I can relate to the one about the speeding ticket. I once got a fine for not paying the toll for the Dartford tunnel…I’ve never been through the Dartford tunnel EVER (I live in Lancashire and at the time of the offence I was attending a conference in the Netherlands for work). My 1st thought was someone had stolen my car from my garage and then for some reason returned it until I looked closer at the actual “evidence” they supplied. The description of the car was a white mini (my car at the time), but the photograph was of a black RANGE ROVER. We had identical number plates except for one letter. Apparently the AI can’t tell the difference between a C and a G! When I rang them to explain their mistake they refused to listen to me and threatened me with legal action, so I wrote to them, emailed them to no avail, they still threatened me…quite rudely. So I reported to the police that Dartford tunnel authority were trying to demand money from me with menaces. I had a very sympathetic officer who looked at the paperwork, even checked with the passport authority that showed I was out of the country, saw that it was obviously not my vehicle, who then rang this authority and explained their mistake. They were rude to him, so he demanded to speak to their manager, who was rude to him, until he stated that he was going to issue arrest warrants for the manager and his underling for demanding money with menaces, which is illegal. A higher manager was put on the line, who actually listened, looked at the evidence, realised their mistake and cancelled the fine. They never apologised though. Thank you Lancashire Police.
My dad got a speeding fine for his car on the back of a flatbed truck a few years ago and I write to the local people explaining that my father was not driving at the time of the offence. When they asked what proof I had he wasn't, I replied that not only was it on the back of a truck and therefore not in contact with the road, it was missing the front end and he was in a coma (he got better)
I remember singing Morning has broken at assembly. The Teacher would invariably complain that he would raher walk through a fire than listen to us or he couldn't hear us behind a tram ticket!! I need to listen to Morning has broken, right now!
Served a larger lady in my dad’s restaurant once, they had been there a while it was super busy, I said; “sorry for your wait” and she replied;”not as bloody sorry as I am”. And I just didn’t know how to take it!
TBF, I can remember the day that they declared the worldwide pandemic, but as of yet (March 2024) I can't, for the life of me, remember anyone declaring it over! 7:02
