The US team played with confidence and fun. You could see it on all their faces. I watched Shaw play in Frisco TX and she was superb. Having Mal back added a ton of confidence and looks like she was never injured!!! Go USA🎉

I don't think Japan played like they normally do. The Japan from the last World Cup could easily pass through our press with no problem. So I wouldn't draw too many conclusions from that match. Shaw certainly has quality, so I am curious how/when/where Hayes will use her. We also have Lily, who needs to get some minutes to see how she integrates with our attacking talent. 10s aren't plug-n-play, so having the option for 3 different 10s in the squad gives Hayes a luxury come tournament time.

Would you have thought Japan didn't play normally if they would have won? May the US has and will improve more, you sound as if the US in a scrub team.

@mosijahi3096 Japan was struggling to string 3 passes together, which is not their DNA. So it wouldn't have mattered if they'd won or lost, the Japanese side was more experimental whereas the US got to play a more open game which they prefer. USWNT got knocked out in the quarters so by last WC results they are now just a top 10 side. Spain is better, France, England, Sweden equal to or better.

@@mosijahi3096 This is a great point. I don’t think Japan threw the game or just didn’t put forth effort. Every team wants to beat the Americans. That’s why Japan threw that haymaker in the first 40 seconds. But admittedly the Japanese players said in the post game that they couldn’t figure out how to play out of the U.S defense after that. It was one and done. Imo the fact that the U.S didn’t get rattled and came back to win, was an excellent sign.

@@r2dad282the US has a whole new team, new coaches, and new tactics so your analysis is incomplete. You can’t compare last year’s team to now. Lastly they aren’t close to their potential at the moment because they are style working on several things. All of those teams you just mentioned all I can say is we’ll see by WC.

@mosijahi3096 All those things may be true but the big picture is the two most technical players on the squad weren't developed in the USSF system and have spent time playing professionally outside the NWSL. Shouldn't we expect the programs in this nation to develop talent systematically? There should be half a dozen Smiths, Shaws, Macarios and Yohannes' based on the numbers and dollars we throw at the sport in this country. Spain is doing it but we cannot? Sorry, I can't get that excited about the sport knowing we have one hand tied behind our back, USSF doesn't care and hasn't for over 100 years.

Shaw should be starting. Also, drop Morgan and Rodman from the roster.
