- Hard Knock Tv's Nick Huff Barili sits down with Logic for his last interview in his LA home studio and for an exclusive in-depth to break down Logic's new album No Pressure. This is episode 2, where Logic talks about his childhood growing up in Maryland, how his mom being a writer inspired his love for words and how he used to study the dictionary and thesaurus to improve his raps. Logic shares that he is currently writing his autobiography and recalls some of the memories that come to mind when he looks back at his formative years. In Episode 2, Logic also gives insight into inspiration, lyrics and stories behind tracks on No Pressure including the intro, "Hit My Line", "GP4" and "Man I Is". His inspiration includes J Dilla and Erykah Badu, who he had a Facetime conversation about sampling Tarika Blue Dreamflower, Kanye West, who Logic calls one of his favorite producers, even though he doesn't agree with some of his political statements and Orson Welles who's speeches are in the intro and outro of No Pressure.

If he can make music like his last album jazzy layedback music he will get recognized moree i love him thoo and i think lyrically hes better than logic
@@theherbpuffer the only thing kaan got on Logic is lyricism and logic might even be better in his prime lol

Went to a Logic concert in Portland couple years ago, there were some Christian protests outside the concert. Ironically they were protesting a rapper whose motto is peace, love, and positivity. Also NF was there.
Really? Was that for the BT2 concert? I went last October to the Confessions concert here in Portland too!
Damn bro that’s awesome! I live just outside portland and remember driving by the moda center and seeing he was going to be performing. I wanted to go so bad! Portland is crazy as shit right now and I just keep my distance lol
nf was protesting w the christians?
bluff gawd no NF was one of the rappers performing
Abid_007 Nah I was jk lmao that’d be fucken nuts lmao
My boy logic went off on the sampling topic😭😂🔥
And some ppl said he lacked passion after he went mainstream. He talks like a genuine fan, who just loves the genre too much.
Logic is truly one of the most genuine people in the rap industry. Hes an amazing role model that a lot of new artists should look up to. He knows the ins and outs of music and the industry. He truly gets what it means to be a artist. Thank you for an amazing career. Hyped for your future creations and autobiography 🙌🏼
exactly! as an artist myself, i have learned so much about realness and the music industry just by listening to this guy.
We look up to him. No doubt

The saddest part of him retiring for me is that I will never get to go to a concert of his
And that hurts :(
He’s gonna keep touring bud don’t worry
Just not huge ass arenas they’re gonna be little theatre places
Same. I really always wanted to go to one and he is the first rapper I'd like to meet cuz I know the OGs are hella lowkey and off the radar but I feel you 🥺✌🏼💙➕
@@itzzyogibear8282 Ik, its just sad. We'll have to wait a couple years till he's ready again
There will be tours and tickets will sell out fast asf but will be worth it with how much more intimate they will be. The arena shows were nice but I believe that we’ll be able to get something great out of it! I regret not seeing him after TITS dropped so I’m excited to get another chance to see a theatre show and hope you get your chance to too fam!
this is why i love logic. he is such a down to earth guy. wish him health and happiness while raising his son.
NP already a Classic!
Deff better then his last
Bochonny wasn’t feeling the Rick & morty / Space & rap
I really hope this man is a good actor and that he ain’t retiring😢
I reckon we'll get a mixtape a couple years down the line, maybe a YSV or BT3, maybe something completely different. Tbh, id love like "freestyle Fridays" on his twitch, and when he makes something awesome, he can put it in the stash to make a mixtape of freestyles
HIGHTS its not lol
He is retiring, also he and his wife and their baby is moving to Montana and leaving California.
John Falk really? That sounds real nice
He’s 30. He’s young. He’ll be back. Just a matter of time. [+]
Everytime i watch logics interviews , they just motivate me and i always learn something from him . Logic might be the only one that ill actually listen to without ever getting bored .. love this man .
I'm a simple man I see Logic I click
No Pressure is his BEST studio album he's made. Shits a banger🔥 8.5/10
(Personal grade after 10 spins)
1. No Pressure
2. Under Pressure
3. The Incredible True Story

