This short story "The Mark of the Beast" by Rudyard Kipling first published in 1890. It is a chilling tale that combines elements of horror, colonialism, and cultural conflict. Rudyard Kipling’s "The Mark of the Beast" is often regarded as one of his finest short stories. While it is considered an early example of werewolf fiction, its main focus is on supernatural themes, particularly black magic. Some other excellent horror stories by Kipling that I’ve read include: The Phantom 'Rickshaw (1888) At the End of the Passage (1890) The Strange Ride of Morrowbie Jukes (1885) They (1904) The House Surgeon (1909) The Return of Imray (1891) If you found this comment helpful, don’t forget to leave a like! 😉

Unknown Fact- Rudyard Kipling, raised 26000 pounds sterling for a benefit fund, for General Dyer ( perpetrator of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre ), claiming he was the "man who saved India"

Are you stupid? The story is told from the perspective of the author who is an Englishman. His views on India doesn't represent the views of this channel. There are plenty stories out there where racism and crime on humans are told in such ways, not every stories is made for you. That's why as a listener or a reader one is supposed to keep an open mindset. If this is all that it takes to offend you cannot blame someone else but yourself for having such a narrow minded perspective on things. Before spewing bs , try analyzing the time period when this was written and the person who has written it. If your religious views prevent you from listening to a story then it's nobody's but your shortcoming.
@@sarbanipatrachakraborty5826 It seems you misunderstood the story completely. The author wrote it as a commentary on colonialism and cultural conflict, with the plot centered around black magic practices in India. The leprosy patient in the story was someone who engaged in black magic and occultism, often referred to as a satanist. The religious leaders of the temple and local worshippers mistakenly revered him, believing he was divine. This patient, through his black magic, afflicted the author’s friend, and he was the only one who possessed the cure. Nowhere in the story does the author show hatred toward your religion or deity. Take a moment to think critically, and you might gain a clearer perspective on what the author intended to convey. Additionally, it’s worth noting that practices like black magic and occultism, which are often tied to superstition, still occur in some regions, including parts of India and within mostly Hindus.
