I recently got fitted for a set of Callaway Apex Pro 4-AW. First round out after getting them I shot my best round. I think it was more the confidence it gave me knowing I have what was fit to me more than just having new clubs. Thanks for the video Mark.
I've just changed putter grip on my Odyssey Sabertooth from 2010. Gone to a chunky Superstroke 3.0 and cannot do justice just what an impact it has had on my putting! It's like having a brand new putter that has taken 3-4 shots off my round and it cost me £30! Love your content Mark and Co! Don't care if its a course VLOG, a training/swing tip or even a course/bag management vid like this.
Really love this! As a club fitter, so many people I fit have redundancies in their bag. The worst is always at the longer part of their bag, where they have 7 wood, 4 hybrid and 4 iron. They tend to hit 7 wood and 4 hybrid the same distance. And never or rarely hit 4 iron because its harder to hit.
I agree. My 7 wood is money and it replaced my recalcitrant 3 iron. For my swing speed, I also needed a 170-180 club and the 4 iron was a little inconsistent. So I tried a 5 Hybrid (26°) and it was perfect to replace the 4 iron. If I am under a branch, in the rough, I will just lead the 5 hybrid a bit to de-loft it.
Liking this. I use a simple set up in my bag, Driver, 3 Wood, 3 Hybrid, 4-PW, 52, 56, and Putter. But am thinking if O should change my 56 to 58 wedge.
@@larryyan7651 Why dont you just add in a 60 wedge? Especially if you like the flight of the 56 and know the distance already. But it is definitely an option for you.
@@onioni03 I tried putting a 60 in the bag but can't seem to hit it properly. Plus, I tend to overthink my shot with too many options in the bag. That's why I am really considering changing the 56 to 58, so I should have the best of both worlds.
@@steviewonder2492 Kind of, I've got Mizuno MP53 Irons 4-PW with a Callaway epic flash 3 hybrid. Had the irons quite a while, want to upgrade at some point to a set of Apex pro 21 irons!
I've been watching Mark say "Get propper fit" and "A good fitting is almost like a lesson" for years now, and I still don't feel like there is a fitter or pro remotly close to me that would agree to that kind of service. Sad :/
I'm willing to bet you'd be surprised at how many there are out there. Nearly all private course pro shops will be experienced club fitters. And yes, they are open to fitting non members. Ive used this as a chance to talk them into letting me play an exploratory round as a tentative member as well. Club fitting is very crucial in my view. I can't imagine trying to adapt my own unique swing to fit a club. The clubs should compliment your type of swing, as golf is hard enough to be consistent at... Let the technology of the clubs and expertise of a fitter work for you. That and I've found that people in the business of improving your golf experience to be a special type of human. They have patience of saints and always send me home hitting the ball so well I start having dangerous amounts of daydreams about quitting my job to start playing in qualifiers for the mid am tournaments.... Then I read about the freaks that are out there on the weekends posting rounds in the 60's. routinely. in state amateur tournament play. Then I usually come back to reality.
My favorite club is my 8-iron! It's the perfect club off the first tee of my local 9-hole muni to lay up for a pitching or gap wedge into the green, especially when I haven't had a chance to warm up.
I've worked hard to try to fill all my gaps but you've brought up a number of ways i can improve my club gapping. Right now my favorite club is my Taylormade M4 Hybrid 5. Keep the videos coming, this one is great!
I play driver, 3 wood, 3-pw, and then 50, 54, 58. Depending on the course I sometimes swap out a wedge or a wood for a 2 iron. Never been a fan of the hybrid clubs. I have always preferred irons and find I have a lot more co ntrol and easier to shape shots
Definitely would be interested in a review of that new Cleveland Hy-wood. It sort of reminds me of a club in my bag right now that I like a lot: the Cobra Radspeed Tour 5W. It’s almost a cross between a fairway wood and a hybrid, with a really small head and a shorter (41.75”) shaft, and I’ve lofted it up to 19. Super workable. I love it.
My Favourite club is my 8 Iron. My set up is Driver (9 degrees), 3 Wood (15 degrees), 19 & 22 Hybrid, 5-P in my irons, 52 & 58 Wedges and a mallet putter. Great vid as always guys.
