ILLENIUM recently released his 'Hearts on Fire' EP featuring three stunning songs, of which 'Hearts on Fire' was my absolute favorite. I decided to remake it in FL Studio and share it with you as a tutorial, deconstructing every step and part of it. I hope this walkthrough will inspire you to create some beautiful music (or anything, really) too.

It's so cool to see all the different sounds come together in a familiar track. Some sounded very surprising to me on their own, but I guess with an ear for it and training one understands the songs better and can craft them from individual instruments. Still amazing work 👌

How much time did you spent in making the guitar intro??
Thank you so much! I think it took me around 10-15 minutes to figure out the intro, verse and outro melodies, and another 30 to get the guitar to sound the way it does in the final remake. Really appreciate your kind words

Thanks so much for those kind words! Absolutely! I'm using a custom built laptop from PCSpecialist (they're a company from the UK), I'm running an i7, 32GB Ram, 3 TB in total storage space between the laptop's drives and my externals. I'd recommend similar specs for starting out!

This sounds soo much accurate than any other remakes ive heard….but one thing that bugs me is…..is it okay to let those synths, guitars and the bass play together without any EQ? Because i dont see them routed to a mixer bus for post processing and it still sounds cleaner😳
Not every channel strip needs an EQ all the time! I tend to only EQ when absolutely necessary, I prefer to focus on volume and work with compression in order to make elements sit appropriately!

Where did you find the Key Switches sound for the guitar? Great video also
Thank you so much! The keyswitches are part of this particular Kontakt library and can be applied by using the G# and A notes in one of the bottom octaves (don’t exactly know which exact octave) on a midi keyboard/in the piano roll. Hope that answers your question!
