Really solid explanation. My dentist insists tinnitus is caused by teeth grinding. My ENT insists it is neural feedback. The dentist thinks it can be cured with a mouthguard (it wasn't) and the ENT thinks it is incurable. I'm looking into bimodal stimulation to see if that will work, as it is less expensive for me than flying to Ft Myers.

Have been living with tinnitus for about 10 years. It was gradual- off and on- over about a two year time span. Then it became full-time by 2011. It is a high-pitched hissing noise, reminds me of singing high-tension power lines. Recently, I had a couple days where I did not have the noise and I have no idea what made it stop. Then next day it was back. Also, I had noticed a few years ago, that if I had a lot of physical activity, such as working in the yard, cleaning house, lots of walking around, lifting or moving furniture for a day or two, exersise, it either temporary goes away or lessens to where it isn't as loud. However, later it comes back. Maybe it is a spinal/cervical connection? I used to get a lot of pain in my neck at my desk at work, but have not had that problem for a some time. Also, when I worked in a call center back in 2005-2007, I was exposed to some very loud high-pitched ear-piecing noises about twice or so per shift, that came through my headphones on outgoing calls. This noise all started about a six months or a year after leaving that job, so figured that was the cause. Now I'm not sure what the cause is.

I was looking for a person with similar symptoms for a long time and I found you! :) I have the same symptoms that with more effort my tinnitus subsides. This is due to the fact that we have a problem with the neck and the bent vertebral artery. The artery is compressed and does not supply enough blood to the head, and tinnitus begins. As you work harder the pressure rises and more blood is pushed through this artery and the ear ear starts to work well. When I came back from the garden yesterday, I had no squeak at all, I measured my blood pressure, it was 145/95 and the noise disappeared, when the pressure dropped, the noise came back. Like me, you had a problem with your neck and a bent or compressed artery. Need to test blood flow with contrast. What is your noise level on a scale of 1 to 10? Has it increased over the years? do you hear the pulse of blood in your ear? If

@@freetracklaserclip3704 - That's interesting. Saw a video awhile back where a chiropractor was explaining about, I think, the inner carotid artery, being compressed. That is possible. Another theory (or maybe not a theory) by Dr. Eli Wallack- he wrote "Dead Doctors Don't Lie"- says it's osteoporosis of the scull but I think he mentioned about the nerves being compressed from scull bone shinkage. Either thing sounds a bit hopeless. I work at home so a lot of sitting at a desk. It's bad when I wake up, is most noticable or when quiet. It doesn't pulse but is a steady, rather high-pitched, hiss.

Thank you for this clear presentation! I only have mild tinnitus, but I have long believed that my Eustachian tube dysfunction and trigeminal nerve discomfort are caused by an old injury in the cervical region. Unfortunately, here in Ontario medical specialists (in any field) are hard to find and most of them have learnt nothing since completing med school. If you have ETD your physician will refer you to an ENT specialist who will probably tell you that ETD is not a problem, or at best will advise you to use an antihistamine. It seems amazing in this day and age that we don't have doctors here in Canada who understand that spinal injuries and instability can cause neurological issues, but that certainly seems to be the case, from my experience. I have given up hope of ever getting any sort of help with my Eustachian tube dysfunction.

Watching this a year later... I have tinnitus(a high constant ringing). I get lightheaded from time to time. I have an inconsistent high systolic BP(one day it's good, the next it isn't). I've had a CAC scan and I have a little plaque in my LAD(index of 120). I've had my carotids scanned and their bilateral functionality was perfect. I have no other diseases, and a BMI of 18. I'm on a 40mg statin. No other medications. I'm a former athlete and have crashed many times cycling. Including a slow speed head on with a car(lucky to be alive actually, walked away. Mild concussion. Windshield glass in my shoulder).
I've recently had an MRI and have spinal Stenosis, caused by a combination of disc herniation (C2-C6), arthritis, and a modic type II observation on C4. I've never had a brain scan, or a diffused MRI to measure spinal cord health. And I have even worse issues in my lumbar spine. Luckily my thoracic spine is perfect.
Next week I see a Neurosurgeon.
So, weird question, would cervical spine issues increase ear wax production (on one side). And would these issues cause vitreous detachment?

Good afternoon from South Africa. At last someone that understands this..... After my huge car accident 2009. I was diagnosed with Genelized Diffused Brain damage and in a coma - TBI. (Thanks to heavenly grace I live today to tell the story) I saw quite a few Neurologists, Phycoligists, Drs, CT and MRI scans and and and. One Dr diagnosed me with Diffuse axonal injury. One Dr diagnosed me with PTSD. Another Dr said when I complained about the constant high pitch in my ears. That I have a mood disorder. None of the Drs believed me or simply do not know this medical condition. It's very difficult to get a good nights rest or study for exams with the constant noise in my ears. Any advice for me? Shalom.