Love to see that you finally got a microphone on each of you much easier to understand what's being said. This was a very entertaining video . I agree that club gapping is very important. I however have gone with one manufacture for my clubs SW-GW-AW-PW-9-8-7-6-5HB-4HB-5W-3W-DR with these and half - 3/4- full swing it's relatively easy to control distance and flight. Thanks for your video's
Mistake I’ve seen alot of is the assumption that if someone’s lowest lofted iron is 4, they must need a 3 hybrid. Hybrids by design go further, I started to improve my gapping when I allowed myself to overlap my 5 iron and also carry a 5 hybrid.
My favorite club is my 21 degree hybrid. Hi Mark, I treated myself this year and bought new clubs after 20+ years with the same set. I got fitted, and now I play, 9.5 degree driver, 15 degree 3W, 21 degree hybrid, 5-GW, 54, 58. This was the first time I played a hybrid and replaced the 3 and 4 iron. I could never hit the 3. The hybrid is now one of my favorite clubs. I feel confident with it from 220 yards. Pure joy. Thanks for the chance to win. I love your content.
Ping eye 2 and Titleist DCI 822 are the best clubs ever made imo. Clubs that withstand the test of time speak for themselves. What is it about the 5 iron that you struggle with?
Same here, I just re-gripped mine with Winn Dri-Tec wraps, the old ones felt like concrete. 3 iron got replaced by a Ping 7 wood (love this club!), and my 4 iron got replaced for a Ping 5 hybrid. Perhaps you can look into hybrids? You swing them like fairway woods, not irons.
Great video. Getting fit for each club is essential, if you want to play your best. Finding a good fitter is the hard part. I was fit for my clubs, but not fitted for each one. Scotty Cameron Newport 2; Vokey wedges: 54 & 60; Titleist irons: Gap - 6; Calloway hybrids: 4 (25*) & 5 (22*); Calloway woods: 5 (19*) 3 (16*); Calloway driver (10* w/draw bias). It’s time for new clubs and my swing has improved greatly but I want to find a different club fitter. So my search begins.
@@chrissilkwood5439 I find I can swing hybrids like an iron or a wood. A wood if I want a draw shape or like an iron for either a flighted or high shot.
I think a big gap for most is with the grips and making sure you find the right thickness and then making sure you have the same grips and consistent thickness for all the clubs. Having loads of different ones with just what’s on the club you buy creates potential slight difference in hand activity and grip pressure. New grips definitely breed new life but get everything the same and changed at the same time.
My favorite club is my 56° degree wedge. A) it's my most versatile (chips, pitches, full shots all with low/high control) B) if I'm hitting it I hit a decent previous shot ("just a wedge in) $$$ is a barrier to my "perfect" bag for me. Trying out clubs, blending sets and swapping between a gap wedge and a second hybrid or third wood all cost $$$. I can't justify 200$ on a club that might not make my bag. Hitting a demo club and using a club for a few rounds or lessons is completely different. Love the content!
I've made a lot of changes to my bag this year. In addition to a new-to-me driver (Taylormade M1), I added a high-lofted 3-wood, a Titleist 818H 21-degree hybrid, replaced my 5 and 6-irons with Srixon Z-U85 utility irons, replaced my BeCu Cleveland 588 wedges with the new Cleveland Smart Sole 4 GW and SW wedges, and replaced my Ping B60 putter with a new Odyssey Eleven putter with high MOI. If you lost count, I have 5 different brands in my bag. Trying to make all my clubs as forgiving as possible.
Mark I for one so appreciate what you do on this channel to educate us on golf. You not only open our eyes but surprise us as well. I'm pushing 60 and thought I knew a lot about golf, but as the better part of 10 years watching your channel I don't even try to fool myself on my knowledge of golf. So thank you sir. Keep up the good work that you do and pat Coach on the back for helping with this journey too.
Driver, 3Hybrid, 5-P/A/G, 56 Big gap current in my 200+ to driver until I finish my set. Loved the discussion on lofts - club head, dynamic delivery - thank you! I’ve never felt comfortable consistently with the higher clubs and have been working on my consistency in delivery before committing to my overlaps at the high end.
Hi Mark , I am a 6.8 handicap golfer and for the first time ever I’m indulging in a club fitting session and purchasing a set of pings from driver to SW, my sister is a pro like yourself in the states and my dad is an excellent golfer, all ping golfers, just thought I’d share!
Hi Mark - my bag is: Driver @ 9; 3-wood @ 15; Hogan VkTr+ hybrid @ 18; PXG hybrid @ 21; Hogan PTXPro irons 5 - PW (4 degree gap between each with 5-iron @ 24); Vokey wedges @ 50 - 55 - 60. Cheers!
