Hey all, pinning here so you can see. Appreciate the constructive notes and concerns voiced about this episode by some and was able to use the YT editor to remove some of the soundbites in question. I admit I rushed the final day of this edit and accidentally misrepresented some of what I was trying to accomplish but overall hope you overall enjoyed the guy's descent into madness!! Here is where you went wrong: You chose tea. I think I’ve watched the try guys since y’all debut and I don’t think I have ever heard Zach talk about his love for tea, or even if he has a favorite tea flavor, brand of tea or tea shop. It was really out of nowhere. What do you enjoy about tea? Does it personally help you with your condition or have you always wanted a tea business? Do you prefer warm tea, or Ice T. etc. I could see Eugene telling me about tea, because he made an entire tea themed cake I believe? But Keith and his sauce made sense because he’s always talked about his love for fried chicken. Also Eugene should make a cologne.
Mai Valentine you probably haven’t been paying that much attention or just don’t remember because yeah he has talked about tea. He spoke about how it helps with his pain and how it comforts him. He also talked about when he switched from coffee to tea and how big of a difference it made to him. I don’t know if he has a favorite tho. I’m not hating on you I’m just saying Zach hasn’t made any dedicated videos or anything big about tea before so you probably just don’t remember, but Zach talks about tea casually a lot. Zach is known in the try guys for loving tea the most lol. Eugene drinks coffee more.
I'm so disappointed that you did an "ultimate" caffeine taste test and neglected guarana. I highly recommend having the guys try this next (Antarctica is the superior brand, in everyone's opinion)!
Vickie V yaaaa, I don’t really remember it, or rather it wasn’t memorable enough for me to apply it to his character. I don’t mind you’re comment, he has just never came off as a tea enthusiast. Doesn’t mean he can’t start, but that adds to why this video seems so insincere.

I often feel like Zach gets a bad rap from people as he's incredibly relatable and people don't like looking in a mirror. Most of us have the same insecurities that we also show in the form of seeking validation. But he looks at them in the face, owns them and continues to be himself - insecurities and all but many people get mad that he seems comfortable with himself as he is, and yet they aren't.

After years of watching try guys videos, the idea of any ill intentions on Zack’s part never even crossed my mind. It’s a quarantined video idea, it’s good content showing us something new that he’s excited about to entertain us. I’ve been really grateful they’ve been putting out so many videos lately to help this quarantine go by. I didn’t find anything wrong with the video, but if you did, give the guy the benefit of the doubt. Years of showing they’re good people isn’t undone by 16 minute about tea.

As someone who has heart palpitations regularly and gets shaky off of single cups of black tea, I feel like I would literally be dead if I had that much caffeine.

Coming from someone who has started a cake business, exposure is everything! I don't understand the attack against zach and I think its really unfair. Starting a business is incredibly difficult and having customers review my products is what gets other customers to purchase. Hence exposure being everything!!
Ugh it's prolly just bitter buisness owners who know exposure is important, but are so self righteous they'll attack other people who have the means of gaining it. I don't know why there was no backlash when Emma Chamberlain started her expensive as hell coffee business.
With great power comes great responsibility. This is a commercial enterprise, it's not a social post to friends. If you create a video to ostensibly sell your product, knowing millions of people will view it, backed by a professional production staff, then you've responsibilities to ensure what your saying is accurate. I'm not suggesting they need to fact check all their videos, but this is an ad and there are regulations about what you can claim in a video. I could care less if it was just me exposed to this, as yes, I'm able to make an informed decision and I can tell the difference between what is and isn't a credible information source.
But, my child watches these videos and they don't have the skill set and experience, to discern what is and isn't a credible information source, they instead lap this up as fact. So yes, they owe a greater responsibility and like anyone who produces content or writes a comment, you have to take responsibility for what you share, even if it is done with the best of intentions. I think Zach is a great guy, they all come across as genuine, real people, it's just when you blur that line between creative content and advertisement that you will undoubtedly get pushback, as people's expectations change and rightly so.
This comment section is really weird. People are mad/freaking out because they feel that coffee as a concept has been attacked? That is wild.
Haven’t read the rest of the comments yet but I’m about to... but as someone who still drinks coffee every day, I can say the concept of coffee should be questioned because it cannot be good for us 🥴 sure it’s low cal but it’s a major diuretic and the amount of caffeine you get from it is insane so 😬😬

@@cydneysmith4575 I agree. Coffee had a huge role into sending me into panic attacks. I haven't had one in 3 years. But obviously I don't have anything against coffee or coffee lovers.
Also i brew my tea with fennel, ginger etc cause those things are anti inflammatory and help my body

As for his place of privilege in starting a business, yes he has an amazing advantage, which is his seven billion potential customers and the advert through videos. But all business have some unfair advantage or disadvantage. You need to consider that, and I know that Zach knows his privilege. He says that they journey won't be the same, of course it's different.
Some people might have more money, that's a privilege too.
At the end of the day, it's the product, if that's not good then even Zach's place of privilege will not help.

Coming from a different perspective, I absolutely love this idea. I dont think people realize what autoimmune diseases and all the medications that comes with it do to the body. I love that Zach is giving more exposure, and his personal point of view, to autoimmune problems.
I would also totally buy an anti-inflammatory tea blend of some kind from him if he ever made one. He might also prefer tea over coffee since it's a better option in general for most people with autoimmune issues. 🤷♀️

With my heart condition I would die from this amount of caffeine. Or at the very least be sent to the ER. I don't understand the controversy though. This is marketed towards tea, Keith's eat the Menu's are targeted towards fast food and usually a lot of meat products. Hell even coffee products. I don't see as this being a war on coffee.
I freaking love Zach. Hes so calm and enjoying tea which I am a fan off while, all the other guys are crazy and stupidly energetic whihc does not look fun or relaxing. ALso love Maggie casually in the background using the kitchen.

