I think it's unfair to beat down on the defense on a practice scrimmage. Offense almost always win scrimmage. Defenses are not hitting, pushing, or trying to injure anyone in any way shape or form.

DE stayed home and its man on the outside, play it on .5 speed and watch the absolute walk in that Barkley has after his cut. Wrong read, good outcome.

This practice wasn't anything more than a fan service. If this practice was anything like the ones we haven't seen, it's pretty clear why Jalen has looked good so far. The defense is either playing soft for the sake of Jalen learning a new system, the defense still can't stop the pass or both.