I’m new to golf in the last 2 years since I retired (perfect timing with lockdown!) and just bought a set of irons off eBay (Titleist 716 AP2 5-W), then a hybrid 23° then a 3 wood, got given an old M1 driver and recently persuaded by the Pro to buy Pin 52 &56° wedges. I carry 13 clubs so have room for one more!!! I’ve had a few lessons but am nervous about not being good enough to go for a custom/gap fitting. This video has been really useful getting me to rethink my bag!!!
Another great video to get the average golfer to think. My favourite club is my putter. My bag is still in a state of flux as I try to fill the gaps that my Shotscope watch has identified. My bag: G425 max driver, G410 7 wood, G15 hybrids (20, 23, 27 degrees), Titleist T300 iron (6-P), T300 48 degree gap, 52, 54, 58 degree wedges (Calloway). Triple track putter
Great video Gentlemen. I am swinging a 9° Driver. 3+,4 wood, heaven wood. 3 mid Gapr, 5 thru pw cleveland uhx. 52 58 putter. All fitted except wedges. Its a feel thing that got them in the bag. All second hand. And 7 bags full. Hand me downs and gimmes. Swing changes and course management pretty much put more interest into what I was hitting. Still chasing it. Not fighting clubs anymore. That in itself makes so much difference. Can't blame the clubs.
So I know you asked for irons, but I've just finalised my bag after taking golf up a year ago. Started with a box set from onyx and just finished replacing everything to suit my gaping and needs. Some old clubs here but work a treat for me XR Speed driver, stiff flex at 9.5 XR Speed 3 Wood, stiff flex at 15 Cobra baffler trail + hyb 19 Cobra baffler trail + hyb 25 Wilson di7 (I know they're old but I do love them) 5-pw. 48, 54 and 60 wedges. The gapping sits lovely for me so far. Certainly my clubs for the next year while I improve.
PW - 4 iron in mp20 hmb, 52, 56, 60. 2 iron, 5 wood and Driver. Works for my course, clubs in reserve for other courses, 3 wood and 3 hybrid great content Boyz!
The wedge discussion is interesting, it seems like you both carry a form of 'A' or Gap wedge. For you, Mark, it is your Z-Forged PW, and for Coach, the 'A' wedge. and then you have 2 specialist wedges. Are you advocating that most of us carry a gap wedge that is a set wedge and then have two specialist wedges with varying bounce and grinds? I carry 5-PW (pretty traditional lofted with a 46* PW) and then have a 50, 54, 58 all in the Zipcore range. It is an area of my bag I have been looking at tinkering with, potentially going to book a wedge fitting once all is said and done with the lockdown in Melbourne. Thanks again for the great content, love your works fellas.
I just went through this myself. Got fitted for irons and went with Titleist T200s. The PW is 43 degrees (my old irons were a 46). So, got a 48 AW that is also a Titleist T200, and then my Cleveland Zipcore wedges of 52, 56, and 60. Seems to be working, but still getting used to the distances for the PW and AW. Definitely messes with your mind!
6 months ago bought some official Callaway used x-forged 18 irons. They are great, didn't think I was good enough for these sort of clubs but thought i'd gamble (c.12 HCP) and have had the best four rounds ever in the last couple of months. These i carry 5 iron - pw. 4-iron left in the garage in favour of 4-hybrid. 3 wedges SM6 52, 56 and 60 (bent a bit!). Top end was confused as 2-hybrid and 3-wood (16.5 degree) were going the same distance pretty much until I bought a 14.5 degree 3-wood, now all gapped lovely up there. Great video guys!
Hi Mark & Matthew, great video. My Bag: Driver (12.5°), 3W (16°), 5W (19°), 7W (22°), 5 Hybrid (26°), 5i, 6i, 7i, 8i, 9i, PW, SW, GW, LW - if my 5i continues to misbehave, it will get replaced by a 6 Hybrid (or I can choke down on the 5 hybrid). My favorite (favourite) club is my 7 wood (Ping G425 SFT).
Play Taylormade irons but have taken out 5 and 6 irons and replaced them with hybrids (rescues) massive improvement in my game. 33 inch Rossie putter, CBX wedges 58 54 50 to fit in with PW loft. M6 driver R11 3w.
