Jon is such an inspiration! Thank you so much for sharing. I often come back to this tutorial, just to be motivated again and to refresh my memory to the valuable tipps and tricks, Jon shows. Kudos to the proko-Team. You are a real gem of art and the arts community. Love, to be a part of it.
Coming from traditional paining it is not that new to me(what is not bad or so) I mostly suffer getting the proportions on the screen right...somehow its different on screen ( thats why I often do the sketch still on Paper...>
are you using a screen tablet? flipping the canvas or for some people freely rotating helps a lot. On paper you move yourself or the paper itself but on screen you stop seeing mistakes looking at the screen straight on for too long.
Thanks for the video❤️ I notice that you have a small common mistake with the figure’s balance - in real life, he would fall. It is a known rule in contrapposto figure. The balance of the figure will be stable if the point of the jugular notch in the midpoint of the supporting food will be on the same vertical. (But this rule applies only If he fully stands on one foot)
lmao I've been using an old Wacom One for around three years and it still works pretty well, it's pitifully small tho. Did they make a new model that sucks?
Hi, I teach art and I'm desperate to find a lesson you did (It was a guest maybe Marshall) where he showed a 3d object he drew in art school. It was a cube with a handle projecting equally from each face. The handles were like old-fashioned beer pumps. If you know what I mean could you please, please post a link. I've spent hours and hours trying to find it.
I don't have the specific video for you, but if you go to Marshall's page on the Proko website (www.proko.com/profile/marshall/lessons) and scroll to the very bottom you'll see all the videos he's done with Stan that are not Draftsmen episodes. There's like 13 videos there of demos or lectures that Marshall has done, hopefully one of them is the one you're looking for.
After further investigating it seems this is part of a course which is behind a pay wall, I assume this is where the brushes are. The course looks great, but steep for me. Maybe someday...
The artist isn't doing a 1:1 copy. In fact, I would say his stylized changes were aesthetically more pleasing. His painting's proportions are better than real life. If you want a 1:1 copy, then stick with a photo, but even a photo isn't "proportional" depending on the lens you use. In fact, almost all lens cause distortions of proportions.
whats the point in anything then? the point is to enjoy the process. AI can also make music and people still learn to play instruments, because its fun
@@markghammartist If your goal is to just do it for fun sure, but if you wanna make art for a living you're screwed. No point in pushing yourself to a high level at all, it's not worth anything.
@@markghammartist I'm sorry if I come off combative. I'm just really worried. I feel like I've wasted my whole life. I've been scrambling trying to find a new career because I figured there wouldn't be any jobs in the future.

This might be by far the most valuable tutorial on the entire youtube :) Well done !

You can use grid method or another measuring tip that Dorian Iten uses

Tho the one foot is farther forward. And that would help balance the character
Thank you sir for this beautiful content ... This is very understanding..❤🌿🔥🌍
Amazing! Thank you for this
Thank you :D
The "wacom one" sure has a lot of "one star" reviews....

May I know where I can get the brush he's using in the video?
i was wondering the same. Spent the entire day trying to find them...
I've been looking too. The narrator specifically says "the brushes I've included'.
