- This is my review of a Weller Portasol Butane soldering iron. I have seen this iron under different model numbers including P2K, P2KC, and P2C. The difference seems to be the accessories that come with the iron,

Your using the stand wrong it goes into a slot in the case and then your iron sits in the ring.
I was watching this video to figure that exact thing out😂. Thanks for the tip. It’s a pretty good stand, after all!
The stand is meant to slide into the slot on the left side of the case.
The big wide curved spatula type tip is for heat shrink tubing
I've had this for years and loved it. Suddenly I can't get it to light though. Any tips?
Best soldering iron I ever owned.
I wish you were more specific like while the gas tank lowers, will temperature (flame) decrease?
Looking to buy one, was hoping to see how you refill it with butane, which attachment used, if any, on the butane cannister, etc. Had issues with this on the cheaper irons....good review but you didn't show the filling process! Thanks anyway
You have to watch the little exhaust port when you put it down it will almost instantly burn and wooden or plastic table tops that you might be working on make sure that the exhaust port is facing up when you set it down
You're not supposed to just set it down. It's extremely hot, so use the included stand (installed properly - in the slot just to the left of his extra tips, with the tool inserted into the ring).
Got one of these from a garage sale, only the pen itself though. Any advice on first time practice? Never soldered before but would love to learn
First off heat the wire not the solder you want the wire hot enough to melt and suck the solder into the wire here’s a decent video ua-cam.com/video/Zu3TYBs65FM/v-deo.html
Also look up Big Clive here on UA-cam he’s pretty much a master and he has several video on electronics and wiring and soldering populating your own pcb. He got one video that breaks down irons how they work the different types and pretty much anything else.
They have a tip cleaner all in one on Ebay
1:51 It's for heat shrink.
Brand new out of the box, gas flow ok, no ignition, no matter what I try.
Lmao. That piece you don't know how to use goes onto the hot air tip to be used for shrinking heat shrink.
Rene81 the Mechanic thing gets in the way more than it helps anything when I tried to use it.
Dear god man thank you… I was thinking they couldn’t possibly expect someone to bend pipes with this little doodad.
I just bought this and got no more than 30 minutes out of it and now I have to return it because the Ignitor switch has completely stopped working. GThe "CLICK" is GONE... Almost like whatever it was attached to inside the device has broke or disconnected..
Sux. But many people loveit
Sh*t happens. I'll assume you returned it and got another - and that one is likely still going strong.
I'm on my second and this one is not working either. This Weller product suck and should be recalled since my first went up in flames. I returned it to the store the day after, got a new one, I have used that two times. Now the controls does not work, I can't control the gas amount. My first got way too much, the complete handle burnt down, and my second does not provide enough to ignite, independent of settings. I can se that there is gas inside, but no luck.
How the hell you change the tips?

Sack of cack, stopped igniting after 4 months use.
Man, my Weller Portasol is over ten years old, yet is still in better shape than yours. None of my tips are that messed up, for example. By the way, I use mine on circuit boards all the time. You just need the fine tip, which I don't see in your video.
