- D.I.Y Cardboard Katana Sword that actually works!
The other day Levi showed me a video of a guy making a knife out of cardboard and I thought it was amazing!
Then I thought what if I did the same thing but instead of making a knife... I made a sword?
So thats what I did hahah

Imagine buying a katana off amazon, opening it, throwing out the katana, and using the box it came in to make a katana.
To make A BETTER katana
U Can have 2
Yeah, Amazon can’t be giving up free katanas like that

David makes dumb things into reality and makes them look so fun that’s why he is the best.
thanks bro hahah!!
He started with fingerboards
true
He doesnt make them look fun
He makes them actually fun
@@davidsjones when are Pork Fingerboards coming back in stock?
Interesting little thing about this cardboard blade: it has the qualities of carbon fiber. I am not joking, carbon fiber as a material is defined by having the durability and hardness of plastic alongside the maleability and lightness of paper.
And this mad lad made the material out of cardboard and resin to make a sword out of it. This is the most ingenious melee weapon made with barely any of the striking power and I love it.
I'm subscribing right fucking now.
This isn't a cardboard blade. It's a resin blade with carboard inside.
@@alexubel did you actually read the comment or?
The the lightness of paper.. even tho he used cardboard. Its a resin sword the cardboard is doing nothing what you just said is like saying a donkey is a horse. Bad comparison dude.
But it has no carbon nor fibers
Its resin thats to be credited here not the cardboard. Its like saying iron is alive because iron is a part of us. The constituent is not giving the property to the whole of the body. In the case of carbon fiber, its entirely the property of carbon fiber. So I don't think you are entirely right.
Using resin kinda feels like cheating, sort of in the sense of "a resin sword with cardboard trapped inside" rather than an actual cardboard sword, because the base could be made out of literally anything else and be just as tough
Yeah, I feel the same.
Kudos to him for doing it, though.
I was gonna say. Just seems like you made a cardboard reinforced resin katana.
He could've made the sharpest toilet paper/denim/maxipad katana with resin and it would've been the same lol
Well a pure resin sword would be brittle, so having fibers do most of the work.
No
The un-synced mouthing and the Larry the cucumber hit close to home. Loved it.

I love Kawami Japan. All of the knives he makes are phenomenal and unique. You should definitely try making a chocolate katana next or a duct tape one
the underwear katana is a good option too but the pasta katana really have a classic touch
the fact that katanas are folded 8 times and he used 8 layers is actually funny
pretty sure its folded 10 times
@@7xyn pretty sure the amount of folds is pretty much dependant on the bladesmith and (used to mostly) be dependant on the amount of impurities in the material, but sure, guess it's 10.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Imagine High-Frequency Cardboard
@@Brigadium75 are you sure the bonding between the cardboard won't be ripped off because of the vibration?
@@zephyr5265 idk, there's High Frequency Wooden Stick so why not a cardboard
Fun fact:katanas need a curve to the blade as it acts as an auto slice if you put it down
Extra fun fact:if the blade is facing up it's a katana if it's facing down it's a tachi
The tachi predates the katana and has a more significant curve and the curve forms during the heat treat
the fact that he did the "sheesh" on TV is hilarious
Lol

I love how this channel just keeps evolving.

Bro the music brings me back to RyanHiga’s how to be a ninja
This man is an absolute legend
“ Revenge is never a straight line. It's a forest. And like a forest, it's easy to lose your way. To get lost. To forget where you came in. ”
-Hattori Hanzō to Beatrix Kiddo at the end of Chapter 5: Showdown at House of Blue Leaves.
wise words, wise words
Broooooo
The intro is the best especially the mouth not in sync 😂❤
Bro, I love the music you use inside your videos. It just adds such a great aesthetic. Also you’re really funny and I’ve probably seen this video 4 times.
Youve brought the power of the papercut to the already overpowered katana. I don't know how you didnt destroy reality with this one
After David done his video:
“Now who’s going to clean the backyard”
Lol
A fruit lover
0:01 when you watch anime dubbed
I used to make blades out of cardboard as well, but with super glue and the ones without the air pockets. It gets sharp, but the glue didn't permeate as deeply and doesn't retain its edge very well. It tends to bend and crack under stress, so nice job there. Also, I'm surprised that it was able to cut lemons and oranges, those fruits are rather dense and tough skinned. What sandpaper grits did you use on your sword?
0:31 the greatest intro doesn’t exis-
How is David the most productive and unproductive person at the same time.
because he creates unproductive stuff but it produces it alot
7:50 I THINK IM TURNING JAPANESE ???????????????? WHAT IS THAT LYRICS??????

