  • How should we live in this temporary life?
We were created to live on earth with the high purpose to live with God-not for a hundred years or so-but for eternity!
Every individual instinctively strives for happiness. This desire has been implanted in our nature by the Creator Himself, and therefore it is not sinful. But it is important to understand that in this temporary life it is impossible to find full happiness, because that comes from God and cannot be attained without Him. Only He, who is the ultimate Good and the source of all good, can quench our thirst for happiness.
“I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live.”
    (Deuteronomy 30:19)
“Enter by the narrow gate; for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life, and there are few who find it.”
    (Matthew 7:13-14)
    ~The Foolish Rich Man:
“...I will do this: I will pull down my barns and build greater, and there I will store all my crops and my goods. And I will say to my soul, ‘Soul, you have many goods laid up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and be merry.’ But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’” (Luke 12:16-21)
“And as it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment.”
    (Hebrews 9:27)
"The Lord is always waiting for us to unite ourselves with Him in love; but instead, we drift further and further away from Him. We know that there can be no life without love. This means that there is no life without God, for God is Love. But His love is not according to the understanding of the world. The love that the world gives us consists of suffering and enslavement, because the spirits of evil interfere with it. There is a little bit of love, but mostly it is just enslavement."
    (+Elder Thaddeus of Vitovnica)
“The sons of the world consider distraction to be innocent, but the Holy Fathers consider it to be the beginning of all evil.”
    (St. Poimen the Great)
“The only thing permanent in this life is that everything is temporary.”
“Life is temporary...Death is permanent. If you love your life...love death…”
    (Unknown)
“When people are empty of Christ, a
thousand and one other things come
and fill them up: jealousies; hatreds, boredom, melancholy, resentment, a worldly outlook, worldly pleasures. Try to fill your soul with Christ so that it's not empty.”
    (St. Porphyios of Kafsokalyvia)
“Do not trust the mindset of secular people… Decide what you want most: The sympathy of the world or a return near to God?
    (St. Paisios the Athonite)
"If you give all your life
    to the earth, the earth
will give you a tomb; But
if you give your life to
    heaven, heaven will give
    you a throne."
    (St. Ephraim the Syrian)
“Struggle, my child, for God’s road is narrow and thorny;… for the toil is temporary and ephemeral, whereas the reward is great in heaven. Struggle and be vigilant with your thoughts. Keep a firm hold on hope, for this shows that your house is founded on the rock-and the rock is our Christ.”
    (+Geronda Ephraim of Arizona)
“We are temporary, very temporary. Let us not depart from this life having done harm, or even having been useless. Let us depart loaded with acts of kindness; 'full of good works and charitable deeds.’” (Mark 10:45)
    (St. Kallinikos of Edessa)
“The final goal of man is communion with God. The path to this communion has been precisely defined: faith, and walking in the Commandments with the help of God’s grace.”
    (St. Theophan the Recluse)
“Don't ever pay attention to anything earthly and unstable. Strive for the union of your soul with God.”
    (St. Amphilochios of Patmos)
It is only through our Lord Jesus Christ, that we can be forgiven and allowed access into the Kingdom of God. However, we have only one lifetime to get this right. Heaven is an honour granted to us not an entitlement. Just because you are an Orthodox Christian, does not imply complete remission of sins if you do not actively practice the faith accordingly.
Beloved, you must understand that this life is only temporary. God can grant us life as quickly as He can take life away. Remember to put the Lord Jesus first always. Ask God before doing something that may change your life forever. Pray more often. Repent your sins and be sincere in your apologies. Ensure you treat others with dignity and respect, without expecting anything in return. Above all, you must love the Lord Jesus Christ, with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. Do not forget all that Jesus has done for us, and place Him in the hope of our salvation.

Amin brother! Thank you for posting as always.
May the Lover of Mankind assist us with His grace through Panagia's all-holy prayers, so that when we fall before Him at the Dread Judgement, He may be pleased with us and accept us into His Glorious Kingdom.
