When did Christmas become about the incarnation and not about Christ's birth? I'm over 50, and for all my life, it was taught in Christian churches that it was Christ's birth. I've noticed how a lot of you all have been switching up your doctrine to fit a certain narrative, but it's still not biblical.

Christmas is Pagan. Christianity has a lot of pagan rituals as well. Both systems are foreign and were introduced to us by the same source

@whatshatnin4572 The main thing is that not only is Christmas, but a lot of "Christian" traditions are unbiblical. The true and original Christianity became corrupted once it was taken over by the Gentile nations led by the late 1st century "Church fathers" and the decisions they made at the ecumenical councils.

@GreaterWorksDiscipleship For over 50 years and still to this day, there are several churches that teach Dec 25th as the day Christ was born. Even to this day, there will be churches having Christmas plays with the nativity scene teaching children that Dec. 25th was the day Christ was born. This is even included in songs and carols sung in the church in honor of Christmas. Songs that were written long before we were born. For example, "Silent Night" 1859, "O Holy Night 1843 conveying Christmas as the night Christ was born. So when you say it's not about the birth DATE, but about the birth and incarnation while the Church has called it the birth date comes across a deceitful.
So if you're saying Jesus became incarnate on Dec.25th then there's not much difference in the church celebrating that day as the birth date. That sounds like word play when you try to justify celebrating Christmas as celebrating the event of his incarnation and birth vs celebrating the actual birth date when in actuality this celebration didn't originate within the old or new testament writings of the Bible. Who cares whether or not if we believe that it's pagan, but rather was it ordained by God is a better question? Did it originate with the Christians of the New Testament? No, it did not.

The tree has no inherent pagan qualities of its own. Pagan qualities are assigned by the individual. If the individual is a true worshipper of Jesus and the Father, then no pagan qualities are assigned.

So drinking juice as a symbol drinking blood is not pagan to you? Pagans were handing out water baptisms hundreds of years before Jesus. Humans were partaking in human blood sacrifices thousands of years before Jesus. Yahweh asked his priests to kill animals and sprinkle blood on their toes. Sprinkling blood over your body aint pagan to you. Jesus say he is the sacrificial lamb. Well who goes around sacrificing lambs? Pagans do. The bible has just as many pagan rituals as any other pagan mythology. Aint you washed in the blood of Jesus. Bathing in blood dont sound a bit odd to you Good Brotha.

You got it all twisted. The Christmas celebration as a whole was a ritual to celebrate fertility and was held during the winter solstice to honor the mythical pagan ‘gods.’ All this dates back before the birth of the Son of Mary Christians call Jesus. “The use of evergreen trees, wreaths, and garlands to symbolize eternal life was a custom of the ancient Egyptians, Chinese, and Hebrews. Tree worship was common among the pagan Europeans and survived their conversion to Christianity in the Scandinavian customs of decorating the house and barn with evergreens at the New Year to scare away the Devil and of setting up a tree for the birds during Christmastime. It survived further in the custom, also observed in Germany, of placing a Yule tree at an entrance or inside the house during the midwinter holidays.
“The origins of Christmas are complex and intertwined with various cultural and religious traditions, including some pagan elements. While Christmas is primarily celebrated as a Christian holiday commemorating the birth of Jesus Christ, it coincides with the winter solstice and incorporates elements from pre-Christian traditions.
The winter solstice (for the northern hemisphere) takes place on 22nd December, the day when the Earth’s axis is tilted furthest away from the sun. It is the shortest day of the year and is meant to mark the beginning of winter in the northern hemisphere. But it is also a time of hope because the days begin lengthening again as spring is coming. Ancient civilizations around the world thought this was worthy of great celebration. When the early Christians linked these winter solstice celebrations with Christmas, it simply made the birth of Jesus that much more auspicious.
A lot of people in the modern world may not even know that this winter celebration actually has nothing to do with the scriptures and religion. They may be even more surprised to learn that Christmas celebrations like decorating with holly, putting up Christmas trees, and kissing under the mistletoe are rooted in ancient fertility rituals. These are all symbolic acts to celebrate the fertility of the earth and the approach of the sowing season.
In the first few centuries of Christianity, the Christians wanted to spread their religion around Europe. But they were also quite fascinated by the religions that already existed. They knew that it would be difficult for ordinary people to completely divorce themselves from everything they had always known. This included the celebrations for the winter solstice. They had to give the people something that was familiar and known. Given that Jesus was born around the same time, it was easy enough to incorporate existing traditions into the celebration of the birth of Jesus.
The people of ancient Rome celebrated the winter solstice with the festival of Saturnalia. It was meant as a way to celebrate and give thanks to the Roman god of agriculture, Saturn. By the time the winter solstice came out, the last planting season had been completed. Thus, the ancient Romans could then happily engage in an entire week of festivities. The Saturnalia festival was usually celebrated between 17th December and 24th December. Even now, Christmas is not really a celebration of one day. It is called the Christmas season and festivities start well in advance of 25th December. In the Saturnalia festival, 25th December was considered the climax and had a special name - Brumalia.
During Saturnalia and Brumalia, all social hierarchies were overturned. The people, including the Roman slaves, indulged in widespread merrymaking. The slaves could even take part in public celebrations and not work on the last day of the festival. Public gambling was a big event and everyone was allowed to wear colorful clothes. The Phrygian cap - worn by the freed Roman slaves - was worn as a symbol of the freedom of the season. Many of the modern Christmas traditions originated in the ancient Roman Empire.
However, there might have been a darker side to the Saturnalia festival. An innocent Roman citizen would be elected as the Lord of Misrule for a period of 30 days for the festival. This was a temporary king of sorts who would preside over the wild partying and drunken antics during the celebration. On the last day, this Lord of Misrule would be sacrificed to Saturn on the altar. This marked the end of anarchy and a return to social conventions. There is no conclusive evidence for this, although folklorists like James Frazer and Mikhail Bakhtin have theorized about it.
The Romans had another festival around the same time - Dies Natalis Solis Invicti (birth of the invincible sun). This was dedicated to the Iranian sun god, Mithra. In pre-Zoroastrian Iran, Mithra was the god of the sun, justice, and war. He was heavily associated with the Roman sun god Sol. Emperor Aurelian declared that 25th December was the birthday of the ‘Unconquerable Sun’ and it was a festival mostly celebrated by upper-class male Romans. In fact, Mithraism was a special and select cult. It is interesting that Christians decided to celebrate the birth of Jesus on this very day. What is also interesting is that one of the epithets of Jesus is the ‘sun of justice.’“ Reference: (History Cooporative dot org)
The information is out there for all to find out! And it gets even worse than this. I conclude that Christmas is a blasphemous holiday that has nothing to do with anything religious! Christmas is of the devil and no one should celebrate it. It just gets Christian’s in debt following a tradition that may take on a different meaning in your head, but is deeply steeped in idolatry and worship of demons and the devil himself. For goodness sake, they actually sacrificed kids back in the day in the name of the harvest to come. You should stop this practice NOW! All it does is make you spend all your money and run up your credit card for nothing but a spot in hell. Now, don’t hate me. Hate the message, but make it right with the one true God of all.

