Thanks @Pirate LeStrange ... and yes, I have made a few for pistols with red dots. I cut a U-shaped notch out of the Kydex sheet before I heated it up, then after heating it, I wrapped the Kydex around the pistol with the notch aligned at the top where the red dot was...it worked out great!
@anthonyfranken3039 ... You can find the Kydex sheets on sale very cheap, so the holster I made in this video cost less than $5 to make. So it really depends on if you have the tools to make them, and how many you need to make. If you only need one or two holsters, then it would be cheaper and easier to just buy them...but in my case, so far I've made about 30 pistol holsters and 50+ magazine holsters...so for me, it was much cheaper to make them myself. I make the magazine holsters to use in my gun safe as well...I hang them on the inside wall of the safe to keep them all organized and handy when I need them.
@thepatriotsrock2 ... It will wear the finish over time with repeated use. More tape layers on the gun before putting it in the press will help. The only contact needed with the holster is the trigger guard area, because that's where the retention will be. I usually spray the inside of the holster with gun oil as well.
Awesome video brother! Did you ever make a kydex holster with room for a red dot?

Very interesting process, although I suspect much cheaper to purchas the item off the shelf?
