- In this rambling video I take you through what I did to the CMW Erie #7265 Depressed Flatcar to make it a little bit more prototypical. This isn't really a "Product Review"- that was the previous video. This video shows how I did indeed fix the warp/twisting issue, added a "real" wood deck, added lugs to each end of the depressed deck, and weathered the car.
This is a very nice car- especially if you get one that is not warped or twisted! However, I would check prototype photos and/or plans of your car to make sure your model matches the prototype as closely as possible- if you're into that kind of thing. You really need a photo(s) from the actual era you are modeling- these cars tended to be long-lived and did change over time.
Next up, I need to load this car!
Great work as always Rob! Really looks great!
Nice work. This flatcar looks like the business now!
What you have done makes a big difference, the car looks even better now. I think you've removed my reservations about this model; think I need one now. That is beautiful.
The car turned out great Rob!!
Nice work on the weathering too!!
Thank for the video ... appreciate your attention to detail with these cars!!
👍👍👍Awesome work, you sir are a artist
Been looking forward to the update on this.
I was only thinking about you the other day, missing you and your videos, and here you are!! So good to hear your voice and see your creativity again. Take it easy and I'm looking forward to your next video already :) Your only Bulgarian fan :D
I'm so glad your back. I like the water stain look on the one end of the car. Hang in there Mr. Bennett.
Thank you for sharing. Looks awesome.
Wow Rob, that really came out great!! I will have to keep an eye out for something similar in N scale. Thanks for all the info and videos on transformers. Without you sharing your knowledge I wouldn’t have been able to create transformer loads for my layout that are prototypical.
That depressed flat car looks super cool with the pristine transformer contrasting against the weathered car. Great project brilliantly executed!
THANK YOU FOR SHAING FULL DETAILED VIDEO
Nice work as always Rob. I always enjoy these small detailed projects. -John
Great 👍 work as usual Mr Bennett thanks for the informative video 😮🎉
Looks good. I like it.
I actually thought about getting one of these from Stephen and Cinthia! I think I officially made my mind!
glad to see you are getting back at it sir, been missing your videos. Hopefully you have been healthy as well.
Well, you know, Rob, if you would treat that flat car better maybe it wouldn't be depressed!
Just kidding! Very nice job on that car!
Drooping couplers are easy to shim using styrene. Use the coupler gauge to get the right thickness. I’ve been doing it to Athearn cars since the 1970’s . Glue it in, Paint it black or rust and that’s it
hello stephen it's is randy and i like yours video is cool thanks stephen friends randy
Well done.
Looks good with the modifications and the straightening out of the warpage. Only YOU (and us now you've let the cat out of the bag) would notice there are three lugs instead of four! Have you tried a white vinegar and wire wool mix on the wood to weather it before? Stinks until it's dry but it gives a realistic grey weathered finish. Cheers
Interesting...I will have to try that!
Hello. Klasse Video 👍👍👍 Thanks.......Fim👮🚂🤚
Thanks for the idea of using the real wood, flat car decking. Also, what is the manufacturer of the silver, Westinghouse transformer? I would like to get one for my Missouri Pacific depressed center flat car. Thanks for your help.
Love those transformers. I’m looking for some big ones for a lowboy semi build in this scale. Where’s you get those or did you scratch them? The flat car looks amazing.
I found your product review, very nice mods you made too. They’re very nice.. but have you found anyone selling 3D printed transformers in resin?
@@colossalbigfoot256- Yes, check out Shapeways. I know they are not the cheapest, but there is a growing collection of transformers in HO Scal e(and others...) on the site.
When are going to do an operations video?
👌👍🔥
nice !!!!
Rob the shut off valves you added to the transformer , were did you get them?
I use a combination of Cal-Scale and Precision Scale valves. They both make several differnt types, including Glode valves in different sizes. I use mainly HO Scle, ut doi have some small O scale valves for the larger Main Drains. The Precision Scale ones are especially nice (albeit a tad pricy!)
Ok thank you.
Rob where did you get the pattern for the lugs, or did you free hand?
They were cut from .020 styrene, free-hand. I know what they should look like. Eh, they are close...
Thanks I thought that was the answer, so I did it my self and it work. Thanks
