    Andre Johnson was everything you want in a hometown sports hero. He wasn’t flashy or in-your-face, he just went out every game and did the damn thing. A total class act and someone truly worth looking up to. It was really something special to watch him do what he did best for all those years, lots of great memories.

      That's how I've felt about AJ Green. He moved on, and I think he and the Bengals have been better for it, but he was such a great player to root for, even if he wasn't a true hometown guy. He gave us hope after a really shitty decade. Plus of course you have the fight with Jalen Ramsey which mirrors this video a lot haha

I've been watching sports since 1990 and I'm still waiting on Houston to make it to the conference championship game. Literally every team has made it at least that far in my lifetime (1980). The Texans are literally the only team in the league who has never made it that far

      @@KWCline91 don't take offense to this but you seem like a young guy. One of my first sports memories was going to the dome to watch Earl Campbell. I watched the oilers start 10-0, miss a fg in Washington that would have got them to 11-0 just to watch them blow it. Finishing 11-5 and not getting a first round bye. Then blowing it to the broncos. Next season 35-3 happened. Year after that buddy Ryan punches Kevin gilbride and the oilers blow it against Montana and the chiefs. The oilers never made the playoffs again. They move. We get the Texans. The Texans finally have a good team and look like superbowl contenders. Then for some reason Kubiak decides to do a qb sneak with Schaub in garbage time and basically ruins his career. Then we finally get a franchise qb and everything blows up. Why should I be optimistic?

    • @capswole81
      @capswole81 2 роки тому +24

      Well he ended up breaking himself because he said his biggest regret was not fighting back. It’s funny how years later Finnegan still thinking about it and Johnson moved on. So Finnegan’s tactic back fired on him.

      It's more like Batman finally crossing the line and straight up dropping Joker off a high rise and the Joker suddenly realises, "fvck, maybe this went too far..." right before he dies. That's Finnegan. He was pushing Johnson's buttons but he was clearly not prepared to actually catch hands. Johnson came out of it unscathed with the win, the support of his peers, no suspension, and enjoyed the rest of his HoF career as the guy that spoke softly but carried a bit stick. Finnegan only gets remembered as the guy who earned a spanking from Johnson.

      As a Texans fan since the beginning, I can't say I like him, but I can respect Innegan's play style. As an old-school Rockets fan, we had a similar guy on that team-Vernon Maxwell-who they probably wouldn't have won either of their championships without. Getting in the other player's head may not be the most glamorous way to play defense, but if it works, it works.

    It is so easy to root for a calm, serene legend like AJ80. But the ending part of this video explaining the potential justification for Finnegan's actions (sticking in a cut=throat league, using an on-field persona to mess with better physically-talented opponents, etc). I obviously subscribe to AJ's actions, but that's just me. When the stakes are the highest and your paycheck is on the line, I do not blame someone for using mind games and/or leaning into an entertainment narrative to stay earning..... Amazing video, as always.
