I'm torn. I think it's absolutely hilarious when chat gaslights Biboo about pronunciation. But also I would've been crushed if the gang didn't reload and save the owlbear for her.

I like how all this could've been avoided from the start But Biboo electro-fried the mother to death before Rissa could successfully step away without a fight
It doesn't actually matter. If you don't kill the mother, the goblins will. The cub ends up at the goblin* camp no matter what you do, unless you kill it yourself.

It's one of those moment, in front of the pet shop where your kid start dragging your feet half crying, "but, I want that puppy....." You cannot help it, "Hmmmmm.................Okay just this once. But you going to take good care of it. Promise?" "Nod nod nod" happy kid. =) While inside, damn I just made a 10 years commitment, I got to feed the dog, take him for a walk, clean his poop every day. But oh well, the kid's happy face just now was worth it.
@@dscrye neither, game we were playing everyone had a "secret" perk to their character, mine happened to be "owlbear whisperer", which from memory allowed me to either make them neutral to me if they were hostile, or friendly if they were neutral, can't remember the check, but the DM decided to flavour it and allow me to use it (and food) to effectively make it an animal companion, that beautiful creature ended up being the MVP of the party on more than a few occasions

It feels like the party mascot/animal friend always comes in clutch. Previous game I was in, it was Gopnik the celestial dire goat, the trusty steed? of the paladin Boris. Currently, it's Mustafa the bear companion of Eddie Neptune, the ranger.
I'll take "The Most Predictable Outcomes" for 800, please (I mean, cmon, the goblins must've gotten their hands on the animal and kept it in check until then somehow, and it's only a cub that doesn't even look particularly tough)
They knew that it was possible to save the owlbear cub (Calli&Bijou) but they have been trying to keep it spoiler free for the first timers Nerissa and Kiara. Only time Bijou went out of the way was for Scratch and Owlbear, and there's many different branch for owlbear cub it's not a surprise they never encountered this particular outcome.