I like this order in reverse but I respect yours fosho! His 3 best albums HANDS DOWN! What a way to go out! ✌🏼💙➕🔥
@@zenoevol5991 me too. Stainless is insane.
None of the songs hit bro ... which one has playback I don’t hear it
@@Enscriptiv Hell yeah that is actually my 2nd favorite off that project! Fade Away is my favorite off that project! ✌🏼💙➕
Each to their own, and I know my opinion is going to be somewhat controversial here, however I believe that under pressure is number one, YSIV number 2 and then incredible true story number 3.
Thank you Logic for constantly giving us dope mixtapes and albums every single year and mad respect for concluding the journey with a masterpiece of an album.
But if you ever wanna come back, go ahead ... no pressure
He’s deserves the happiness!! Rattpack Always and forever!!
PLEASE GET 6IX BACK FOR THE BEAT BREAKDOWNS
6ix didnt do the beats on this album
WhiteDeath no wonder is wasn’t shit
Cam Beats name a song that has playback
Cam Beats a song on the album that was good enough to listen to like 20 times is there one ? Only song I liked was perfect and the intro
Yeah we neeeed that
I thought that the title was inferring that Logic has sampled “Erykah Badu, Kanye, GOD” in his music 😂😂😂
Same lol
🙏🏻
West deer park is 5 min away from me.. crazy to think I was at his first concert at UMD back in 2011.. damn going to miss this man
Logic nailed it when he was talking about religion. The important thing is just being grateful, for being alive, for being a healthy human and so many others things. These were all given to us by something, and whatever you think that is, whether it’s God, science, etc. we should continue to be grateful towards them and always remember them during our daily lives.
Idk if I wanna shake Bobby's hand after listening to dadbod 😳 20:59
I love the respect he shows everyone. No wonder they fuck with him. Taking the humbleness with him.
This guys storytelling always blows my mind. The Incredible True Story is insane and will never get old. Especially with songs like Fade Away and Upgrade.
What a humble man. I could sit in a room with him and just talk and talk. Little people inspire me as much as he does. Have it great!
The rock genre statement , that’s everything I’ve fought for , he is absolutely right , we need way more hip hop sub genres
One of the most genuine rappers and overall people out there, very refreshing
I like how he cleans up the things he say before he says it thats hows I talk. I’ll be damn if somebody will take what I say and change it to their own meaning especially when I don’t even like talking to people.
Ahh, smoking a spliff while watching this in my backyard, life’s good

Joe Budden’s right Logic isn’t a rapper. He’s a straight up universal genius of an artist, that so happens to be rapping.

I'm glad I met Logic 2013-2014 in Philly. To come from the very beginning to here is amazing. I'm very happy that he is growing more with his family and little Bobby! ❤ Cheers Bobby to a new beginning to a great story!!
I love No Pressure, happy for the man logic :)
We are all so fucking proud of you Bobby. These interviews are goated
Bobby - my special boy!
Nick Huff, always a pleasure sir.
Logic is a pure Genius. Period. Not too many people are this smart, intelligent, creative, down to earth, & humble. Enjoy your retirement with your family big bro, you've earned it.✌✌👌👌
Love hearing Logic talk about the technical side of sampling cuz that's EXACTLY what I'm figuring out myself at the moment as an independent artist.
This is the biggest comeback I’ve seen in a while
This interview was really fascinating. Logics actually pretty good at producing too. Can’t believe he did heard em say
When you get to the end and you see part 3 to come. 😊
This is just spoiling us.
Logic got the best catalog of music for real. Legend. Happy for him and his family.
This was so dope to watch. I’m a music producer and writer but sometimes it can get a little repetitive. You can often feel like you’re a robot who’s lost the true love for the music. Watching him break down his production at the end is inspiring. I feel like creating something new again.
Side note: Mobb Deep’s GOD PT. lll is another record that contained a sample. The original sample owners kept 100% of the publishing for the record. If anyone knows the record I’m referring to. It’s from their 1996 “Hell on Earth” album. Mobb Deep didn’t receive a dime for it, only the recognition.
ur beats are sick❤
Now that I’ve had a chance to listen over the album a solid 10 times thank you from the bottom of my heart Bobby thank you 🙏🏻🙏🏻
So happy to see the part two, can’t wait to watch the rest of this one. Thank you so much Nick and Bobby. Always coming in clutch with the amazing interviews and in depth conversations.
Man I just want logic’s mixtapes on streaming services 🥺
That’s why UA-cam Music is the best
I'm glad I got to see him live. He brought some dude on stage to play Mortal kombat in the middle of the show.
8:38 & 13:08 Logic going in depth on sampling and the mixtape era
You can’t say anything negative about logic. I love listening to him talk!
Mad respect for Logic, looking forward to meeting this man someday.
i was so sad to hear about logic retiring but im so happy that he gets to live his live with his son and his wife and be happy. love you logic , been with you since 2014
People don't give this man enough credit. He cares about people and hip hop tremendously enough to plan life AND his records out intricately.
I’ve been listening to this album on repeat for days
Logic is a musical genius, man its gonna suck not hearing from him in a while🐐
love this interview so much because he’s so pure
thank you nick for all of these interviews over the years. we can never thank you enough!!

