The console was custom made by Bourque Ratté & Associés (HauptwerkConsultant.com) in Québec, and we built a dedicated computer to run the Hauptwerk software and all the peripherals. The amazing sound quality comes from the built-in Hauptwerk recorder. There are quite a few providers of sample sets that plug into Hauptwerk -- this recording uses the St. Étienne Abbey organ in Caen, France, available from the Czech outfit Sonus Paradisi.

We do not have the resources for a pipe organ -- which would be a money pit for us -- and I think our congregation would be more pleased with such a thing than they imagine. I have tried to hold the line on having a good organ because I know its value to a congregation. Thank you again!
A Hauptwerk organ is a good solution for a small congregation. Once you have the console and the system set up, there is really no ongoing maintenance cost, unlike a pipe organ. And you can add additional sample sets with time to play different repertoire on historically appropriate organs, which is a flexibility you obviously don't have with a pipe organ. With a good surround-sound audio system, you can sufficiently replicate the experience of having the actual pipes in the room. And also, if you stream your services, it's very convenient to be able to mix the organ in as a separate audio track.
