Look, i was born and raised in 2:44 South Bend Indiana. Everything said in this video, is true. It is a violent and dangerous city. It needs to be confessed. However, there are definitely some really great families with much class. I am a city boy. I grew up a little rough around the edges. Even with a great Familia. The city is hard on young men. With that said, i met a great girl from Gilmore Park area. The Browns. I learned a lot from them. So there are so many great people, locals in the area. Also, the University of Notre Dame is located in the city and attracts so many great people to the city. That is definitely the shinning light in not only the city, but state as well. Especially during football season. It really reflects on the entire downtown area. I recently moved to San Antonio Texas last year. And i love it here. During the holiday in May (Memorial Day week) i returned to my hometown, and it was great! I rode an e-scooter all day and had a great time meeting new people mostly around Notre Dame and the people that are so lively in the area. The East Race River area is so fun. Bars and what not plague the area with fun activities. The Morris Performing Arts Centre is always having a celebrity for a great show (Jerry Seinfeld and Kevin Hart to name a few). So like anywhere, its what you make it. There are a good amount of people from Chicago in the city as well, with them being so close in proximity to one another. Ill always root for my hometown from Texas. Go IRISH!!!
I live in South Bend and don't find it to be any more dangerous than any other similar sized and economically situated metropolitan area. Quite less actually if you compare it to Gary, Flint, Detroit, South Chicago, Benton Harbor, and about half a dozen other cities that are within 100 or so miles of SBI.
@@risingcrimenews You seem to be projecting you irrational fear(s) on this average town. May I suggest that you visit South Bend? I have a feeling you may change your mind and find that you enjoy the genuine character of the place.
@@risingcrimenews No offense taken...Statistics never lie but, they can tell multiple truths. I'm not implying that statistics aren't a useful tool, they are baseline data to a comprehensive study/story.
Ask any Southbend police officer or any healthcare worker at Memorial’s ER how dangerous South Bend is. Your chances of becoming a victim are extraordinarily high. I don’t know where you live in South Bend but the west side and Southside are extremely violent
Was born there in 1949. Back then low crime rate. Was great place to live. Back in the early part of 20th century it was #5 most important manufacturing city in the US! Started to go downhill when Studebaker left in 1964. Only things worth looking at in entire area are notre dame and stude.museum. whole west side is mostly ghetto.
The subliminal message in this comment...There are NOT enough white people, in the opinion of the Ted Lawrence, living on the westside today. The westside is populated with working class folks who live paycheck to paycheck...The same as it has ALWAYS been on that side of town even during "The Good Old Days".
I am sure that there are some. Most of them would live on East side. Historically East side was german, english, irish protestants. West side majority roman catholic. Heavy in Polish and Hungarian immigrants and others. East the more upscale side of town. I grew up on North West side. It was heavily blue collar. Since your last name is Welsh y'all would probably have live on East Side.
Talking to people and judging by the comments... people above a certain socio-economic strata and crime/strife are like two ships passing in the night; your path in life always takes you within inches and seconds of the ugliness such that you think it's not there at all except in out of the way parts... But as others in other cities like L.A. are learning is that it will eventually creep closer and closer to your door; typically at that point people stop being eye rolly about those who complain about quality of life crimes.
@@Mute2024 That idea seems to be rational 🤔...I hope it works 😉 I don't see real estate value decreasing in South Bend, despite the "dangerous" fantasy that folks enjoy😏🥱
@@Mute2024 Lol...I have a feeling the stability of South Florida's population will not soon be threatened by a mass migration to Northern Indiana...As I write this the temperature in South Bend is 22°F 🥶
@@troywebb7657 lol no I meant the mass migration to Florida is huge. I agree Indiana probably won’t see that from Floridians who value year round warm weather.
I love driving down Michigan St and singing the song crackhead..they are always around.

Completely sucks. Born and raised there. Except for the sub divisions, its like a Detroit and Chicago now. Dangerous.
How is east side
This is why America needs more Democrats to work on equality. So every city can have a chance to be as bad as South Bend. It's about fairness.
Not safe at all

It’s a great strategy to bring the property values down and keep folks out at the same time I guess lol
