Great video! I'm a first-time Porsche buyer, and local dealers are adding $10-15K in ADM. Is this typical given the current market conditions? Also, in your opinion, is the S model worth the upgrade over the base?
So porsche is running the same engine across the 991.2, 992.1, and 992.2? The differences/ upgrades are bigger turbos and a tune across those generations? I’ve seen owners & youtubers make these upgrades on base model and S variants on their 991.2. am I wrong? am i missing something?
The 992 S has bigger turbo's than the 991.2. They are the same as the gts. You can easily do a tune yourself with both cars for the same (or better) results.

This one becoming the sweet spot without the horrible calandre of the new T-Hybrid GTS and the ultra complexity of the hybridation probably source of problems in the long term. And nobody expected a natural aspirated engine for the S, that will make no sense and the role of the GT3 Touring. The S have always be a little bit more muscular base Carrera.
I think it’s a really nice evolution of the species, though the prices of 911’s now are insane…even the used ones, it’s kinda sad these cars are turning into status cars more than drivers’ cars. Yes, the reviewers praise their prowess, but the reality is that mostly they are driven by the same folks who also own a G63 or a Wraith - not particularly folks who love driving. They are more like rolling displays of access and wealth. And, since Porsche and the dealers make it impossible to get the special ones without paying to play, it makes it bitter-sweet to see one of those on the streets. Still, lovely.
I love Porsche and will always be a fan, however, I'm also a BMW fan....IMO Porsche needs to step up the game and drop those prices. It's an embarrassment for a Tesla S to have similar specs for less than half the money.... BMW M4 XDrive does 0-60 in 2.9 secs for under $90K
My 997S Cab was fully optioned and still stickered $53k less (as quoted here) than this model 19 years ago. Some inflation, yes, but is it really a 1.5X better car now than then? PAG911 maximizing shareholder value.
You know the answer yourself….of course not. I think the 997 was the sweet spot: still a mechanical car, way smaller and not “blessed” with all the electronic gimmicks. Keep it!
Those wheels are hideous. After all these years I still love my 991.2 Carrera S. It still ticks all the right boxes and has more than enough horsepower for me. It handles great and looks gorgeous. I have become attached to the analog gauges and funky cup holders too.
What really pisses me is off that tiny little gear shifter. it’s Great to shift directly with the gear shifter on your PDK. It’s available on the GT models as standard. It’s like Porsche concludes that a $200,000 sports car doesn’t have to be really driver focused!
Thank you for the video. I regard the digital dash and the PDK-only option as positives. Great to see Porsche moving with the times. For example, I believe no F1 cars have analogue dashboards or manual transmissions. When the new all-wheel-drive Carrera 4S is revealed, I'd like to know if there will be a big performance difference between it and the GTS. As far as I can tell, the GTS has no turbo lag. It will be fascinating to see how the two reviews compare.
See, I don‘t care how much faster a car is anymore. PDK is non arguably faster and I clearly see the other benfits especially if you daily the car. But in terms of driving pleasure and involvement it is just something different. It is almost like comparing a Daytona Chronograph to an Apple Watch. I drive a manual T now and want to upgrade to a GT3 Touring as my only upgrade path now. But that is ok for me.
@@diegodivers you hit the nail on the head. Great analogy. I have a 991.2 Targa GTS with a MT. 991.2 was also the last with analog gauges (1 digital window). Most of the driving in this car is for fun and having a MT is more engaging. The PDK is amazing and a no brainer for racing however for pure driving enjoyment in a sports car, a MT is the way to go. Traffic is the biggest downside of a MT.
I don't like that the new S has the sports exhaust as standard. I don't want that extra noise and don't like the look of the ovals over the quad pipes. With the additional cats it is almost certainly going to sound worse than the 992.1 Carrera S regardless, with more of a need to go with an aftermarket exhaust. With all the 992.2 GTS delays, I wouldn't be surprised if I end up seeing one of these first in real life over the GTS.
I can't stand them either. I just bought one of the last new 992.1 GTS's and left the Active Cruice Control off it which keeps that ugly camera off the front. It's weird how much they put the ACC in their option packages. Who buys one of these and cares that much about cruise control adjusting speed and everything automatically? Basic CC is fine, but I still never use it.
Probably goes against almost everyone here, but the cruise controls on a popsicle stick make all Porsche a "No!" for me. Cruise controls belong on the steering wheel. I buy a car for motion control. I do not buy a car in order to have music and a telephone.

Why do they keep simplifying the design every generation? They're taking away all the interesting lines and details it once had to the point it just looks boring and flat... they might as well just design an oval box and call it a day.

Sorry….way too expensive for what you get. I think Porsche lost it a bit and they are now on the “add more gimmicks” pathway that makes these cars anything but special. The Porsche advantage was always mechanical precision - not a fancy control system keeping you from doing stupid things with your car. Try parking these in a standard NYC underground garage…no chance: way too fat combined with bad visibility. I think the value of the lean machines Porsche used to produce will co tinge to go up…for a very good reason: the older ones are more fun to drive.
Great review. Highly disappointed that a manual transmission isn’t available. I have a 2024 992 C2S manual that I took delivery of in October. The sales guy said I took possession of a unicorn as he doubted they were going to offer a manual in the S in the 992.2. He was right. Glad I ordered mine when I did. I will probably keep this one till I die as I will never buy the PDK. An automatic transmission in a sports car is just wrong. It is like dating your cousin or taking a shower with your clothes on. WRONG!!!! They have just ruined the brand by not offering the manual transmission

So we wait for another year or longer hoping, just hoping they will grace us with a manual. In the meantime the dealership is holding your deposit interest free for the next 12 to 18 months. Which, if they are like the dealership in this area is non-refundable. So if you don’t take what they have you are screwed.
Honestly I love Porsches but the EVs coming out of China are truly compelling , take for example the Xiaomi SU7 Max at US42k has 680hp and 0-60mph of 2.8 sec. and the std equipment and tech is mind boggling - Napa leather heated and ventilated seats, Brembo brakes, voice command, self parking and exit, mini fridge, 15 spkr system, 16 inch centre screen with Qualcomm chip, cordless charging, mobile connectivity, it’s even 4 door, look gorgeous. I mean the Porsche with all the options is gonna costs US20k more. So many Chinese EVs can do 3 sec. three days - from Zeekr, XPeng, BYD etc. It’s no longer an achievement. The main thing is the price. The Chinese have just gotten way way better.

As a 25 year 911 driver I’m not interested in what Porsche does. 473 horsepower is embarrassing for a world class car. Everyone else is well over 650. The 911 is getting more sterile. There’s no styling except making everything more rounded off like a bullet
It is the exact same sized wheels they have had on most all the 992s for last 5 years. Hardly disposable either, 911s have among the best retained value of any car period.

I honestly cannot find an analogy to this stupidity except for doctors, dentists, and lawyers who constantly bury their heads in minutia and have lost all normal social functionality. As a 25 year 911 driver I’m not interested in what Porsche does. 473 horsepower is embarrassing for a world class car. Everyone else is well over 650. The 911 is getting more sterile. There’s no styling except making everything more rounded off like a bullet

Save $50k and get a Z06. Sounds glorious, looks more exotic and outperforms the 911.

An incredible car for sure, but they have gotten a little too large. Love my 2015 Boxster S with sport chrono and PSE. It sounds better too.

It is the exact same sized wheels they have had on most all the 992s for last 5 years. Hardly disposable either, 911s have among the best retained value of any car period.
