Great comparison. Where you said the P600 sounds symphonic I agree. VCO's I guess. I sold my Matrix 6 and SX240. I also prefer the layout, look and interface of the Prophet over the Polaris. The envelope speed doesn't matter so much for pads. Thanks again 🙏👊

@@VultureCulture I got an SX-210 for $20 when I lived in Florida and since it didn't have MIDI I gave it to my God daughters to learn keyboard playing on. went to see them a couple weeks later they had absolutely TRASHED the thing like they were member of The Who. Same for my cool red Yammy keytar .. they could see my temper rising when they saw me looking at they wreckage they'd produced.. it was the last thing I would have imagined I thought at worst they would shove it into a corner which is why I went by to see how they were getting on or if I should take them back.. I get a really odd feeling anytime I see a SX-210 or 240 demoed ever since.. I could have MIDI'd up the 210 for under $50 with some generic kit.. ;-( Programming was pretty easy with the fat smooth knob and the nice bright screen. Oh well, my God daughters survived that day.. I still can't figure out why they trashed those guys..

There are so many synthesizers and most of us want to have as many of them as possible. So why say of the 600 isn't like the SX-240 when it's actually a very unique instrument with loads of character. It's not for everyone I have learned, but I love it, including the steppiness and general sloppiness. I have other gear for hardedge envelopes.. like the MKS-80.

Another fabulous synth shootout! I'm here for the impure - spoiled sinusoids. One snob's 2 cents, both of these seem a bit redundant. They both sound great in certain frequency ranges. But you have Oberheims and a Chromas Polaris. Do you own an analog Stringer? Sometimes a one trick pony is a good thing. You have your goto for that sound and that feel. Maybe the Polaris does it for you and is the best stringer you personally resonate with. Robert Smith stuck with one stringer the Solina, it spoke to him. Nick Rhodes stuck by his Crumar Performer for several early records, Joy Division had their Arp Omni II ect...

No I agree, it's not worth keeping a vintage synth of this price just for string-machine sounds. I should really get a good string machine. For me, unfortunately the Prophet 600 and SX-240 are two phenomenal synths that I prefer a little less than my others, including synths like the Alpha Juno, DW-8000 and Matrix 6.

@@VultureCulture I'm in that headspace currently. Hunting for a vintage stringer piece I resonate the most with. Something that can't be replicated by a plugin emulation run through Tal sampler or a similar DAC emulation.

You can get a Subsequent 37 for the price of a Prodigy

Hi Vulture Culture, thank you for the video. Have you heard of imogen os for gligli? It gives much better envelope shapes and some extra stuff like vintage parameter similar to Dave Smith’s recent synths.

Don't diss the SixTrak ! I love mine and only paid $200 for it in NY ! But now the battery is dead and I lost all the patches I made.

I have two p600s and had one of them Gliglified. Not saying the guy isn't a genius but I prefer the character the unmodified P-600 has. I also have a B-800 so who needs the Gligli P-600.. am thinking of dumping the Gligli or restoring it to its original state. But then, I like loud detuned noisy music that's not too "cute". The OG P-600 excels at that.

Prophet 600 sounds like it has mid harmonics or something, I think it sounds a tini bit nicer. nothing you can fix with fxs these days they are very similar. sx240 sounds cleaner though and more stable.
