Barghest felt really out of place among the other faeries. She had morals, she was self reflecting, she was self sacrificing, she was loyal to her role as a defender of her people for as long as possible.
Maybe not Barghest herself, but I do recall once reading of an English church where, centuries ago, it was claimed that a black dog burst through the doors one day and tore up the place, with claw marks being found on the church doors
Fate might be one of the best current franchises for the Tragic Hero trope. So many fascinating characters who fight like hell, but are faced with an inescapable doom. It's so good, but so damn soul crushing at the same time
At least she gets a significantly better life in Chaldea. And you can choose her Ascension level, meaning the Black Dog phase never has to happen. As for her curse, is it gone by now?
I do want to say something in particular about her third ascension being depressing like Baobhan Sith's, and it's specifically tied to story completion. If you haven't completed LB 6, she'll ask for a brave knight to slay her, but if you've completed LB 6, she states that for the sake of the knight she slew, she refuses to let the Curse of Britain take hold of her. It especially reflects this with her sharing her voices lines with her Gawain Knight first Ascension, while Sith becomes utterly broken by confronting her true self, and so has unique voice lines to reflect her 'new' old self being surfaced.
For the stormy weather skill: I don’t remember the exact name or details of the legend. But basically a guy gets a troll to build a cathedral in a single night, and the troll then turns to stone when the sunlight touched it
It's a bummer I haven't reached this far into the story so I can't watch these yet :/ I started playing 2 months ago and its taking a while to get through the story... but I'll be back to watch once I'm caught up ~ keep up the great work !

It's implied that being Gawain might have also been putting a cap on the curse but it was unclear if that was intentional or not. I am proud of her though she did everything in her power not to give in to the curse until she literally was not able to anymore and even then she was still fighting. Barghest was a good addition to the Chaldea doggo club

Heya ! So, a few years ago, me and a friend were working on a horror story about hellhounds (sadly the project never ended up being realized, but we had a good time at least), and as such, I ended up dumping hours in research about barghest. Here's some interesting details: - Hellhounds or barghests are the devil's hunting dogs, they hunt people who made pacts with the devil in order to drag their souls to hell. They're supposed to be much bigger than the average dog (nowhere near the size of Barghest's final form tho lol), having black fur and bright red eyes, which are actually on fire (that's metal). - The skill "Foul Weather" is a reference to another trait of hellhounds: they affect the weather around them. Sudden torrential rain and electric storms are seem as signs that a hellhound (or more than one) are hunting nearby. Also, the cathedral in Cornwall refers to the most famous hellhound story: during a mass in a stormy night, a hellhound invaded the church, paralyzing everyone in fear, and circulated among the believers, as if searching for someone specific. It then proceeded to kill two men, and disappear with the flash of a lightning. The name more associated with this specific hellhound is "Black Shuck". - Hellhounds can be omens of impending death, yes, but they can also be fierce murder machines, tearing people down to pieces, or downright making them go up in flames. It is said that once they catch your scent, they will never, never stop hunting you. Not even holy ground stops them (as in the previous story demonstrated). Some stories also imply that people who are being hunted will see hellhounds everyone, never finding a true moment of peace, until they go insane. Sinister stuff. Anyways, I'm a somewhat recent growing Fate fan, your servant accuracy videos are some of my favorite things to watch lately, so keep up the great job !