I’m 75 years old and have transitioned to hybrids 4-6 Cobra Ultra lites and 7-GW Cobra T-rail hybrid Irons. Also play Callaway Epic Driver, 5 and 7 woods. Cleveland 52 and 56 degree wedges and Taylor Made Spider putter. A real mixed bag!
Really enjoy the videos of you guys together-chemistry is great! I play 6i - SW, 6 hybrid and 3 hybrid along with my driver and 3W that never comes out of my bag.
Two months have gone by, lots of testing. I have now ditched my 3-wood. I have a 17, 19 & 22 hybrid. T-MB 4 iron (23) and 5-PW (27-48). Two wedges 54 & 60. Took 2 months of testing and a lot of e-bay but what a difference loading the top end. I am a scratch golfer so if I load the top end, most people should do the same. Good video Mark & Coach.
Recently got back into golf after kids went back to school. I went and bought a whole new set, Titleist 917 D3 driver, 917 3 wood 15°, Titleist 818 H2 hybrid 19° and 21°, Titleist AP3 5-48° then vokey wedges 54° and 60°. Of course a Scotty Cameron Newport putter.
Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 22 degree hybrid, 5-GAP, 54, 58 wedges. If I ever get over the pond, I'm scheduling a fitting/lesson with you. I think you would be a blast to work with!
I have a driver (Callaway Mavrik) 4 wood (Callaway X Hot), 3, 4 and 5 hybrid (Cobra F7) 6,7 8,9,PW,GW Wilson D9, sand wedge & Lob Wedge (Ping eye 2) Ping Pal 2 putter Love the channel Mark! Best, Tim
3hybrid 19 degrees. P790 4-7. More forgiving top end P770 8-9. More feel bottom end Rtx4 46, 52, 58. #combo Some irons are bent to suit gapping. Great content as per love the videos always. Cheers Mark #lockeyarmy 'MY FAVOURITE CLUB IS..' my Adams 2iron DHY. Spent loads on the rest of my bag and tried to find better in this one. But can 2014 it's just amazing
Thanks Mark. Seems I was on the right track. I have been wat hing your videos since almost the beginning. Bought a ping i20 based on your review. (And yes tested them for sure as well). Keep going. Advised my wife to start looking as well.
G'Day Mark & Coach..... Ping iWedge 58 , 54 , 50 , Ping G5 PW , 9 , 8 , 7 , 6 , 5 irons...Callaway graphite X-16 3 iron ( Lumpy ), 18deg 5 Wood , 15 deg 3 Wood - PING G Driver 10 deg. Because I carry, I never have 14 clubs in the bag this gives me the opportunity adapt the set to my game on any given day... My favourite club is.. 7 iron...I can plan my round around its distance if need be...... All Good Bruhs...Keep up the vids.
changed my bag last season and it was the best move ever, pw -6, 5 hybrid, 7 wood, 5 wood, driver. great blend of distances for me.(alot of testing with my coach)
Driver / 3 wood / 21* utility wood, lrons - 5 iron to PW; individual wedges - 50 * GW, 54* SW, 60* LW, and Putter. (13 clubs) Moved a few years ago and just finished updating my bag for my new home course. The 5W went bye bye and was replaced by a 21* UW (Callaway Apex).
I currently play the ZX5s 5 thru PW and my favorite club is my zipcore 52 wedge. This is one of your best instructional "teaching" videos boyz! Lots to be learned from this one.
My favourite club is currently 7 iron Cleveland cb588…which I am using to relearn how to do bump and runs onto the green instead of always picking up wedge and wondering why it just not work from lots of different situations! Great vid chaps…as ever
I recently got a fit for a whole new bag, for my new irons i dropped the 4 iron and opted for the added help of a hybrid. Also went for the Sim 2 Max D driver just for a bit of added help with closing the face - i have a pretty high swing speed so having the ability to have a 9* head on the driver made a big difference for me too. Really really interesting, and sometimes it's about letting go of the stigma behind 'game improvement' or 'forgiving' clubs, ultimately the job is to get the ball in the hole with as few shots as possible - and most importantly, having fun while doing it! Love the videos.
I've been running with 5-PW for quite a while now. I do sometimes find myself wishing I had a 4 iron in the bag to hit those low running shots to get out of trouble from the trees but this set up has been the most successful for me. Current bag set up is Driver, Mini Driver, 4 wood, 4 hyrid, 5-PW, 52, 56, 60 and a putter.