I have had incredibly sensitive hearing in my left ear for around 4 years, that seemed to develop over night. To this day It's the same and worse. I get daily tinnitus, that worsens as the day progresses. I get upper left back pain right under the neck daily, really bad pressure head aches, and ear clogging in my left ear after eating, every single time I eat. I even have developed panic disorder because of how negative these symptoms have impacted me.
I have seen multiple ent's , audiologist, neurologist, and had mri done of the brain multiple times, and haven't been provided with any clue as to what's wrong, as of now.
I'm writing this now with bad anxiety as I have bad neck pain tinnitus and head pressure at this moment.
I have a cervical CT scan I am going to get done on Wednesday and I am hoping the doctor sees a problem that could be causing this.
Anyways, thanks for doing what you do, and providing comprehensive in depth information as to what could be causing peoples tinnitus an other symptoms, as it's i think overlooked at how negatively impactful it can be on peoples mental health.

An excellent video explaining three of my tinnitus sounds. But it does not explain why I can wake up at 3 to 4 am with no tinnitus and without moving it starts a few minutes later with either a loud hissing or rotary sound or both. This suggests a role for adrenalin / cortisol. To support that I find if I then go for a vigorous walk the tinnitus either goes away or becomes very low. However simply sitting in a chair can start it up again suggesting a role for the SCM, trapezium or splenius muscles pulling on the cervical vertebrae. I also see a role for the fascia in this problem. I also experience fullness in the ears, one or both with a sharp pain as well as deftness as well as trigeminal pain in my jaw but again intermittent. All this points to cervical instability linked to tight tendons caused by age - I am 84 and had this problem for five years but since it is intermittent it is more of an inconvenience than a major problem that I have learned to ignore. .

I hurt my thoracic part of my back which ended up going north to my neck causing cervical damage as well. I have asked a few doctors if my injury had anything to do with it and they all said no. It only started after my back injury. It was quite horrible at first where I couldn't sleep. I have a constant hum when it is quiet and would stop if there was sound like if someone was talking or a fan flowing. It's not as bad as before but does become more severe if I sleep wrong or from some upper body exercises.

She has to hold onto walks to walk in her house! Is this even consider tinnitus because it's not ringing or buzzing or whooshing etc?
2019 we found a surgeon that said middle ear resectioning of the tensor tympani and the stapedius and has helped with some patients so we went with that. IT WAS A MIRACLE!! It helped!! That was in August 2019..but it only lasted a few months and dealt with it on and off but it was "in a distance" sounding she said, And for the past 2 months its sooo loud it has incapacitated her, making her hv to use a walker in home . She lives alone and its breaking my heart that there seems to be no real answers . CT and MRI of brain and IACS are negative. Trying trileptal anti-seizure as dr said it may help. EMF - WiFi and what about the off the wall amounts of aluminum we are bombarded with in more ways than I can list. How many deaths have there been since virus ? Loss of balance and dizziness. One of the more widely told stories is how a chiropractic adjustment cured deafness- this is completely plausible- however there are quite a number of reasons for hearing loss. Think it’s individual and varied causes- I’m retired therapist of 45 yrs so worked daily with chiropractors- what I can say about chiropractic adjustments is the soft tissue is always involved and needs to be treated as well,if this is the cause or contributing cause. The American lifestyle is very much designed to sicken us . There’s a reason why some European countries refuse to buy us meats and agriculture- look up some research.

I've had a full set of MRI's done to see if a stent would reduce the intensity but I was told that I'm not a candidate for this type of treatment. I'm wondering if orthodontic or other treatments typically used for TMJ would help to correct this condition.

Wouldn’t this be fixed by Ballon Sinuplasty?

I have a steady type tinnitus That varies with time of day and am on a wait list for MRI. I have high RF numbers but ENT MD says it's not AIED. But maybe that's because it was my idea. Does MRI make sense or should I be going for US?

I was wondering if my ear humming could be from brain stem? My brain stem is turned up and the tonsils at the stem is lower than normal. Thank you

If I come to USA just to go to your clinic, because I have all these symptoms, what can you do for me that is not invasive ?
Will there be a case specific set of reeducation exercises etc after a diagnostic or is it possible to do these without coming to USA ?

Ok so now what? Find a doc who deals with cervical instability? It's that easy?