The fact his Cardboard Katana is sharper then some of my Kitchen Knives is depressing.
David is always soooo creative in every video and all around fun, funny and happy guy and always make me feel like he’s my friend
I really like how David is so creative with his ideas keep it up
Me: "Sees the blade cut through a metal can"
My Amazon delivery boxes: _My time has come._
Great video!
There's a novel called Magician by the author Raymond E Feist in which the protag's world gets invaded by people from a world that has very little usable metal, so they make swords and armour out of laminated strips of wood.
This reminded me of that.
Loved the Riftwar series.
@@psychedashell
It's epic so far, which for me is Silverthorn
Bro... That thing is legit dangerous.. Friggin awesome!!! Well done!!
Fun fact when you sharpen the blade of the katana you don’t sharpen the card board you sharpen the resin
No shit
finally all of these videos have though me enough lessons to create a perfect war armor fully equipped with 2 katanas
Cardboard cuts are much worse than paper cuts but this took cardboard cuts to the next level!
I’ve only seen your finger board videos. I definitely need to watch more of this type of video!
I forgot how *EPIC* this guys soundtrack is
You're the only guy who could make something cardboard potentially dangerous and i dig it
My weak looking paper sword I just made, comparing to an cardboard katana. 😂
I wanna see you guys make a katana out of glue.
You layer the glue in an easy bread mold I think? Using glitter could make it look neat and a strong glue would be nice to, maybe mix a few brands?
9:40 When you said “ I really hope this doesn’t break I didn’t know if you meant the can( Because it spraying everywhere) or the Katana or both. Loved the vid btw.
The unsuccessful dubbing kills me😂, and the regular show credits, perfect
You already know this man had the best diorama in school
Omg it’s really impressive how strong it is!!!
I love it so much
David has a good relationship with cardboard
Unlike me, as I have committed at least 34 crimes against paper.
00:25 Nooooooo larryyyyyyyy!
That cardboard sword could probably do better than some of the blades you see on forged in fire
How much friggin sanding does this man do lol 3:57
He makes it look so easy as well 😅
I actually got a like omg
Just by watching the intro, I knew it was gonna be a good vid 👌
He managed to make cutting cardboard look so cool!
Looks like you guys had some fun!
0:47 *M ' L A D Y*
As an actual kenjutsu trainee I think it’s impressive workmanship, however the way you treat your blade is absolutely horrifying to me. But I can’t hold you to a golden standard cool vid.
What all is he doing wrong?
what is he doing wrong exactly
The music during the slicing montage was absolutely hilarious
This feels like OG UA-cam. Great video!
It’s just Epoxy at this point I would’ve been more impressed with the glue I think you took the easy way out bro
thats what im thinking got clickbaited
@@sashobg my guy if you genuinely thought that a pure cardboard sword would work then that’s on you
@@thealphas1 he never said it works he said it's sharp and I believe cardboard can be sharp
I wonder if that trick for the new super hard wood, that they made a knife out of, would work using cardboard.
this man would definitely survived in a zombie apocalypse with just a set of cardboard weapons
3:40 the freaking like parody or wut evs of rolling stones, paint it black is amazing... lmao i bout shit myself once i realized what the lyrics were saying

Awesome vid David! Really enjoyed watching your skate progression, will you be uploading more of those videos? Scored a new techdeck last night with the proper bushings 😁
Love the dubbed over lip gibberish. Really hits the mark for that "Old dubbed asian movie" feel.
His “aer you japanese?” Shirt described the way that aussies and New Zealanders talk lmao
Imagin he reply’s to this comment
Some people may think the carboard at first is garbage, but me, as a creative person, i think of it as a pile of gold (not in a bad way, lol)
Amazing content love ur vids!
Randomly came across this dude while scrollin through Sword makin vids and Im glad I did
This is the most powerful thing ever you get cut and on top of that you get a cardboard cut. ULTIMATE PAIN
i love this guy he is such a legend ♥️
No cats were harmed in the making of this video.
Now thats some sharp ass cartbourd boi
I love this dudes energy
I like how that guy that makes knives out of weird stuff always cuts a cucumber so you also cut a cucumber
7:35 put it in the lowest play back speed and if you can see he choped it in mid air and it didnt cut but when it hit the ground boom. it looks strait out of anime
This takes "Buy one get one free" to a whole new level
I suggest making the blade curbed, it helps with weight distribution and easier cutting
-Sharpness V
-Unbreaking III
The enchantments for the sword. You're welcome.
I love the music in the background 😊