This is where I am right now with my bag. Did a fitting for driver, 3 wood, irons, and wedges. Got 6-GW, and then I have a 22 degree hybrid that I love. My 6 iron gets me about 160-170, then my 22 degree is 180-190, so I have a bit of a gap there that I need to cover. Not sure if I want to go 5 iron, or a 5 iron replacement hybrid on the lower end, and a 2/3 hybrid or 5 wood on the upper end. That’s my next step. Just came off my second hip replacement, so need to get back into a good swing groove before tackling the low irons…As for grips! YES! Now that I’ve learned you can use an air compressor to blow grips on and off, I change grips wayyyyyy too often!
PW-4 Cleveland HB Turbo. 56, 52 wedges. Calloway Rogue Driver, Maverick 5W. Ping G400 Hybrid 3, 5. When I’m feeling good I swap out the Turbos for my P790’s. Love them when I’m on. They feel great!
Driver (10.5 deg) 4 wood (15 deg) Hybrid (21 deg) 5-P mizuno irons 49/55/59 deg wedges. Odyssey hot metal-x 7 putter The wedges were blended with my old clubs but I can manipulate them well enough to sack off the 49 which is now too close to the set wedge! My favourite club is my putter! I was never fit for it but I love it!
My irons set up is now 5-PW after I bought a rinky inspired 22 hybrid which quickly became my fav club and transformed my approach game (and made my 4iron have a time out in the shed). It’s excellent at getting Srixon golf balls about of the rough by the way .. free my gift!
Driver, 3W, 19 hybrid, 23 hybrid, 5I- PW, 46, 52, 56. I used to have a 60 but recently swapped it out for the 19 hybrid, already making gains and not losing anything in the wedge department 👍
Great video. Agree with so much, the over lap at the top end was something I had to get my head around but it works so well. Got new clubs last year after e were stolen. Got fit for all. I was the best part of lock down to be honest. It was a great adventure going out everyday trying new stuff from the club pro. He gave me options to try off the fitting amd play on the course. I gave feed back daily. Bag make is, Driver 11.5, 5 wood, 5 hybrid, 5- pw , 48, 54, 60.
I have spent a lot of thought in making my 14 clubs. Because my distance is down, I've found at a certain point the long part of my bag could be redundant and overlapping in distance. I carry putter, lob wedge, gap wedge, pitching wedge, 5-9 irons, 1 iron- great for low shots out of trouble, 3 and 4 hybrid and driver
I have a blended set. TM CB Daytona OS Putter, Cleveland 58 deg RTX 588, Cleveland 54 deg RTX 588, Cleveland 48 deg RTX 588, TM M2 PW, TM M2 9, Wilson Launch Pad 8, TM M6 31 deg 7 Hybrid, TM M6 28 deg 6 Hybrid, TM M6 25 deg 5 Hybrid, TM M6 22 deg 4 Hybrid, TM Sim 19 deg 3 Hybrid, Callaway Big Bertha 18 deg 5 wood and finally Callaway Epic Max 10.5 deg Dirver. Golf Ball Titleist pro V1. Lots of hybrids in my set. I just find them so easy to hit compared to irons. No brainer for me to go as deep into the set as possible with hybrids. Cheers Ben, Sydney Australia
Excluding the putter, I have Driver, 3 Wood, 2Hybrid, 5-SW (Cobra SZ), 48, 50 and 58. I know my distances with each club and this set gives me the confidence that I'll have the right club in the bag for whatever distance I need.
Current iron make up = 3-PW ping I3 blades. A bit unforgiving for my #25 handicap, but they still get me around the course each week. Thanks for the great content boys!
Pw to 5, 22 & 19 hybrid 52 & 58 wedge fitted putter 33’ fitted driver standard 3 wood (which is the next club to be changed 😉) had the irons ‘fitted’ wanted to go more combo but no real options to try different lofts so stayed clear couldn’t test the hybrids so got adjustable necks luckily they tap nicely 👍. Content like this has definitely helped me have a better bag. Seeing lots of gains in that 200+ area
Being a low handicapper, the main thing I see with other players is how they dont utilise the laser range finder to its potential. They shoot the flag and hit that number. No hazards, no carry points or simply to trees through the fairway. Well you get my point. Nice vid guys
I have driver, 3 wood, 4x hybrids, 7iron to SW (all cobra) 52deg and 60deg titleist wedges and a ping putter. Took me a while to get the gapping right which, as this great video confirms, is very important!
