What I always liked in Postal 2 is that you can actually finish the game without killing somebody. Postal 2 is a real questionning about American society and gun control.
I am so hyped and hope that the documentary will get the attention it deserves. Unfortunately, this won't be the case in Germany, because due to the "banning" of Postal², no public coverage of the game can happen and therefore no gaming magazine etc. can report on the documentary. It is a real shame. To my fellow Germans: Promote the documentary and the fundraising campaign among your friends, on your Discord servers and elsewhere! Support these guys - they deserve it!
That is simply not true. The game Postal 2 is not banned... it's "indiziert" - or "indexed" if you will. It means that you are not allowed promote and sell the game freely in Germany. Possession however is still legal. But this applies only to the game itself, not to a documentary about the game, since this is a different product. Every new product (whether it's a game or a movie) has to be put separately on the "index" (media forbidden for the youth) and each time it requires an application by a state authority. Source: I've been working in the field for about 10+ years... So yes - to all my German fellas: Promote the shit out of this documentary! I'm super hyped as well!

Yes. 90% knows the difference between reality and video game. If I agree with a game, it's because I'm already that way, not because the game made me that way. Of course, as a child, I was sometimes scared to play gory and violent games, mostly because my family wouldn't like it, but to me it was fascinating. After a few years, to see if I was scared of it anymore, I started watching actual gore videos of humans and then nature documentaries of animals... Postal just kind of is, the same attraction to me. But whatever you surround yourself with, could have an effect on you, even if it's fictional. I am talking about books, ideas, movies. But all of those already require some sort of idea, some seed that needs watering, it's not implanted by this movies nor games, it comes from somewhere else.
Violence predates video games by millions of years. Survival was synonymous with violence for every carnivore and omnivore on the planet for as long as there has been life that could be classified as such. Human violence predates video games by thousands of years, primarily because religion and greed have guided most acts of violence for all of human history.
"Causes violence in our children" I've played Postal 2, and plenty of other over the top action-packed gore riddled shooters. I adore the mechanics and visuals, but I would never practice videogame habits on people in reality. I don't just know the consequences of death; I know right from wrong. Anybody drunk enough to perform murderous techniques on innocents is their mental issue. Even if the games teach you a thing or two? You should be responsible enough to recognize when and when not to hurt someone.
Isn't it weird that the amount of school shootings coincided not with violence in videogames/movies/comics or gun laws(which were at their strictest during the peak), but with the switch of mass media from proper news reports to engagement entertainment format for viewership metrics? It's as if them reporting on "cult of glorification"... was the cult of glorification the shooters seeked? _Hmm, what was the name of the guy, who burned down the temple of Artemis?_
