3:10 you say: "..nVMe, not M.2" M.2 is simply how long and how wide the green strip is. the 22mm socket called "M.2" is the only dimension that matches. All the SSD that "Talk" to the mobo with protocol "nonVolatile-Memory" are Parallel-connected "P"-CIe. Upgrade steps in HP's PDF Upgrade Guide .PDF shop manual say a serial "S"-ATA connection is in the M.2 slot of the 5480, if all you have at hand is the slow, legacy SATA strip, talking AHCI "spinner disk" protocol.
I know this video is 4+ years old, but I just wanted to clarify something. RAM modules do NOT need to match, capacity or brand or speed. If two modules are at differing speeds, the system will default to the slower of the two and continue normal operation, same with ram timings. Capacity is also fine being different, though this can limit dual channel opperation depending on platform.
By the way, the manufacturer's manual states that the other m.2 slot is optional only for a WWAN (extended wireless network) network card and does not say that it can connect a m.2 sata3 SSD in 2242 format. I believe it is possible to connect the SSD to this m.2 slot, but did you ever perform any tests connecting this smaller SSD to the other m.2 slot? Thanks!
In this laptop (6300U) you can add 3 ssd together: 1 sata (use team l7 evo ), 1 M.2 2242 (use Transcend MTS420), 1 M.2 2280 (use SK Hynix 256GB SSD BC501). And they all work.
Hey, whats that square steel part on left? I has this laptop lying in cupboard for a long time. Today I saw, it was little burnt and the plastic back cover is burnt too
Thank you for this video. I see the HDD and the SSD use almost the same space (but not the exact same).. is it possible to combine 1 SSD AND 1 HDD inside the Latitude 5480? The current configuration is with 1TB HDD and it is too slow, adding a 256GB SSD would be perfect (cost/benefit) but we still need more space. Thanks!
This video is like the definition of how not to touch laptops or any of their inside components. I would be surprised if with this complete lack to professionalism the RAM and the SSD both wouldn't be dead, along with possibly the wiring.
Forget that I cant be arsed to buy one to replace items every year dont buy dell only buy new dell models over 300 pound is worth buying a dell do not buy a cheap dell think it's going to work quickly
I'm surprised you didn't destroy this laptop 😳

Thank you for this video! Much better than the Dell video.

At timestamp 2:16 where your finger seems to point can we also mount an ssd there? Or what is that device?
that is where the ssd is mounted usually

Si puedes conectar un ssd al 2242, yo lo tengo ahí

What is the model of WWAN installed?
What ssd .can.i use and what ram do you recommend for this laptop?

Nah its too compact for that, but the M.2 NVMe SSD for 1TB is only $180 AUD
If adding a new ram module into the spare slot, does battery need to be disconnected for this?
Even if you are deciding to tickle the motherboard, you should disconnect the battery
WTF man, you are bad at being careful with components.
It's possible upgrade memory m.2 sata ? Thank youu
hello does this laptop support nvme 2Tera
yes it support

What is the brand of the ram installed?
Hii ! I cannot found the screw entrance for my Dell latitude 5480. Can anyone help me?
watching you open this gave me a headache lmao
I just tried NVMe M.2 SSD, but it didn't work :(
It should, check in the BIOS the SATA configuration and make sure its set to AHCI or something and not raid.
Handle with care buddy, these things are fragile.
So much violence! disturbing lol!
Good video
