Gil is a swashbuckling, loyal pirate and the son to a man who is quick slick and whose neck is an incredibly thick. You know? Gaston! But I’ve always wondered something. Since he’s the son of Gaston why didn’t he become a hunter or a soldier? How did Gil become a pirate?

I really think Gaston's disapproval led to Gil becoming a pirate. Gil had never know who he really was and he hadn't had an "identity" before he became a pirate. He needed to know he belonged to a group, so he decided to turn into a pirate. I can understand why he did what he did.
If you remember the movie, Beauty and the Beast, Gaston was slightly insecure, because he always had to be around people. He was always needing to show his strength to show that he was still the coolest thing since sliced bread. If Gil was anything like his father, he would want to surround himself around other people that wanted and needed him. As most of the Disney villains were either pirates or sorcerers, there were not many options for Gil to chose. So when he heard his friends wanted a new crew, then he jumped at the opportunity to Ben wanted and needed by the new ‘It’ crew on the Isle.

What I want to know is which one of the Bimbettes is Gils mother - those blond haired, brown eyed triplets who were always fawning over Gaston - and if in fact his brothers are actually his half-brothers half-cousins. He looks more like them than he does Gaston.

Gil has the two funniest moments in Descendants 2 in my opinion.
What parts were they?
Michael Herrera The first is when he gets kicked out of the restaurant after calling Uma “Shrimpy”. The second is when he’s starting to realize who Ben is. You can just see the gears turning in his head while he’s figuring it out.
Yeah, that was really funny! What's also funny is that when I first saw the movie, it sounded like Gil called Uma "Shuriki".

What if Gil's mother had ties to the sea or something of the sort, and he rebelled against his father's wishes to be a man's man like him, and, unlike his two brothers, took more interest in his mothers backstory than his father's? I know it isn't likely, but it was a thought that went through my head while I was watching the video.

It’s obvious that Gaston favored his twin older brothers over Gill which is one of the reason why he joined Uma’s crew. The way I see it, this was his opportunity to get out of his family’s shadow.

All the vilains were brought back to life and sent to the isle of the lost.also there powers were taken.
Well this is in the Disney Channel movie Descendants universe. In the universe all of the villains were revived to be forced to suffer for their crimes on the Isle of the Lost and many of them had children when they were on the Isle. Thanks for watching!

Do a theory on if Mal and Evie could really be sisters, or if Uma didn't just try to get the wand for her mothers approval and pride in her, but instead do it for something on Auradon. Just an idea, you don't have to do it, but still love your videos no matter what
Brawn over brain, yes, but I felt like the books made him come off as a complete idiot compared to the movie. But in the film, I thought he was probably Gaston's least favorite son because he was so different in personality compared to the twins. I thought Gil in the film was portrayed sort of like a sweet, sensitive goofball, who valued being part of Uma's crew very much, which seems like the opposite of how Gaston would probably want his children to be, which is probably similar to why Hook hates Harry because he is not a captain and is taking orders from a woman, hence not at all like his father. But, I still enjoyed this video, and your explanation.

I don’t know why the hero’s of Disney are hating on the villains. Without Maleficent, Sleeping beauty would just be a normal princess. With out the evil queen, Snow White would have just stayed in her castle with her dad, never met the dawfs, and never found her prince. With out Cruela DeVile the pups would just be normal pups, with out Jafar Alladin would have never married Jazmine, without Ursula, Ariel would have never married price Eric, without Gaston, Belle never would have come back for the beast. She would have just stayed there for eternity.
In some ways these Disney “hero’s” should be thanking the villains for a Happily ever after.

I have not read the third book yet but I'm wondering. When does Gaston name his children? Unless he leaves them nameless for a while. How would he know Gil was unsuited for the name? Was it Gil's appearance at birth, personality traits as he got older? Do the three sons all have the same mother? Did people just not like him? I need to know! Great video Issac.

Gil is too funny like I love him sooo much like how Gil become so loved and what not when his father is bout evil as all get out
I think it was also that Gaston- and by extension, the twins- expected to have a FLUNKY- someone even less clever than they were, someone to trample on and make fun of, that they treated Gil like crud.
Think of how much like LeFou he can be- bumbling, fawning, and eager to please.
It ties into the fact that all of the VKs have something in common with their parents' NEMESIS. Evie grew up like Snow White, but with her mother focusing on not just housework but beauty. Carlos grew up being treated like a kicked puppy. Jay grew up thieving because it's how he could satisfy his greedy dad. Uma was eager to be Part Of A World that she couldn't reach.
I'm definitely a big fan of Gil and Harry. Especially Gil.
