Ask Frost King: Can the Heat Cable be Used on a downspout?

Can the Heat Cable Kit be used on a drain or a downspout at my house?
The answer is no.
These cable kits are meant for water line pipes, if there's no water in the pipes, it's going
to get way too hot and it's meant for that.
Try using a Roof Cable Kit instead.