If you look at these holidays they are all European based and the are all about food and survival. Thanksgiving is the time where the Nordics had their last harvest before a rough winter where there is no food. Its celebrated on Thursdays in honor of Thor.
Christmas goes back to the Nordic as well. Santa probably starts with Odin and Yule celebration. There is something that goes on at this time that is probably pretty powerful - which is why so many different mythologies celebrate this time of year. All the way up to Jan 6th.

I respectfully disagree… just as the Hebrews worshipped a golden calf…. even after they saw the Hand of GOD personally during the Exodus. Why??? Surely they knew better. Their intentions were not to serve other gods. They thought that since Moses( who was their medium/intermediary to GOD) had died up in the mountain. They relied on their own judgement and rationale and Egyptian customs to fashion an intermediary to communicate with GOD. They were trying to do something that was right in their own eyes. They were wrong and when Moses returned, he was angry and rebuked and GOD was angry with them too and punished them. . It’s the same with Christmas and the tree. The LORX expressly told us not to erect a tree as the pagans in the Book of Jeremiah . That was even wayyy BEFORE Christ . The LORD never told us to celebrate His birthday or tells us what day he was born.!The enemy perverts and counterfeits everything that GOD created. To my brother who posted this, thank you for your service to our country. Consider praying and asking GOD and do some additional research. Christmas has become the most vain holiday filled with grief, pride, anxiety, idolatry and excessive waste. People can barely pay their bills but will go into debt behind a lie. Jesus said that the devil is the “father of lies. ““ He knows how to deceive by mixing in pars of the Truth. Trust GOD, forget about Christmas, people need help every day, not just on Christmas bc it has become an art of the American culture. And what are we teaching our children??? Again, thanks for sharing. Be Blessed.

Any song attuning to RAP is unholy. "But as he which hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation; Because it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy." I Peter 1:15-16 "Sanctify yourselves therefore and be ye holy: for I am the LORD your God." Lev 20:7 "And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me....And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods.... And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, there is a noise of war in the camp.... And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear...Rap MUSIC is NOISE! It is unholy. It's a genre that has Destroyed the Black community. The EDOMITES who you hate, profit and make money off this destruction. And YOUR Israelite brethren use it, sanction it and advance it.
But the Lord says, "speaking to one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord," Once Again, The WORD of GOD "psalms and hymns and spiritual songs".
So don't come here and use this as an illustration to slam Christman. The Elder here have given nothing but fact regarding some symbols and traditions of Christmas.