You're cringe
Never been a fan of Logics music but i respect what he stands for.. Family man, not taking the small things in life for granted, and being a conscious rapper
Logic is just such a chill dude. Kinda friend you'd invite over to a bbq

Greetings from Miami!! It's crazy the way estates work, it's the principal of it all not to take 100%.
I really love watching him take us through the process of how it all came about! Especially regarding production!
So much respect for this man! Hope he has a good retirement and I wish him the best for his DadHood 🙏 he will be missed
God my records never going to get cleared

Logic will be the fucking GOAT of a lifetime we will miss you man ❤️
When he was talking about "Man I is" .. I could just hear it in my head..
Cant wait for Part 3!!!!!
Damn. Ive seen every one of these interviews, crazy to see both of them grow. Gonna miss Logic man
I’m so happy I saw him perform twice! First for Under Pressure Tour and the second one was with G-Eazy! ☺️😁 Will truly miss seeing Logic on social media, however I know this is for the best. 💕
Bro got on a cowboy Bebop shirt on 👌 man of culture
This interview hits on such important topics. I appreciate this conversation so much.
Shouts to Logic for knowing about the Lil Keke sample ! Htown shit gets love all over 🤘🏼
He sampled it back in Young Sinatra 1 on a song called addiction
We need the other parts asap, we love these interviews so much
I loved Logic's admiration for Ye
Real ones know that double snare comes up in logics second verse of indica badu when he says “ smoking on indica” and it’s fire every time
This was his best record across the board 💜
I can see three possible predictions for Logic. 1 he wants a break and spend time with fam and raise his son. 2 he wants to retire and get out of Def Jam contracts and be truly indie on his label. 3 he is truly done. Thanks for all the classics and being a real man Logic #Rattpack
LOVE logic breaking down his beats and how you put it in the interview. I hope you got him to do a similar breakdown of the beat on Heard Em Say
Was lucky enough to go to the everybody concert here in austin. Safe to say shit was fun

@@theherbpuffer naw naw except that. maybe TODAY it is. but in the 90s n early 2000s it was still fucked up growing up getting made fun of or bullied by ur own family for ur other side family. i really related to EVERYBODY
Speaking straight FACTS about Hip Hop needing to have sub genres at award shows like other genres of music do! 👏
Awsome interview. So genuine and fascinating to listen. About sampling in hip hop today: Most melodies in rap/trap music are original melodies by producers. However, a good example of a younger generation producer who often uses older soul/RnB samples is Metro Boomin. For instance Mask Off by him and Future uses an old sample (the flutes and brief vocal chops). I can't remember the name but you can find it on UA-cam. On his album with Big Sean (Double or Nothing) he also utilizes a bunch of older samples too but flips them into his modern sound of trap beats. This is just naming a few but there's definitely more sampling in his discography. Another example is 123 by Murda Beatz and Smoke Purp. The sample is called rain forest or something. Its from the later 1900s I think. I'm not comparing Logic to these guys of course since their styles are obviously different. But sampling still lives in a niche in younger rap music and I hope it lives on. Thanks for reading this if you actually cared to ✌
Man I is is my favorite song on the album
Real shit...Logic a real one. Peace, Love + Positive Vibes! =)
phenomenal interview. Logic is a great addition to the community, man--brains, skills, ethics
