Really interesting and useful to hear your thoughts on the subject. I guess the main takeaway is that we shouldn't be made to feel pressured into providing UVB one way or another - as you say it's personal choice 👍
i feed only mice to my breeders about 5-7 mice and do very well. rats take too much space in an appartement and could become too big if not kill in time for a ball python .for soft fur they are really hard to find (im in canada ) and they are very slow at growing and you need to make little group that dont kill each another. Baby ball python also thrive on hopper mice .
I also start my babies on hopper mice if they aren't interested in rat pups at first - they love them. I just find one rat a week easier than several mice for adults, and babies seem to grow faster on rats once past the two/three month stage in my experience. Are frozen-thawed an option for you? It's a shame soft furred rats are hard to get over there! Maybe soon they'll become more widespread in Canada?
Do you feel that the enclosure lighting for albino morphs should be lower than for dark-eyed snakes? Should albinos not be exposed to direct sunlight? As a Yank, I enjoy listening to your British dialect. But why do you say vittamin instead of v-eye-tamin, and albeano instead of alb-eye-no? 🤣
I think it should, yes. Albinos have a much higher chance of getting damaged eyes from strong light - and especially UV radiation. If UV is provided, it's best to only provide a low intensity tube ( l think there's a "Shade dweller" range available). Glad you enjoy the accent - I actually grew up in Indiana but any American accent I had has completely disappeared now 🙂
I’m enjoying your science based video pal, refreshing change !
Thanks!

Thank you for the feedback Darren! That's exactly what I was getting at 👍
