Thank you so much for showing the green mode! Disabling this makes this access point actually usuable, the range was too poor before. Went from 16dBm to 20dBm, still not better than my old router, but a major improvement nonetheless!
Ah sorry, just found your response in the "held for review" section for some reason. Interesting that you have a 2.x firmware on a 1.x device version. I'll see if I can give that file a try, thank you.
Nope, won't accept that file... these things are finnicky. "You are trying to downgrade to a firmware version that is older than v1.0.3.0. You can choose a newer firmware to proceed further."
i would think strongly about upgrading again too wifi7 later this year when a clear mkt leader and affordable product emerges - sig higher throughput for witi7 but shop around
Thanks for a great video! About that obeyregpower setting: is there any possibility that it's the "regional power" setting? Different parts of the world have different max power rules for Wi-Fi.
For this model, all you have to do is configure them exactly the same. Use the same exact settings (key, security type, etc) other than the operating channels. You'll want non-interfering channels on each.
@@brandhark7935 I'd be curious to know what firmware version he's running. I suspect it's a software defect. There's quite a bit of info on it with DDWRT as well.
I wish I've seen your reviews sooner. I was undecided between wax610 and wax214 and went for the latter (cheaper and main feature of 610 depended on cloud). I do see random disconnects. Did you manage to get rid of them? I question how NetGear could release a product like this, my isp provided router was more reliable.
Nope. I spent way too much time trying to figure it out and trying different firmware. I got rid of the WAX214's and went with the WAX610's instead and have not had a single issue. There's something wrong with the firmware for those WAX214's and I don't know why they won't fix it...
ok one question if you have 2 of these. do they support roaming I have my office and the home I like to put something like this but I want to be able to go from my office to my house and it auto connect to the one with the strongest single.
Absolutely. As long as you have the same SSID and password settings on them, your devices can roam between access points seamlessly. I was running three of those bulky/old APs for the past few years to get the coverage needed.
@@HomeSysAdmin cool I just need to put also I want to make sure I get some that don't drop connections. I have some smart devices I have that I will need to set up with them. so having them lost connection would be pain some times. I will keep watching your reviews and see what would be best for me. like you reliability is a must.
"reliability is a must" I wouldn't buy this one then. I have my WAX610 in and it's been working flawless for about 24hrs now. I'll hopefully have a video of it up next week some time once I've had time to evaluate it a bit longer.
Bro .can you help me . I have NETGEAR AP AX3000 .but I want to set static IP address how to set .can you make video on this. I have no DHCP server. It is very urgent.
I did figure that out eventually but it makes no sense why they tell you to match v1 vs v2. Seems they need to spend a little more time on proper documentation of things, and this item isn't the only area.
Hey I've set mine up like this about 2 years ago, but if I type the IP into my browser now it doesn't load. I'm a 100% positive the IP is right and have tried on difference browsers too. How can I fix this?
The only things I can think of are to verify IP is correct (which it sounds like you already did) or see if it works after power-cycling it. If you're still unable to connect and know the IP is correct, you could try a hard reset using the reset pinhole but this will wipe all of your configuration/settings.
this access point appears to automatically run UpnP with no way to disable it from the GUI. (there's not even any mention of UpnP in the setttings/GUI). Maybe uPNP can be disabled via SSH? Or by some other means?
@@HomeSysAdmin thanks for the quick reply. However, when I run "net analyzer" (Android app), it shows that this AP has some UPnP functionality enabled. Others (more knowledgeable than me) have confirmed that their firewall logging shows evidence of UPnP activity coming from this AP.
Is there a possibility to change the beacon interval? Can't find this in the Netgear WAX214 manual or in any review on youtube. Would be interesting to know (also what max beacon interval you can set).
You cannot change the beacon interval on this model. I wouldn't recommend buying this honestly. Check the WAX610 video I uploaded shortly after, it's a significantly better product.
Yes, I was having trouble keeping certain devices associated. I ended up getting rid of them unfortunately. The firmware seems to be very buggy almost like it wasn't even tested before releasing.
I've heard great things about Ubiquiti but haven't used any of their hardware yet. Do you have any specific AP recommendations? I'll get another ordered to test out along with the WAX610 that's on the way.
@@HomeSysAdmin The AP U6 Lite, or U6 Pro depending on your needs or U6 LR which is their long range. These are prosumer and commercial grade. so you go a little differently about setting them up (provisioning them) with a ubiquity controller hardware, or software on your PC but just to set them up, once they are up and running, you don't need the software running continuously. I went with a UDM Pro which has a ton of network functionality and deep packet inspection that can tell you what each device on your network is doing, what it's accessing, how much bandwidth a specific device eats, etc. well worth the price IMHO

You haven't noticed any of your devices being kicked off? May I ask which firmware you're running?
@@HomeSysAdmin Hi, no never have been kicked off. Current Firmware Version:2.1.1.3

Could be the bandstering to prefer the 5GHZ bands, I always have they feature off.
I thought the same, that maybe it was stropping between band switching, but I had it shut off and it hasn't made a difference.

I got one brmad new for $30 can I use it as a router
No, this isn't designed to act as a router.
Hi, we can't limit bandwith for each wireless ssid?
If you have 5 access point. Then you have to configure each one separate. Is that right.?
On this particular model, yes - that's correct. There is no central controller or insight cloud management.

This is an access point, not a router. UPnP functinality would be on your router.
