The 911 S has always been my dream care and 2025 may be the year that I go for it. I thought the DPK transmission allowed for both manual and automatic shifting. An actual stick sounds enticing, but at 62 years old, I’m in to “ease” nowadays. To me, it is just an absolutely stunning work of art.

I think it’s a really nice evolution of the species, though the prices of 911’s now are insane…even the used ones, it’s kinda sad these cars are turning into status cars more than drivers’ cars. Yes, the reviewers praise their prowess, but the reality is that mostly they are driven by the same folks who also own a G63 or a Wraith - not particularly folks who love driving. They are more like rolling displays of access and wealth. And, since Porsche and the dealers make it impossible to get the special ones without paying to play, it makes it bitter-sweet to see one of those on the streets. Still, lovely.

Thank you for the video. I regard the digital dash and the PDK-only option as positives. Great to see Porsche moving with the times. For example, I believe no F1 cars have analogue dashboards or manual transmissions. When the new all-wheel-drive Carrera 4S is revealed, I'd like to know if there will be a big performance difference between it and the GTS. As far as I can tell, the GTS has no turbo lag. It will be fascinating to see how the two reviews compare.

See, I don‘t care how much faster a car is anymore. PDK is non arguably faster and I clearly see the other benfits especially if you daily the car. But in terms of driving pleasure and involvement it is just something different. It is almost like comparing a Daytona Chronograph to an Apple Watch. I drive a manual T now and want to upgrade to a GT3 Touring as my only upgrade path now. But that is ok for me.

Most of the driving in this car is for fun and having a MT is more engaging. The PDK is amazing and a no brainer for racing however for pure driving enjoyment in a sports car, a MT is the way to go. Traffic is the biggest downside of a MT.

I don't like that the new S has the sports exhaust as standard. I don't want that extra noise and don't like the look of the ovals over the quad pipes. With the additional cats it is almost certainly going to sound worse than the 992.1 Carrera S regardless, with more of a need to go with an aftermarket exhaust. With all the 992.2 GTS delays, I wouldn't be surprised if I end up seeing one of these first in real life over the GTS.

The Porsche advantage was always mechanical precision - not a fancy control system keeping you from doing stupid things with your car. Try parking these in a standard NYC underground garage…no chance: way too fat combined with bad visibility. I think the value of the lean machines Porsche used to produce will co tinge to go up…for a very good reason: the older ones are more fun to drive.

Honestly I love Porsches but the EVs coming out of China are truly compelling , take for example the Xiaomi SU7 Max at US42k has 680hp and 0-60mph of 2.8 sec. and the std equipment and tech is mind boggling - Napa leather heated and ventilated seats, Brembo brakes, voice command, self parking and exit, mini fridge, 15 spkr system, 16 inch centre screen with Qualcomm chip, cordless charging, mobile connectivity, it’s even 4 door, look gorgeous. I mean the Porsche with all the options is gonna costs US20k more. So many Chinese EVs can do 3 sec. three days - from Zeekr, XPeng, BYD etc. It’s no longer an achievement. The main thing is the price. The Chinese have just gotten way way better.

Wow that voice and painfully slow pace is absolutely dreadful. If that’s the channels style - yeah forget it others do it so much better so why put up with someone who thinks the audience is special needs…. “ Do you need to listen to me drone on……no” 3 minutes in and I’d rather poke my eyes out that listen to this. “ I’m reading off a screen and have no vocal skills”

It looks exactly the same as all the other Porsches. 😂 get yourself a Bmw M car or AMG or if you want to be very exclusive and you have plenty of money get an Aston Martin .

You Porsche addicts get so excited by hair splitting differences from prior models. What childish behavior. I see nothing really new except higher prices. What kind of fool pays the ransom for such ludicrous options marketing? And, the car is uglier than ever. Porsche is near its end. The outdated design, stupid pricing, and driving experience are fraudulence on steroids.

The most important point is that the prices are insane and far removed from reality (the production costs correspond to those of an upmarket Audi model). This cannot go on for much longer.

    • @BeverlySeverence

@@1q2w3e4r5t6zism Agreed. My VW GTI has some of the same parts. Strangely, the "club" mentality of Porschophiles defies both reason and emotion. They live in an obscure world where optioning removal of a back seat that was never a back seat gives them bragging rights. I honestly cannot find an analogy to this stupidity except for doctors, dentists, and lawyers who constantly bury their heads in minutia and have lost all normal social functionality. Yes, that's the Porsche 911 market.

As a 25 year 911 driver I’m not interested in what Porsche does. 473 horsepower is embarrassing for a world class car. Everyone else is well over 650. The 911 is getting more sterile. There’s no styling except making everything more rounded off like a bullet

It is the exact same sized wheels they have had on most all the 992s for last 5 years. Hardly disposable either, 911s have among the best retained value of any car period.
