Hey thank you for that! It’s hard to say because functionally the stainless upgrade dip attachment is basically the same. I think if you’re already trying to get the best in terms of aesthetics it’s worth the upgrade, definitely looks nicer imo. Especially the handles, the stainless handles look nicer and less maintenance than the black handles. If you don’t care and just want a quality dip bar then the standard powder coat is fine. Rogue ran a black friday $20 off the standard version last year so I’d keep an eye out for that if you want the powder coat version.
hey man, i'm about to order a rogue rack (FM-HR)with satin clear, along with one of these. Im at checkout and debating between just ordering the UDA directly from Mutant metals with the satin clear as a 'custom' finish to match my rack, getting the gunmetal one, or getting the matte black one. Would you say this is a good move to just order the satin clear directly from MM in order to get it to fully match (as well as the welded endcaps etc)? Great review. I also have an isolator and VTS as well, awesome products
Hey Jeff! appreciate the comment. I am not sure if Mutant Metals can get the satin clear exactly like Rogue’s finish. I would consider reaching out to Rogue and seeing if they could offer the UDA in Satin Clear. You are already spending so much for the FM-HR so I am sure they might try to accommodate you. The gunmetal definitely sticks out compared to Satin Clear. If it was me I would probably stick with the gunmetal. If you go with directly from Mutant Metals I would get a custom color of something else, they offer a wide range. I’ve seen them do like bronze and clear grind which is what I would go with. You will spend a lot of time waiting for MM if you are okay with that.
@@andie_pl Thanks for your input man, i actually did just that. i called but they wouldn't do the 'custom' 'color' (or lackthereof) even with dropping all that money on the rack, so i ended up just going direct with MM. the price difference was negligible and i guess since I'll have a decent amount of lead time with just the rack itself so that'll soften the blow of the wait on the mutant metals. I am hoping the satin clear is close enough considering its just the unfinished steel that sourced and built by rogue. I was tempted to do a splash of color or a clear grind but then i know it'll just lead me down a rabbit hole of wanting that 'same' color on other things. at least with the satin clear i'm just matching the rack. Appreciate the reply and your content overall is awesome thanks man!
Hey! Its pretty sturdy and fits most of my benches. It fits the rogue AB-2 and prime fitness adjustable bench. It works well and doesn’t slip that much. The annoying thing is adjusting the belt strap it comes with, you have to set it first and then buckle it in. You can’t get it as snug after you buckle it in. I think you can also ask abmat for a longer strap as well if you have a large width bench. My favorite use for it is doing seated bench work