Got fit across five different 1-hour sessions in building a new bag this season: SIM2 Max Driver, Ping G425 Max 3-wood, TaylorMade P770 3i-PW, Ping Glide 3.0 wedges in 50, 54, and 58, and an Odyssey White Hot OG 7S putter. The irons and wedges really manage the gaps well and are evenly spaced in degrees of loft and related distance. I opted for an extra wedge while removing a fairway wood, and I kept the 3i and 4i because I love hitting and controlling them off the tee.
Now that I have a simulator in my garage, I am going to spend this winter working on my gapping. I am really liking the idea of the overlap at the top of the bag vs the bottom of the bag.
I got fitted for Titleist AP1 714's when they were first released. 4 through to 2 gap wedges. the fitting was a good experience but I walked away with standard length, standard loft & standard lie. the 4i was my go to club from most tee's as I just couldn't hit a driver (was scared killing someone on another fairway). But after a handful of lessons the driver is working for the first time ever. what a great game it is when you actually have a chance at pars and occasional birdies.
I got for for irons and wedges at titleist last year and it has made such a big difference. I kept my bag set up the same as it was always something that worked for me, got titleist t100 from 4-pw and some vokeys for 50, 54 and 58 degrees. I definitely like the chunkier irons at the top end that really sold it, while I wanted to go cbs. Also got myself a hybrid and driving iron with the same low flight shaft in, driving iron for summer and hybrid for winter as I rarely need to got much more than that off the tees. Really changed how I approached round knowing I didn't need to hit Woods off every tee
In my bag is: Driver, 3 Hybrid 4-wood, 5-PW, 52, 60. I have never had a fit, so it is all what I am feeling to play that day, but I love my 8 & 9 iron :-)
Mark, I was also inspired by rinky back in the day - went to a hybrid 4 and 5 and never looked back. 5h suddenly felt like hitting a 9i! I recently dropped another iron for a hybrid and it’s so easy to hit I feel like I’m cheating some days. Now playing 4-6 hybrids and 7-W in the irons and I no longer feel like I lose out on launch in the mid/long irons. I also play 7w 4w, again to maximize launch as I tend to hit on the lower side and always need help stopping on greens from 200+ yards (on the odd occasion I hit them, of course!)
Thanks to you mark i have changed my bag set up so I stop at a 6 iron and swapped to hybrids. Before I playing all the way down from pw to 4 but mixed it up as your videos showed me I wasn’t doing myself any favors hitting a 4 and 5 iron
Good food for thought. In fact my coach pointed something like this out to me at the weekend. I current use Cobra King f 7 driver, 3 wood and 3 hybrid (19 deg), with a taylormade burner 4 h (22 deg) . Irons are 5 (25 deg) to 9 plus pitching wedge Taylor made burner plus. I also have a Srizon 56 wedge , Taylor made 52 gap and 60 degree Dunlop lob wedge 9. I thing my coach pointed out was to rather club up by 1 club that try thrash a lower club to avoid falling short on approach mis-hits! suddenly I am hitting more greens!
Great video, that 200+ yard shot is a real riddle for us higher handicap players (23), have a 3 iron but can’t hit it , never got on with fairway woods or hybrids so usually hit a 4 iron and hopefully run it on .
I play 3 iron up to PW with 2 lob wedges in the bag, Only 2 woods in the bag with 3 wood & Driver...always preferred striking irons and never been scared of using long irons and generally much more consistent with them
9.5 D, 15 deg FW, 19 deg hybrid, 4-pw T200, 48-10 bent to 47, 54-12, 60-8. I'll swap a 22 deg FW in for the 4 when it's wet or I need the carry in the 220 yard department. Thanks for the video. I've never thought about overlapping the long end of my bag like the short end of bag for better versatility. It's probably because I adore my 3-wood and couldn't imagine parting with it, until now, that is.
I recently got fitted for a set of Callaway Apex Pro 4-AW. First round out after getting them I shot my best round. I think it was more the confidence it gave me knowing I have what was fit to me more than just having new clubs. Thanks for the video Mark.
Love my 7 and 5 woods. And I bag 3 wedges, 50, 54, 58
Awesome video! One of the best. Cheers boys!
That's why I am really considering changing the 56 to 58, so I should have the best of both worlds.
onioni03 where are you based buddy?
Always thought provoking ideas not to be ignored, great commentary.
