It is always interesting to see what a fella with a different outlook and different resources will choose to do. Suddenly, we go from a reed-based shelter to a Mors Kohanski 'super shelter.' Out comes that little-known bushcraft tool: the roofing stapler gun! My experience with using this tool with polymer fabrics is that it is better to double or triple the seam material: wind quickly opened up the area around my staples. So, this video has me remembering and thinking a bit about my own path to shelter construction. This is the VALUE of these UA-cam offerings.

If you're going to carry three huge plastic tarps and a bunch of hand tools and nails, a tape measure and staple gun, why not just dump all that and bring a tent?
It's because I want to build a house in the woods and live in it, and the tent will be cold.

Чому не поклав поперечні прути? Мокрий очерет провисатиме і вода буде протікати по центру снопів. 😢
А ще треба було пов'язати снопи і покласти в 2 ряди, тобто між двох снопів зверху класти третій. Тоді б вся вода точно стікала б.
Зверху, щоб вітер не здув, треба закріпити.
Та ні все нормально! Дощі пішли все витримує

As I was watching you from the beginning you were doing good as you knew how to handle lumber but when it comes to the reeds you did very poor job though apparently you have in your bag everything you need to do the work but I noticed you didn’t use a rope that apparently you have but did not think to use it to bundle the reeds into a several bundles and tie them together to hold tight making a better roof and as you go through you would tie the bundles to your frame it would be much stronger and easier to handle. Matter of fact you should have bundled the reeds right at the start after you cut them out instead of the way you were carrying them it would be much easier to carry bundles rapid ready for use. Any way you got an idea 💡 I think 🤔

The plastic tarp should be between the rafters and the reeds eliminating the need for staples on the rafters and potential holes that will leak and create weak spots that can rip.

yep…it’s plastic but not a Ziploc bag…heck, I can’t hardly keep those air tight and they are meant to be! 🤷🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
