Was als Spaßprojekt in einer Küche in Dublin begann, ist eine beliebte Festivalband geworden: The Scratch mischen akustische Gitarren mit Metal-Elementen und irischem Folk - heraus kommt eine ganz eigene Mischung voller Humor, dargeboten mit starkem irischem Akzent.
The Scratch lieben die große Geste - hymnenhafte Refrains und dramatische Wendungen in Songs von Metalbands wie System Of A Down sind genau die Art von Songwriting, die The Scratch beeinflusst haben. Genauso zählen aber auch Pub Rock und Irish Folk zu den Einflüssen der Vier.
2017 macht sich die neu gegründete Band auf den Weg zum Rory Gallagher Festival in Ballyshannon und spielte auf dem Weg in den Straßen verschiedener irischer Städte. Eines der dabei gedrehten Videos geht mit über einer Million Views auf UA-cam viral. Darauf folgte eine Einladung ins "Whelan's" in Dublin und mehrere ausverkaufte Headlining-Shows in Irland und England.
Nach einer EP im Jahr 2018 bringt die Band 2020 ihr Debütalbum "Couldn't Give A Rats" heraus und entert damit die Top Ten der irischen Albumcharts. 2022 spielt die Band bereits auf über 20 Festivals in Europa. 2023 touren sie weiter, unter anderem in den USA.

Saw them last night open for Dropkick in Moline ILL. They IMO were more unique and more exciting to me than Dropkick. Truly amazed at them and their story. You guys rocked it!!You gained a new fan here for sure. Been blasting them all day today here at work. Got the photo with them (I was the guy who talked Dingle and Cahersiveen )Got the T-shirt to prove it. 😂 Thank you for the best set last night. Enjoy the US and I look forward to my Dublin visit in October (I’ll be watching for maybe some show dates then?)
