not approved by the Design Committee. I'm going to try to wash the fish with vinegar. Thank you :)
Good morning, my friend. Thank you, my friend. I think I am beginning to love this plant. It's an old plant species that I've seen since a child, but I like it because it's hardy. Take care, and I hope you have a great day Gerald :)
Being in Florida where once in a while the temps drop into the 30's which brown some of the cordyline leaves. Should these brown leaves be removed to give the plant energy to push out new growth or should I leave them alone and let the leaves fall off on their own.
What type of pot do you recommend for the Ti plant? I have one in a terra cotta and its doing well indoors. How often should I repot? I bought it in June 2020..its October now...
Hello, Michelle Aloha from Hawaii! I hope you had a good day. Thank you for visiting me. It really means a lot to me. If your Ti Plant is doing well, I'd let it grow until it begins to struggle, then once it struggle, then replant it. Why fix it if it's not broken. Meanwhile, lightly fertilize with indoor plant fertilizer. I wish I planted my plants in a terra cotta pot. I thing that's a classic look that looks great! Again, thank you for visiting. I hope you have a wonderful weekend 😊 Your friend, Gerald😊
Thank you for video, my neighbor today said I should trim my ti plant, do I have too will it just keep growing? Should I cut off the brown leaves, thanks for any advise
Good morning, Joan Aloha from Hawaii! Yikes! I would water a neighbor's plant/plants, I would rake up leaves, but I would not cut a neighbor's plant. These plants are very hardy. They actually benefit from pruning. I try to remove dead leaves because it looks nicer and it doesn't give an inviting place for pests to nest. Thank you for visiting and taking the time to comment. Good luck with your plants... actually, it's been a few months... How are your plants doing? Wishing you happiness and good health always, Gerald😊
Good morning, Ross Even in Hawaii's tropical climate, I noticed that I have the best success with propagation during the spring and summer months. Until these plant cuttings have roots, keep them out of the direct sun. Good luck - I'm sure you'll do great. Aloha from Hawaii! Thank you for visiting and taking the time to comment. Wishing you happiness and good health always, Gerald😊
You can always use aquarium dechlorinator to defeat chlorine or chloramines when watering your pots. Some cities use chloramines which don't dissipate when you let it sit. Chloramines require chemical intervention.

Hello, Georgia
Aloha from Hawaii! I hope you had a good day. Thank you for visiting me. It really means a lot to me.
Thank you. I got the idea from my grandmother 😄
Again, thank you for visiting. I hope you have a wonderful weekend 😊
Your friend,

Hello, Val!
It's always good to hear from you. I feel happy whenever I see one of your comments:)
I hope you are having a good day, and wishing you a good week,
take care,
Friends,
Gerald:)
The arrangements are really beautiful
Aloha from Hawaii. The plants did turn out well. I appreciate your compliment. It was inspired buy a group of plants near my grandmother's patio. The plants are doing well. I am trying to be disciplines and not go overboard in buying more plants because these plants are easy to propagate. Soon I will have many
I think you do beautiful projects, and I enjoy the current events about Hawaii. It shows me that there's economic crisis all over America. Keep up the good work!
Good morning, Patricia
I hope you are doing well.
Now I think I need more plants for my therapy :(
Gerald:)
You have given her great selections! I really enjoy your videos. You have motivated me to propagate a few of my plants!
steffiejoe 😊 Thank you for being so kind to say 😊 I got excited by the project, but I tend to go a bit overboard 🤓. You're very kind for commenting 😊 much appreciated 😃 tending to plants is a type of meditation for me 🌱
I work through the new year, so keep safe and I hope you a happy New Years 💥💥💥
Sooooo glad I came across this video, I have that plant and only yesterday I cut it back but planted the cuttings, now I'm off to remove them and place them in water for a week as you did. Your videos have such a wealth of information. Much respect to you
You are so kind. I really appreciate your kind and encouraging words. Thank you for visiting. I hope you have a wonderful weekend :)
Really enjoyed this video. I have a Hawaiian Ti that has become too tall and this gave me all the information I need to cut and propagate this plant. Wish me luck!
I am happy to have been able to help. Soon, you'll have Hawaiian Ti Plants all over your house 😁
I van't wait to propagate more :)
Thank you for watching. I appreciate your comment. I hope you have a great weekend
Gerald :)
@@PlantsaremyTherapy I didn't know it had all that history and significance in Hawaii! How interesting! Thanks for sharing your knowledge with all of us! :)
Beautiful!
That combination is so beautiful.
I just bought 2 pots today has 3 plants in each pot. It was on sale.
I was about to buy more tomorrow but deside not to since I found your channel. So I'm going to propagate them. Thank you.
Good afternoon, Peace Lily (awesome name BTW)
How are your plants? I bet they are doing great! I'm planning to propagate more plants soon. It's always a hit or miss, but I feel good about this.
Thank you again for visiting and taking the time to comment. You are very kind.