I play: Driver, 3 wood, 3 Hybrid, 4-PW, 50, 54, 58. Found my gapping between clubs is something I have focused for on recently!
Exactly what I play. Do you play a combo set as well?
@@steviewonder2492 Kind of, I've got Mizuno MP53 Irons 4-PW with a Callaway epic flash 3 hybrid. Had the irons quite a while, want to upgrade at some point to a set of Apex pro 21 irons!
same as me! nice.
My bag is exactly the same. I'll may swap in a 4 hybrid in the winter when my swing isn't as good.
Driver, mini driver instead of 3w, 5w lofted to 4w, Rescue or 2i, 3i, 5i-9i, 48, 52, 58 Vokey 8s.
I’ve had a puff of the good stuff and this feels like the most educational video for a new golfer
That was an awesome discussion, on things to take into account when purchasing a club and the uses and the distance achievable. Really appreciate it.
Thanks for sharing your advice on the golf bag planning. Wonderful
I love it.
I have exactly the same with a tour ad shaft and its a belter, very versatile and super easy to hit
My Favourite club is my 8 Iron. My set up is Driver (9 degrees), 3 Wood (15 degrees), 19 & 22 Hybrid, 5-P in my irons, 52 & 58 Wedges and a mallet putter.
Great vid as always guys.
I'd love to see you review the Cleveland hy-wood.
Love to see that you finally got a microphone on each of you much easier to understand what's being said.
This was a very entertaining video . I agree that club gapping is very important. I however have gone with
one manufacture for my clubs SW-GW-AW-PW-9-8-7-6-5HB-4HB-5W-3W-DR with these and half - 3/4- full swing
it's relatively easy to control distance and flight.
Spot on. I have a 23 degree 4 utility and a 22 degree 4 hybrid. The hybrid is around 10-15 yards further than the utility.
Ping eye 2 irons 6-PW, I’ve got the 4 and 5 but can’t hit them so they stay at home 😂
Just flipped to a set of ping i25's, 2nd time I had them out golfed the best game of my life.
I feel like I’m in between clubs made me laugh after all this talk of options.
Driver, 3 wood, 4-PW, 50, 54 & 58, putter. Think I’m missing a hybrid between 4 iron & 3 wood.
My favorite club is my 56° degree wedge. A) it's my most versatile (chips, pitches, full shots all with low/high control) B) if I'm hitting it I hit a decent previous shot ("just a wedge in)
$$$ is a barrier to my "perfect" bag for me. Trying out clubs, blending sets and swapping between a gap wedge and a second hybrid or third wood all cost $$$. I can't justify 200$ on a club that might not make my bag. Hitting a demo club and using a club for a few rounds or lessons is completely different.
Love the content!
Apex 21, 5-AW, Apex 4 Hybrid, Epic 3 , 5 wood and Epic Max Driver 10.5 degree, 52 and 58 degree wedges. Love all the videos gents!
Driver, 3Hybrid, 5-P/A/G, 56
Big gap current in my 200+ to driver until I finish my set.
My favorite golf club is…
Driver
3-wood
2 hybrid
4 hybrid
5&6 Srixon u85
7-pw Srixon 765
50, 54, and 58 wedges
Scotty Cameron phantom 5.5
-would love 3 dozen z-star mark. Thanks!!
Some old clubs here but work a treat for me
XR Speed driver, stiff flex at 9.5
XR Speed 3 Wood, stiff flex at 15
Cobra baffler trail + hyb 19
Cobra baffler trail + hyb 25
Wilson di7 (I know they're old but I do love them) 5-pw.
48, 54 and 60 wedges.
The gapping sits lovely for me so far. Certainly my clubs for the next year while I improve.
Driver: Callaway Epic Speed, FW: Callaway Epic Flash, Hybrid 3: Callaway Mavrik pro, i4-i5: Mizuno 921 Forged, i6-i9: Mizuno 921 Tour, PW-50-54-58: Callaway Jaws. Great channel. Would love some srixon
Just put a new grip on my 30 year old putter. Feels like new and works like a wonder wand.
Another good vid. Keep it going.
Hello Mark, 5i to PW, wedges 50,54,58,60. Driver, 4w, 7w and putter...63 years old;)

Srixon z745, 5-PW. I also have a 4 iron but I only carry that when it’s windy.