As an aside from someone who cups coffee on the reg at work: Taste everything blind and makes notes before sharing any thoughts with anyone or seeing the name/details. It prevents you from making unconscious assumptions so you can base it objectively on your senses!
Backing this statement as someone who tastes tea for a living!
Here's a thought: if people don't know better than not to get medical advice from a UA-cam video, then maybe they shouldn't be on the internet. Everything Zach has said has been based on his own experience and I've never seen him claim that other people with the same conditions as he has should do the same. It's honestly on you if you try to do the same without doing your own research or going to a medical professional.

Matcha tip from a former Teavana worker:
It's a good idea to measure your matcha, add a small amount of hot water, whisk it with a mini whisk until its a bubbly/frothy paste-like consistency, then you can either add more hot water, or a different type of tea. This process can also be done with milk/plant-based milks. I wonder if you all would like the taste more if you prepared it like this. Thanks for all this social-distancing content you guys! As a tea lover, I am very excited about this series.

I don't know why people think tea is a hoax? I know everyone isn't saying "oh tea bad tea bad" but just to jump on something saying it's misinfo because it's something natural and not a industrial product rubs me the wrong way. As someone who has always been surrounded by spices and also a science student, I really don't understand why everyone gets so heated over herbs. Certain leaves, etc do have medicinal properties, not specifically to cure pain or anything, but they do have soothing effects on your throats and help you relieve your clogged sinuses + may also have antibacterial/antifungal properties. It's not a race between tea and coffee, but just because a lot westerners don't know about medicinal herbs which can be safely consumed doesn't mean they don't exist. I'm sorry I had to generalise, I hope I'm not offending anyone and I'm sorry if I did but that's just my observation. Just cos it's natural doesn't mean it's bad. That's all :)
Yes! Tea has been used for thousands of years by many cultures for it's health benefits. To dismiss it as a hoax or something is dismissive of those cultures and it's history. No one is saying replace tea in lieu of modern medicine but it's absolutely worth incorporating.

I overdosed on caffeine three years ago. I had eaten a package of chocolate covered espresso beans and drank two 16 oz macchiatos. I spent the night throwing up after about two hours of severe heart palpitations and fatigue. DONT OVERDOSE ON CAFFEINE PLEASE IT SUCKS
I have a really low caffeine tolerance. I *very mildly* overdose whenever I drink anything more than a single drip coffee. I get an awful headache and I feel like I’m literally on fire. Know your limits, kids. Know. Your. Limits.
I had a similar experience after pulling an all nighter where I was continuously drinking coffee. Might have bee. 3 or 4 pots of coffee? Not sure. But I couldn't move the next day.
@@Cedalion SAME. I used to work as a barista when I was younger and could handle 2 or 3 cups a day or even more. Nowadays I can barely handle two strong cups without a raging headache and an increasing urge to hurl every minute 🤦♀
I used to drink like 8 cups a day, very surprised this never happened to me 😂
Danica Born I didn’t know that was a thing! I drank 4-6 coffees the other day and thought I was going to pass out. I ended up throwing up lots and having diarrhoea. Is that a caffeine overdose?

More importantly - why are the Try Guys encouraging or reaching out for spec work?? It's highly problematic, detrimental to the design and creative community at large and considered to be unethical.
I understand it's meant for fun, but designers shouldn't have to work for free, and young creatives shouldn't get used to working for "exposure". I'm a long time watcher and a fan, just expected more from these guys.

Kay Julien IKR. I totally love these guys and all but this whole thing seems like he’s using his fans as a jumping point to make even more money. There are content creators who are very good at this, and there are content creators who shouldn’t try to cross that line. Seems kinda sold out tbh.

i don't find anything bad in this video- i really appreciate how zach is passionate about tea & making a business of it :D i also get the point of the caffeine test and i could feel their jitters across the screen 🤣 i guess it's a matter of preference~ (i dabble between coffee and tea, but my ultimate favorite will always be...hot chocolate 🤧🤣)

Just found out why they used Diet Coke instead of regular Coke: diet has more caffeine in it. Comparing the two, based on canned cola, Diet Coke has 133 mg of caffeine, whereas regular Coke has 109 mg of caffeine.

That is inaccurate. A small redbull has 80 mg of caffeine. Coke has like 30
A 12 oz can of Coke has 34mg of caffeine and a 12 oz can of Diet Coke has 46mg of caffeine (from the video and from the Coke website)

As a medical student this sort of irked me. I get that the dude Zach was consulting with obviously liked tea over coffee, but it was still inaccurate for him to state that coffee is 'bad for the body", coffee has actually been shown to lower the risk for certain diseases (Parkinson's, Type 2 Diabetes, etc...) not to mention there is no research showing any negative long term effects associated with having that caffeine spike. Like what he said about tea was cool but I wish they would have cut the part where he tried to down talk coffee out.

I would 100% say this man is educated in homeopathic medicine and not any sort of biochemistry. lots of the things he said we're incorrect; one thing he said that bugged me was that the caffeine in tea is different from that of coffee and started talking about things that aren't caffeine like polyphenols.. what? caffeine is caffeine, no matter what way you spin it! as he said it will undergo different reactions with compounds found in tea vs. coffee vs. cacao, but he also clearly said that the caffeine was different which it's absolutely not.
Yeah I would 100% agree. In terms of health benefits it is extremely difficult to make any sort of convincing argument backed by science that coffee is bad for you. Perhaps some of the store brand coffees my not have the same nutritional content, but coffee beans themselves have one of the highest levels of antioxidants than any other plant. The reason I think this guy has a negative view of coffee is because people will be pounding them back when typically you are only supposed to have maybe 1-2 a day.
