Excellent video. Camera work is stellar. Speaking as someone who grew up in West Hartford and was a fan of the NHRR going back to my childhood, it’s amazing to see how this line has evolved over the years. It pleases me to see CT and MA taking rail seriously and upgrading the physical plant. In the bankrupt NHRR and PC years, this line was beginning to fall into disrepair.
Those are “exit gates”. If you see, the approach entrance gates release at 1:38. The exit gates are designed to close about ten seconds afterwards in order to be sure the the crossing is clear of traffic. Also, in the event of a failure, entrance gates will lower, in other words they are actually held in the upward position, when power is taken away from the unit, they are balanced to lower. The exit gates will fail in the raised position, so in other words, if there is a failure while the exit gates are down, they are balanced to raise to the open position.
@@NorthEasternMotionProductions Pretty sure these things are supposed to sound like an old-cast P5/older K5LA mix, right? Why did CTRail not fix them up?
@@NorthEasternMotionProductions Why CTRail would just slap non-standard equipment meant for applications overseas where fittings and systems differ compared to here is beyond me. They never should have gotten rid of the old horns.

Why does Engines Like 146 Come To This Line Anymore?
Amtrak Loco 108 needs to go to the bone yard. What a mess! Either that or to the shop for a paint job!
All of Amtrak equipment is SO dirty. Don't know why CT does not own a train wash.
CDOT does, but not Amtrak. There used to be one in Springfield years ago.
Amtrak has one in Rensselaer, NY.
Alright, my man, I knew you would come around
Indeed I was
Wow awesome video! Lots of awesome action!
What other rail company in North America uses the Australian K5 besides CT rail?
Why was there 2 464 shuttles?
Why does it seem like all the p42s that pull ct rail cars are dirty

@@MiddleTennesseeRailProductions not really, this one is just not that good.
@@NorthEasternMotionProductions Pretty sure these things are supposed to sound like an old-cast P5/older K5LA mix, right? Why did CTRail not fix them up?
@@MiddleTennesseeRailProductions I think it's a problem with how the air is set up since these horns were meant for Australian trains.