'MY FAVOURITE CLUB IS..' my Adams 2iron DHY. Spent loads on the rest of my bag and tried to find better in this one. But can 2014 it's just amazing
I feel like I’m in between clubs - love it
Thanks Mark. Seems I was on the right track. I have been wat hing your videos since almost the beginning. Bought a ping i20 based on your review. (And yes tested them for sure as well). Keep going. Advised my wife to start looking as well.
Thank you for watching. Love you both 👍
I like the tip on overlap of the longer clubs
Great video, my setup is driver, 3 hybrid, 6 Iron, 8 Iron, pitching wedge, 64° lob wedge, putter
Driver (10.5 deg)
4 wood (15 deg)
Hybrid (21 deg)
5-P mizuno irons
49/55/59 deg wedges.
Odyssey hot metal-x 7 putter
The wedges were blended with my old clubs but I can manipulate them well enough to sack off the 49 which is now too close to the set wedge! My favourite club is my putter! I was never fit for it but I love it!
I have 5 thru pw, 3 wedges, 2 hybrids no fairway wood, driver and putter. Great video Mark and Coach. Favorite club is my hybrid 3.
5-pw irons. 50-54-58 wedges. Made a significant improvement taking the 4 iron out and using a 22degree hybrid!
My irons set up is now 5-PW after I bought a rinky inspired 22 hybrid which quickly became my fav club and transformed my approach game (and made my 4iron have a time out in the shed). It’s excellent at getting Srixon golf balls about of the rough by the way .. free my gift!
Driver/3Wood/5 Wood / 4-PW then 3 wedges and a putter.
Good idea for a video! Been fitted so happy I have no gaps……. Well I think so. 😁
Driver, 3W, 19 hybrid, 23 hybrid, 5I- PW, 46, 52, 56. I used to have a 60 but recently swapped it out for the 19 hybrid, already making gains and not losing anything in the wedge department 👍
I play set 4-GW with a 52 and 56 in addition. I moved away from 2 hybrids found the 4 and 5 iron more consistent.
Great video. I play Driver, 3 wood, 5 wood, 3 hybrid- G425 max; 5-GW 716 AP1; 58 Callaway wedge.
Bag make is,
Driver 11.5, 5 wood, 5 hybrid, 5- pw , 48, 54, 60.
Oh yes and current fav is 5 wood.
TM CB Daytona OS Putter,
Cleveland 58 deg RTX 588, Cleveland 54 deg RTX 588, Cleveland 48 deg RTX 588,
TM M2 PW, TM M2 9, Wilson Launch Pad 8,
TM M6 31 deg 7 Hybrid, TM M6 28 deg 6 Hybrid, TM M6 25 deg 5 Hybrid, TM M6 22 deg 4 Hybrid,
TM Sim 19 deg 3 Hybrid, Callaway Big Bertha 18 deg 5 wood
and finally Callaway Epic Max 10.5 deg Dirver. Golf Ball Titleist pro V1.
Lots of hybrids in my set. I just find them so easy to hit compared to irons. No brainer for me to go as deep into the set as possible with hybrids.
Cheers
Ben, Sydney Australia
Excluding the putter, I have Driver, 3 Wood, 2Hybrid, 5-SW (Cobra SZ), 48, 50 and 58. I know my distances with each club and this set gives me the confidence that I'll have the right club in the bag for whatever distance I need.
Current iron make up = 3-PW ping I3 blades. A bit unforgiving for my #25 handicap, but they still get me around the course each week.
Thanks for the great content boys!
My favorite club is my Ping G400 LST driver. Also love my 4 different 2-ball -putters.
Currently using 5i - PW in irons, a utility 4i then into hybrids and woods.
The new bag replaced a set based around Ping Eye2 irons which play GREAT and are still relevant, especially with good grips as you pointed out.
I use the following iron layout: 4-GW PXG 0311P, 54 and 58 degree Vokey SM8 wedges. I've also got a PXG 0317 17 degree Hybrid.
I play 3 iron up to PW with 2 lob wedges in the bag, Only 2 woods in the bag with 3 wood & Driver...always preferred striking irons and never been scared of using long irons and generally much more consistent with them
Cobra Radspeed 5-LW all at 36.5 inches , LOVE them
So need to sort top end out nice point coach said about the wedges I need the three.
4-pw, 52 and 58. Favorite is the 58. Love chipping with it
9.5 D, 15 deg FW, 19 deg hybrid, 4-pw T200, 48-10 bent to 47, 54-12, 60-8.
