- For the final time on Kingslingers, it's new book week! For our last book of the show, we've decided to read Stephen King's 2022 novel: Fairy Tale. This is a new read for both Matt and Scott. This week we're introduced to our characters as we read chapters 1-5. So far, we're loving it!
Discussion Question: What is your favorite fairy tale?
Next week, Fairy Tale continues with chapters 6-10

Yes!!! I love this book and I can’t wait to hear your opinions on it. Great first episode!
Yay!
Kay they are doing that in the next series Flanagan’s Wake.
22:38 I think Scott really nailed why I formed an attachment to this book when I did. I read it when it came out and was still getting over an ex at the time. I needed an adventure to get me out of my funk and remind me why I enjoy stories and stephen king has always helped with that. Really cool thing to point out
I was waiting for episode one but I’m downloading this on Audible and catching up. I wanted initial reaction
I’m going to add a second comment to answer your end of video discussion question - my favourite fairy tale is not a specific story but a book that shares a collection of fairy tales across cultures as a way to help people reclaim their natural intuition - Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estés.
From the wiki summary: “Fairy tales demonstrate pathways for growth and give instruction on how to find one's own right way in the world. We may have lost the connection to our deep instinctual guide, but she is still there and can help us. Many women long for the deeply instinctual in a world where rationality thrives.”
This book starts each chapter with a historical fairy tale, stories passed down verbally through generations, and helps point people towards following their intuition and that deep inner knowledge that is often covered over by modern society and everyday activities. I found it so beautiful and moving, and it made me want to howl at the moon and live deep in the woods - maybe in a gingerbread cottage… 😂
I'm not sure if you already read doctor sleep. If not, do you take requests. I think it was a well-done squeal. The point of the book is overcoming trauma.
They're gonna cover it in the next podcast covering Mike Flanagan movies. They're gonna do the book and the adaptation and compare. You can check the website to see the schedule
I just started season 2 of this series on Spotify.. so good! Thank you for your insight . I was not a big fan of this story as I read it because Stephen kind said it wasn't supposed to be part of the DT series but after he finished writing it he realized it WAS part of the DT series, I disagree.. I didn't see any DT in this book and feel like he said that to improve sales . Your opinion?
