  • I like what I'm seeing, a lot. Some early game design problems that I'm sure will be addressed and I look forward to playing this game. Watch more stuff LIVE at TWITCH.TV/DRI374

Good discussion. Thank you. Im worried itll be as good as labyrinth. Because i cant afford to love this pin. And IMO the play and depth and total package of labrinth is top5 of all time. This looks very fun, lets see if the design flaws are fixed, rules are good and shots are fun... also i feel like the avatar theme is better than xmen. I mean comics are fine but xmen means nothing to me. But anybody whom has seen avatar, like half the planet, will feel the nostaglia and excitiment on this game. Xmen playfield looks amazing, but the theme for me falls completely flat so have to see how its done. Like comics are pretty specific in appeal...

Thanks for the insights. I'm in the same boat, I can't afford to like this game as the CE will probably be in the 16K range. Avatar as a theme is lukewarm for me but falls in my wheelhouse.

@DRI374 the thing is your aware of what avatar is. Even if you haven't seen it. Xmen is like 99 percent burnout males with some other males...very few others. It's pretty specific to be a fan and have xmen hit your heartstrings, and even yet know about them. I can't name them or even know anything about them. So there's this incredible playfield detached for me... which is good, though, because I can't afford it, and sterns quality has flushed down the crapper. Look at a relatively simple overall jaws fin that snaps off and causes airballs a true engineering fail. Any 100s of other issues....I'm weary of the hands mechs and sentinel on xmen, and their longevity...

Yeah, X-Men is like "cool comic bro but I have a C64, you still want to thumb through those pages" to me. I'm also so over MCU you have no idea. It's the worst era of trash coming out from Hollywood and I don't understand how it keeps breaking box office records. I do appreciate that the pinball machines are true to the comics in that sense. Stern (or anyone else for that matter) don't have cycles to do any kind of real-world longevity tests of their design implementations. Hence JAWS being an operators nightmare as things are bending and breaking all over the place. Anyhow, objectively, Avatar *looks* better than X-Men at this point. Which one is the more engaging to play, we'll see. I'm concerned X-Men will be a gimmicky thing with the reverse shots and outlane playfield.

Honest question, does the UV stuff work in a room with a lot of light? I haven't played Stranger things in both environments to see the difference. I wonder if it washes out in a bright environment. The arcades I frequent are pretty well lit.

You'll notice a slight difference in mood of the game in a well lit room but not anywhere near the bombastic effect you get in a moderately lit or dark room.

Breaking news, someone found out JJP was using external UV lighting for the sizzle trailer. We'll see where this goes.

@@DRI374 Yea, it did seem really bright didn't it. It is a super cool effect, but I don't think the average user or pinball place (whether its a bar, arcade, bowling alley, etc) is dark enough to enjoy this all the time. Maybe sometimes.

Why they didn’t put in an upper playfield in is beyond me. Floating plastics look terrible. Lower playfield looks terrible. Uncanny X-men sales will be fine. JJP price point is a sale killer. Pass

I like what I see but price will kill all hype. I'm also worried about all the "first design" problems this game will exhibit with the under playfield plexi glass ledges and exposing wood/metal on the places I pointed out.