I really appreciate you 😊 I tried to comment on your video about visiting the steak house yesterday, but I fumbled and stumbled and found the correct button after you stopped the chat. The food looked great. I'm hungry now just thinking about it 😁
I don't know why I didn't buy the fuchsia Hawaiian Ti plant ... 15 years ago. I would have had all these bright happy plants around my house now, but we can't change the past - only the present. Thank you for always commenting 😊
Plants are my Therapy awww, thanks so much for watching my live and supporting my channel. The food was so good. You’re so welcome. I really enjoy watching your channel. Have a wonderful day❤️

Beautiful I got mine from Hawaii. Actually from the plant itself
Thx for sharing. Very informative. I have a Dragon plant that's around 10ft. And i absolutely adore it.
The dragon plant is nice. I am trying to collect a variety of cultivars, but the original is a classic.
Lucky friend love them all you have a good eye
Hello Loraine,
I had a friend named Loraine in college... She used to sing that Milli Vanilli song, "Blame it on the Rain" as "Blame it on Loraine", and every since then, I could never not hear her name when ever I heard that song.
anyways... Aloha from Hawaii! I hope you're having a great day.

I hope you are having a good day. I am trying to figure new ways of displaying my plants. I think I like these combinations, but I'm holding back to be.... well... fiscally responsible.
I am excited to try new plant combinations :)
Take care, Denice. Wishing you a fantastic week :)
Very pretty plant, thank you for sharing
You are truly a good friend. 😁 One of my fears is that no one would be interested in my hard work.😪 Thank you, my friend 🤗
Why you think that way? Your hard work is all about you and what make you happy 😃. I think I used to have similar kind of plant like that before but didn’t survive on me . I know that’s Plant grow crazy back home in the phillipnies . We use that as fence planted line up coz of hardy stems it purpose as our fence .
That’s how we believe too back home. 😂. Our elderly back home they are very superticious .
@@JustMyra 😕 There must be something to that superstition if in the Philippines and three thousand miles away in Hawaii, we have the same superstition.😱

Hi , never thought of doing arrangements with these plants , thank you from england
Hello, Christine
England! I only heard stories about England, and I think it's an amazing place with Kings and Queens and Castles and I sang about London Bridge many times as a child. I never understood a bridge falling down is something to sing about.
I was inspired by the plants that grew in my grandmother's yard. I’m sorry it took this long for me to reply. It’s been a challenging year, but I guess it's been a challenging year for everyone.

Hello 😁 my friend 😀, I'm happy you were able to watch my latest video 😁I hope you had a very merry Christmas 🎄
My reddish colored ti leaf was getting too tall and was wondering what to do with it. Thank you for this timely informational video and I will propagate as you did and hope to put in the front porch!
Hi G,
Ti leaves are very good plants and they are easy to propagate.
Friends,
Gerald:)
Good afternoon, Suparna
I noticed that the plants we desire to care for the most, often die from our love. I am sorry to hear about the passing of your pink Ti plant. I understand your pain.

😶😐🙂😄😂🤣😆😅😀😁
We live in a world where things seem to walk away.
When I first bought our house, I had three "wrought iron 30" stork sculptures with copper patina finish" in the front of my house, they were about $300 each, and they all flew away.
Sorry it took this long for me to reply. It’s been a long and challenging year. I hope you are doing well.

Thank you. I'm working on redesigning my entire courtyard. I hope it comes out as I imagine.
Thoughts?
Hello, Janis
Sorry it took this long for me to reply. It’s been a long and challenging year.
Wishing you good health and happiness always,
Gerald😊
Mahalo

Good morning, my friend. thank you for visiting and I really appreciate your encouraging words. I hope you have a great weekend.
Just dropped by. Have a great Sunday! Next time, wash the fish with white vinegar to get rid off the fish smell.
Good morning, Sofia,
Thank you for visiting.
Thanks for sharing. May I ask - Where are you located? I'm located west Canada, not sure if I can grow this plant indoor and make it thrive.

Thank you, my friend. I think I am beginning to love this plant. It's an old plant species that I've seen since a child, but I like it because it's hardy.
Take care, and I hope you have a great day
Gerald :)
Hello, Michelle
Aloha from Hawaii! I hope you had a good day. Thank you for visiting me. It really means a lot to me.
I hope you have a wonderful weekend 😊

Thank you, my friend
Thank you for video, my neighbor today said I should trim my ti plant, do I have too will it just keep growing?
Should I cut off the brown leaves, thanks for any advise
Good morning, Joan
Aloha from Hawaii!
Wishing you happiness and good health always,
Gerald😊
What is the best time or season to propagate these plants?
Good morning, Ross
Even in Hawaii's tropical climate, I noticed that I have the best success with propagation during the spring and summer months. Until these plant cuttings have roots, keep them out of the direct sun. Good luck - I'm sure you'll do great.
Aloha from Hawaii!

You can always use aquarium dechlorinator to defeat chlorine or chloramines when watering your pots. Some cities use chloramines which don't dissipate when you let it sit. Chloramines require chemical intervention.
