I haven't been able to find out much yet about this church. You could only drive right up to it with a tractor or decent 4WD. It looks like it has been abandoned for many decades. There is no trace of roofing material such as slates, so I assume that was removed for reuse elsewhere. I have seen many abandoned churches in Scotland over the years. It's sad that they effectively failed. If I could, I would love to restore it - but that's another pipe-dream....
@@finlargI think restoring the abandoned house would be more interesting and more use. I occasionally wonder whether it would be instructive to restore the ancient temples and momuments of Greece and Rome, but, in the end, I think they are fine as they are. They remind us that the "Gods" men have made have always disappeared with time. If I had my way, the huge cathedrals and churches which currently dominate our towns and cities would be put to use as concert venues and housing!
I think you can get such bikes on amazon. Before getting this bike for Christmas, over a year ago, I had thought I would like to get an e-bike one day. I still would. But it's a long term pipe-dream. I'm very happy with the bike I have and how it's helping me become fitter and stronger, after so many years of not cycling at all. Do you cycle?
@@finlarg yeah, I have a bike that I really did some work on and I put a Rohloff Internal gear hub. It’s too cold to be riding right now but but as soon as spring and summer comes, I generally ride about 100 miles a week. Six hours or so on the bike. You got a pedal to make it work. But it’s a lot of fun. Because you can just cruise and go 18 miles an hour on a bike consistently is a lot of fun. And I use it for deer hunting.
It actually looks like it’s in pretty good shape. All the wood stuff just rotted away or was taken away to be used or something else.

I don’t know if they have those in Scotland but you should get a fat Tire E bike. You can go farther faster with the same amount of effort.
