If you look at these holidays they are all European based and the are all about food and survival. Thanksgiving is the time where the Nordics had their last harvest before a rough winter where there is no food. Its celebrated on Thursdays in honor of Thor. Christmas goes back to the Nordic as well. Santa probably starts with Odin and Yule celebration.
