I Have to add something as owner of G2 ,thing that nobody expect one literally one review on UA-cam mentioning - ghosting!
    My g2 arrived and...:
    1. Very small sweet pot, everything on edges blurry , very blurry. Tried adjusting IPD, settings res in steam vr etc . nothing helped. You move your eye from center a bit - you need to move head to read letters on edges. Any one know how to fix blur effect on edges? I've tried all.
    2. FOV - small comparing to other headsets, feel like in helmet. Doesn't fell good, it breaks VR illusion
    3. Quality of picture - very good, clear clarity , sharp - all in sweet pot only.
    4. Comfort of use on head- very good
    5. Controllers - have not found any issues so far, tracking from 1-5 scale is around 4
    6. I had motion sickness after a time - never experienced this from previous headsets... :(
    7. Unit is quite hot after a good play, top part at least
One more thing - at the end HP changed specs of power for these headsets. Previously no external power was necessary.
All above are my personal feelings. I'll test more in few days but really thinking abut returning this
Please check this video for real true issues with HP G2: ua-cam.com/video/MAK-7TH_PII/v-deo.html&ab_channel=cbuttersTech

I see what you mean but all headsets do that, and even the blurry parts of the g2 are higher res than last gen, with the middle being best in class. Tbh if you pair index controllers with g2 that'd be the best experience imo

I got a Quest 2 to save money before I invest into something more expensive. The Reverb G2 has too many problems outside its screens and comfort for me to invest into it. I have no reason to pay $1000 for a headset kit with screens that are low res by today's standards. Sadly even the Quest 2 requires a beefy GPU to make the most of it with the higher res screens.

Excellent comparison and very thorough; though I do own a quest 2 and don't notice a screen door effect. Also I set my IPD between the 1 and 2 notch and it stays well, I was able to set it to a precise 60mm. The only way I was able to tell it worked fully was when a little display popped up for a few seconds telling me the IPD it is set to, it appears at odd times though and I can't seem to make it show up on demand.

I appreciate your channel, you're one of the most reliable source on youtube, your reviews are very honest, I like your style. Nevertheless let me give some suggestions. 1) Comparing mobile headsets to desktop headsets is wrong; you never talk of the very limited and cheap internal chipset of the Quest 2 in your comparison; games developed for very limited hardware are the negation of VR itself and put a several costraint on VR games development; playing mobile VR games is a very reductive experience; when you link Quest 2 to PC, as tethered headset, the Quest 2 is the worst of the three; the only advantage of Quest 2 is the low price, just because Facebook takes money by forcing subscription and grabbing your personal data; not by chance Facebook is under allegation. 2) I know that FOV depends on personal features; nevertheless you can give an objective measure of FOV; see here doc-ok.org/?p=1955#more-1955 . It has no sense to make a comparison based just on your personal features, it doesn't help. 3) At first you talk of the complicated and bulky setup of base stations; in the ending brief the complicated and bulky setup of base stations is not in the cons of the Valve Index. 4) Performance is not a defect; the better the performance, the better the VR experience; VR needs higher performance than flat gaming; the fact that the high resolution display of G2 demands higher perfomance is not a defect of G2, it's a feature of VR. 5) You forgot another defect of WMR headsets: compatibility with games. I hope my suggestions can help you. Keep going with the good job.

I find it very weird claim that Reverb G2 has "bad performance" (which he tested on ridiculous 150% SteamVR SS which probably puts the render resolution to 4000-5000px) in comparison with Quest 2 which gets compression artifacts, latency and additional performance loss due to non-native PCVR implementation, none of which he mentioned. When using the same render resolution on both headsets, Reverb G2 should both look and perform significantly better, even upscaled (also better color and contrast)

    • @videogamesart8057
      @videogamesart8057 3 роки тому +1

@@Vrpodcasthun I'm not defending the G2, I gave just a few suggestions to Thomas, because I appreciate his channel and his honest reviews. Not by chance I suggested another defect of G2, compatibility with games is not so satisfying; he said the same in the complete review but now he forgot to say. However when we talk of perfomance, it must be clear that VR is very demanding and if a display with very high definition needs more resources, that's not a defect, it's just VR, you need a more expensive PC, no G2's fault, this is true for every high definition display, even 4K flat monitors. On the contrary when you link Quest 2 to PC you have compression and artifacts, not so good contrast, brightness and colors, and loss of performance because of the limits of Quest 2 internal hardware, wich is not PCVR native; it's Quest2's fault. And yes, Quest2 is the worst of the three as PCVR tethered headset; I'm not saying it's a bad headset, I'm saying just the truth, it's the less performing of the three when connected to the same PC. Quest 2 belongs to the standalone category, it has no sense to compare it to PCVR tethered headsets with no internal chipset. I'm saying this for helping Thomas to do better reviews. And yes, he is too fast. I hope Thomas to read our suggestions, I think they can help.

Forgot to mention Facebook login that is required to use Quest 2. If you have "dirt" on your account, or create an account for the first time, you risk being flagged as a bot and required to send Facebook photo and video of yourself and your ID, or you could also just get totally banned with no way to dispute, losing Oculus games you've bought and turning the headset into paperweight. Facebook is very strict about the requirement and burner accounts won't work!

HP Reverb G2 is the biggest piece of crap of a vr headset there ever was, nothing but issues and problems with it, usb connection issues with AMD x570 motherboards, tried a external powered usb hub and sometimes the G2 would still disconnect, the FOV is too small, flickering blue lines at the edge of the fov on certain Steam vr games( I think it's a software issue with Windows Mixed Reality), the screen resolution is blurry in certain areas on the display, the headset gets hot, sweaty and uncomfortable on your face after a while, doesn't work right with Steam vr games, tracking is always off, you constantly have to keep replacing the batteries in the G2 controllers because the battery life doesn't last very long, which is a pain in the butt, the G2 controllers don't work right with alot of Steam vr games, the G2 was nothing but a big disappointment for me, too much of a hassle and too many problems with the G2, I gave up on it and put the headset away in my closet, I'll take the Index and the Quest 2 over the G2 any day, the Index and the Quest 2 are easy to setup and work right, I got those vr headsets working no problem, the G2 is a waste of money and won't work right with anything no matter what you do, I'll never buy another Windows Mixed Reality vr headset ever again

Since I got my G2, I have had hand tracking issues in every game I played.
