I think Jolie is awesome but I am sorry..no way did she learn to sing opera at the heighest level in 7 months..Maria sure didn't, Bartoli didn't, Fleming didn't, Sumi Jo didn't..etc etc etc. I mean, it's great that she put real time in learning to sing..it no doubt gave her a better understanding of the kind of training a singer on that level put in but come on..just use the real voice of the actual singer and have Jolie lip them
Angelina doesn't sing or have the appearance of Maria Callas. They should have respected her memory and professional career as a soprano. I'm not going to pay to see a movie that hasn't hired a real soprano to play as the "queen of the bel canto" Maria Callas.
Her father named her Angelina after a Greek friend on set, who was named aggeliki. She is Greek enough. It's not a film about her nationality, it's about her intimate persona through art. If the Greeks want their own version of Callas, they are more than welcome to produce it. Art and film are not a monopol.
