- In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to root the Samsung Galaxy S8 or S8 Plus on latest Android 9.0 Pie. This root method is probably the easiest method so long as you follow step-by-step.This root method supports the following models: - Exynos Galaxy S8 SM-G950F, SM-G950FD, Korean SM-G950N

Been awhile since I rooted a phone, thanks for the quick video! Also for people new to rooting, the first boot after the wipe can take up to 5 min so don't panic if you're stuck at the samsung screen.

It worked, thank you. I didn´t know about all the trouble I would get into though, should have done some research first, I thought rooting just gave me more access ... I didn´t think it would cause so much problems with pay apps.

Always use internet banking on a laptop with paid security software and hope you do not get hacked cause everything thats connected to internet is hackable

@@kureijisama7896 he already said @ 1:10 that US models can't be rooted. Any model that ends with "U" is a US model. I'm returning mine for a refund and buying a "FD" model.

very clear instructions. I even used Samsung Switch which made the transformation even smoother. I'm facing one problem though. I downloaded magisk 18.1 as you said, and downloaded the Magisk Manager separately as expected but on the Manager I can only see the second tick. There is a red question mark next to "Magisk is not installed" and also, I cant seem to find the hide option on the side menu. Thanks again.

Hey, what i must do now, when i do all from this video and its work great and i go to dev options and change OEM UNLOCKING from ON to OFF and now my telephone cant run and i have custom binary blocked by fap lock

If you've been rooting gor the last 5-6 years its like that with every root. And why you need to dellete it its cause the ropt you encrypt files in every part of the os and that can cause problems

DON'T DO IT, it's irreversible, THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY and after that it will never work again some Samsung apps like Samsung Health Samsung Pass, Samsung Pay and Samsung Secure Folder!
You can flash magisk root to hide the root, so all the Samsung apps would work I dunno bout the fingerprint and iris scanner tho. You sure they don't work when rooted?
@@osmanm331 fingerprint and iris scanner works with other apps and to unlock the smartphone. I know that I can hide the root with magisk, this works e.g with bank app e google pay, but it doesn't work with Samsung Apps.
The Samsung smartphones have the "Knox Warranty Void" bit set to 0, after the root the "Knox Warranty Void" value is no more 0 and you can't restore it to original value 0, it's irreversible, it's e-fuse, you can view this value in the "download mode" screen:
THIS WILL VOID YOUR WARRANTY and you loose knox functionality and some samsung secure app like Samsung Health Samsung Pass, Samsung Pay and Samsung Secure Folder check the "Knox Warranty Void" value and they won't work anymore!
The Samsung Knox warranty bit is a security feature that detects if unofficial software has been installed on your phone. This helps prevent malicious attempts from accessing your data. The Knox Warranty Bit detects if a non-Knox kernel has been loaded on the device.
It worked, despite the hard times I had to download from the Highonandroid link files... I had some "loops": when I clicked "download" a new same page appeared... I downloaded from diff sources lol

@@fredtlc3 by now it should be unlocked. But, normally you just disable automatic time change and change the date and time to something couple months ago

Which version of magisk did you install??
You can always use the most recent magisk version but magisk manager is 7.1.1 @@tanquetarito16

US Models. Do not attempt to Root the Snapdragon US Models cuz they have Locked Bootloaders. If you want to use the Exynos Model, sell your Snapdragon US Model & buy your International Exynos cuz they have Unlocked Bootloaders.

Thank you for your tutorial! This really worked! For my phone the samsung logo took so long to load that I got kinda scared that it was bootlooping or something. But nevertheless, it didnt so I can say for sure that this method is safe and works well if you follow all instructions well. Thank you once again!

The network providers know those phones (for example t mobile) don't allow you to unlock the bootloader

Hi Sir Max Lee, good day, I did this lately and everything's fine until I powered off my phone and it says "Only official released binaries are allower to be flash" and by that time I'm fcked up because I can't go to recocery mode/twrp. But now I am back to stock rom. Any ideas or information how can I flash any rom but I also want the stock rom to be backup before going to custom rom. And that problem will come up when I power off my device (samsung s8+ lguplus korean variant)...

Hi Max. I have a problem to get that blue highlighted box in Odin. In Developer options OEM unlocking and USB debugging are turned ON. Samsung USB driver are installed. When plug in my S8+ on computer and start Odin, blue box exists, but, when put phone in download mod and plug in on computer, don't have blue box in Odin. I must mention, my phone is from T-mobile. Is that maybe a reason why I don't have blue box?

No u can do on Qualcomm but must have unlocked bootloader, Chinese dual sim has unlocked bootloader.

I dont get both green check marks in the magisk app, in "Magisk is up to date". When I try to install the latest version, my phone tells me:
-Device platform: arm64-v8a
- Copying image to cache
- Unpacking boot image
! Unsupported/Unknown image format
! Installation failed

I have one of the US S8 snapdragon models that are locked... (SM-950G to be specific) is there really no way I can root my device? I just got a new phone and wanted to be able to play around with some more complex stuff on my old one without any consequences if I screw it up.
Afaik snapdragons can't be rooted, only Exynos. Ive read somewhere that there IS an exploit that allows snapdragons to be rooted, but it has several drawbacks (e.g. full battery capped at 80%). I don't think you'd want that tradeoff for root, it sounds pretty nasty

After updating to Magisk 19.1 , my s8 plus turns off by itself once in a while and battery is zero. I have to plug in the charger to bring it back on. Any solution? Is the updated Magisk causing this ? Battery drains very fast

@@dennisbusch9638 yeah there was a way I can’t remember how I did it. But when it’s rooted you can use the data recovery program to recover. However it only went back around 12 months

Why can't we root the phone with a US version...? What is the difference?
The difference is the US models have locked bootloaders while the international versions have unlocked bootloaders and TWRP requires a unlocked bootloader to flash
Any help appreciated, followed instructions to the letter, but when I reboot to install the Magisk app it comes up with the software warning & won't let me access the TWRP recovery, seems like the RMM flash isn't working, Samsung Galaxy S8+, I've tried it twice?
