    Recruiters, I'll let you in on a secret. Most people seeking jobs pass right by listings that don't list a salary. If you're too embarrassed to post the lowball salary, jobseekers certainly won't waste their time looking at your job listing.

    • @missg4238
      @missg4238 2 роки тому +3

      This is the problem. Employers just post the salary for the job when advertising rather than hiding it. That way when negotiating the salary the candidate will know the salary range from the outset and you won't have two disappointed parties when the candidate declines your offer.

    • @katta34
      @katta34 Рік тому +1

      The problem is that usually it's not our choice to not list salaries. We know this. We want to do this - legal/finance & upper management often want to lowball so avoid posting any salary brackets.

    Thank you so much! I graduated right at the starts of the pandemic and have been trying to "switch careers" from events industry office coordinator to HR (which has always seemed interesting anyway) and your videos have been so helpful! Still in the applying phase but I'm hoping things go my way soon! So excited for this series! :)

      I feel like recruiting is so different in every company. I work for a non profit as an HR Recruiting Lead and our process is a bit different. Great video tho!

    • @CarmenGilFraguada
      @CarmenGilFraguada 3 роки тому +1

      Thank you!! And I think the process may look different depending on the size of the company & the industry. When I worked at a non-profit as a recruiter, my work duties were less, but in some ways it was harder then my time in a hospital where I had so much more to do. However, the main components pretty much stay the same in every job I’ve had.

    It's so funny my recruitment process is quite different. No need to go to a legal department, I'm the specialist so no need to run the advert for approval at a different department. Totally agree on the salary bit though, HR is indeed the middle man here. Thanks for the video.

    Hi Carmen! It was such a coincidence that your video popped up in my feed - I'm currently in my last year of undergrad as a Psychology major and I'm hoping to become a recruiter! This video was extremely informative and has confirmed my desire to go down this route!
    So far I only have experience in the food industry (a hostess and a barista), as well as a teaching assistant for a professor at my university. I was wondering what would be a good entry level job that will give me the experience to break into the HR field?

      Hi! Congrats on graduating soon, so exciting! I would recommend looking into HR coordinator roles & even recruiting! Non-profits are an excellent place to start looking post grad since they are more willing to take on someone with no experience & who are just starting out in their career. Plus your psych degree will be very appealing to non profit organizations! 🤍

    I’m currently a recent Sociology Grad (BA) and I’m going into my graduate program this Fall 2022. But I’ve been in a desperate need to switch careers (I’ve been doing security for a while jus to get through school) so I don’t have the exact necessary experience I’m guessing. Curious as to how a role at Amazon might be as far as FTE Recruiter? It would push me in the right direction of switching careers I’m just not sure how that works for entry level type of recruiter jobs?

      Reference checks! Also, it’s pretty clear to recruiters during interviews based on the questions we asked if someone is lying about their previous job responsibilities. Of course, sometimes people do a good job at lying, but there’s normally a probationary period in every job. If someone is unable to do their job despite training and putting it on their resume, they will be terminated.
