  • #dafobra #motovlog #motovlogger This video details the complete installation of a Clear Alternatives LED tail light for a 2004 -- 2006 CBR600F4i or a 1999 -- 2000 CBR600F4 ( banana seat CBR600 ). The turn signals that are in the Hotbodies undertail of my bike are not visible enough to be safe, so I opted to swap out the stock OEM Honda light for this one. It has the turn signals integrated into the light, and they flash sequentially, making them more visible to others. This video covers removal and reinstallation. A side benefit of this tail light that I also really like is the flashing effect that the brake light has when activated. It is similar to the brake light modulators many riders use, but it is already built into this taillight.
    Because of the reduced load on the system that LEDs have, the OEM flasher will usually blink the turn signals much faster. I retained the directionals in the undertail, but they still they flashed very quickly. Clear Alternatives supplies resistors that can be wired up in series to simulate the load of incandescent lights, but I opted to go a different route. I purchased and installed an electronic flasher unit from CustomLED, and that solved the problem plug and play.
    All in all, I am very pleased with both products, and I feel that my bike is much safer now (hopefully the cagers will look up from their phones long enough to see it)

    Great tutorial video. :) I am very glad you went the proper route and bought the aftermarket flasher relay that you just plug and play. It always bugged me when people did more wire cutting than necessary to wire in another relay.

    yeah Im not a big fan of resistors.. I understand how they work, but their by product is heat (even if its minimal) plus IMO they erase the lower power draw LEDs offer in the first place.. The flasher plug and play. I had wanted to film it but in all honesty by the time I hit record, the flasher would have been done. thanks for the comment

    What a great product. I have seen so many cheap ebay ones on the rd and they are so hard to see. Yours is nice a bright. What a clean install job to.

    Those are a huge improvement for the turn signals. I agree the existing set was a bit too small.

    I don't know why people like doing tail tidy and integrated lights for, me..... I like to keep it OEM. I mean, why mess with Honda quality and stick some unknown generic lights or some dumb Hotbodies or Sharkskin or whatever aftermarket fairing company stuff onto it...... just just NO for me. To each their own, I suppose..... I like to keep mine OEM and genuine only updating it with Japanese Domestic Market stuff if applicable and nice looking. This ain't no Vin Diesel 2 Fast 2 Delirious chrome extended swingarm neon lighting stuff you will see with me! Na'mean?? CLEAN style, baby! TASTE! :) With that said, good job on your project though...... looks pretty good and clean, I like it.

      I actually agree with this.. the next two bikes I had (and have) have stock undertails.. but this one didn't come with it.. but I needed it to be safer so I went with this light.. but yeah stock is often best.

    I dont know if I like the flood left flood right, the way the lines of LED's move. I have one thats similar and I perfer just the on off of the lights together without the sweeping motion.

    I just ordered one for my F4i from Competition Werkes. My stock light has two bulbs in it with two separate harnesses and the Competition Werkes one only has one harness coming out of it aside from the turn signal harnesses. Where does my one harness from the new one plug into of the two factory ones? Also, the aftermarket one has that giant hole where the one harness comes out from. Shouldn't that be closed off so nothing gets in it? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you

    • @AdamSVT
      @AdamSVT  5 років тому

      hmm... it is possible that the one controls everything,... technically the brake and stop lights are mirrors of each other on each side so probably only one is needed. I'm not sure about the hole questions.. could you maybe make a video and either send it to me or comment it on here?

      Black from tail light goes to green brown on bike. Blue and yellow are turn signals. Red goes to 2 green and yellow wires from both harness. Cut them and join them with the red . yellow goes to 2 black and brown.

      +ShinyRedGrapple LOL you are right.. the lack of protective apparel was evident, but a project like this typically doesnt call for it.. I assure you that no toes were harmed in the filming... thanks for the comment and good luck with your install!

    • @ShinyRedGrapple
      @ShinyRedGrapple 8 років тому

      Well technically the bike can still fall on your leg/foot, which does happen, but that's just the 10+ years of supervisors screaming at me everyday to put on my safety gear talking... Anyways, thanks for the help. People like you making tutorial vids like this are probably the best thing to come out of the internet age!

      +Tommy Rodriguez this bike had a Hotbodies undertail. There are quite a few out there for the F4i. I liked it because it was very finished looking despite the fact that the turn signals which were built in really were not bright.
