A day out, we discover a town called Bellac. We also stumble across two brocantes (flea market). Peter discovers a rather hot 'healthy' drink. And Anna finds a bargain.
I am so grateful for the more frequent posts. Having to spend most of the day in bed is difficult and lonely, but your posts are so delightful and interesting. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. From South Africa
Definitely one of the best you tube channels to watch. Mr Peter drinking your ginger beer, hilarious, that scene could easily have been a Two Ronnie sketch. Every time a think about it I can’t stop laughing, a born comedian!
My old house used to be near a weir,,,the noise actually got on my nerves..I don’t mind a slow flowing babbling brook, but not the rush of a river water.no,and then there’s flooding which happened to us. What a lovely place ,but maybe a bit too quiet.lol...buy the carriage ..love it.
The idiom originated in the 14th century and it combines 'nook', being used from mid-1300s which means - a distant corner, with 'cranny' in usage since 1440 which means - a crack or gap. Another great vlog. I think you could have ended up with another kitty to take home 😁. I was wincing with you when you were drinking that ginger drink Peter lol.
You'd be surprised how many Americans do reaction videos to old British comedy shows, The Two Ronnies and Only fools and Horses are great hits! Thank you for a delightful half hour's viewing....... as usual!!
Really enjoyed your outing…so strange a ghost town..but interesting…loved the ride with the two of you…you brighten the town with your laughter. Look forward to Anna wearing her new hat…Peter you are so funny..pass the ginger beer please..ha,
(Moira Ashton) Fork handles- Four candles- 🤔🤔🤔 - Hilarious sketch in a hardware shop--- still makes me laugh after all these years... 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 what a pretty little place -but a shame it was shut, but at least you found a brocant open, Peter's face drinking that ginger beer!!!😂😂😂😂 great vlog as usual... 💗💗 xxxx
You two are just made for one another... you share such particular interests and know exactly what each other will like. It's heartwarming and enjoyable to watch. Not to mention your hearty humour... Thanks for bringing us along. :)
I enjoy your videos a lot! You're almost the only ones who film brocantes in a way that I can watch without getting seasick - thank you! It seems quite bizarre that so many towns in France are empty on Saturdays - one wonders how businesses survive. And Peter's shudders at each sip of ginger beer were really funny. I've had some extra-strong stuff and also shuddered at each mouthful.
Love the Show about!!! Ginger cringes great advertising!!! Be careful with pigs ears with Sweet Charlie - can get lodged in dogs throats!!! Thanks for sharing some joy!!! Toodles from Colorful Colorado!!!
What an enjoyable video to watch on a Sunday morning ! Thank you both ! What an amazing brocante with the fire, you could spend hours in there ?!! You both look like you are having a great time exploring the area and finding strange ginger drinks !!!
Another lovely watch. Thanks for sharing. When I first moved to Austria a siren used to sound every Saturday at 12 noon. I was told by a neighbour that it was a sign for the end of the working week. All the shops would close, including the cafe, in the village and it would become like a ghost town. I wonder if that’s what happens in Bella if it’s quite rural as my village was rural.
I always love to see you both, and see what y'all are doing! As you might have guessed I am from the deep South in the USA. We have a few brocant type shops, but not as great as the ones in France....I know no one here that is delightful as you two! What a nice Kittie you have! I have a large Calico that only wants to be in my bedroom..Love you both ,thanks for an always interesting Vlog🙋🤗👍
Bellac looks like they never got the email that lockdown was over! Hope you got your coffee in the end? I'm sure Australia had the 2 Ronnies. We did in New Zealand. Classic English comedy! Enjoying your vlog!
You two are looking very smart, thanks for the tour around Bellac. Loved the mill house on the river, but scary after heavy rain 🌧 hope they’ve got some flood defences on their doors and windows.
I remember the Two Ronnies very well! And I remember that sketch! It's sad that there isn't great comedy like that any more isn't it? Thank you for the tour of that pretty town, gosh those old buildings are amazing! Your new hat is very cute Anna, it should clean up really well. I was intrigued by that box of ballet slippers, they're for boys I think. Amazing brocante. Big hugs and much love xxx
My grandparents loved the Two Ronnie’s. When I visited I had to go to bed when it was on. What a beautiful old town, strange no one was around except for a lovely cat.
Back in my old home state of Illinois, there are Amish communities. In one of those, a family business is handmade brooms. Various sizes and styles. They actually ship around the US. Don't know if they ship global. But one of their styles looks like the one you have. But that one is very common. Believe that one is mass produced by a company somewhere. However, the Amish definitely believes in craftsmanship. They still have honor in their names. Wish more companies to pride in their workmanship. In the late 80's, I was taking business classes. One of the first things I learned was most companies products are "made to break". Even as a young adult, I always suspected as much. Lol.
Thanks for taking us along for your drive and walk. I think the kitty was the only one living in town. The cable car would be nice to set up a a tea house. Use the other one as a chicken or duck house. All sorts of possibilities. I guess all the residence of the town are shopping in the flea markets too.
PLEASE! PLEASE! DO not APOLOGISE for anything! ignore people. what you are doing is lovely, raw, natural and this is NOT TV its home videos of a lovely couple sharing. I appreciate that you are taking us with you. People need to be GRATEFUL and APPRECIATIVE not critical and negative! PLEASE ignore them. I love what you do just as it is and you need NOT change ANYTHING. love you too! and Thankyou for taking us with you! ❣❣🙏🙏💐
Ginger drink so funny 😂😂😂 Fork Handles Four Candles 😂😂 Love to see your new hat cleaned up& looking like new 🤗 Did the cat find her way home 🤔 Hope you stayed safe in the stormy weather .🍀 Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Sunday morning, cup of tea, wet Pacific NW rainy day but I'm traveling to French villages and brocantes with Peter and Anna. Yes, it is a wonderful life 🙂
Both "nook" and "cranny" date back to the middle ages, 1300 and 1500 respectively. The earliest I could find them put together in print is in the book: Scottish Scenery, Or, Sketches in Verse, Descriptive of Scenes Chiefly in the Highlands of Scotland : Accompanied with Notes and Illustrations : and Ornamented with Engravings by W. Byrne from Views Painted by G. Walker by James Cririe, published in 1803.
The 'Butchers Block" is a Bakers / Confectioners bench. The marble part for pastry and that beautiful curved wooden part is where dough would have been moulded day in, day out for years. What an amazing find! Thanks for the trip out...always a joy. 💞🥳🥰
Thanks for a lovely afternoon out, (Sunday night here in Aussie), sorry we couldn’t get a coffee, i am shuddering with you whilst your drinking your can of “ginger”, lol.
Me too! I remember getting my first taste of homemade ginger beer when I was about 11yrs old. I thought it was like lemonade and took a great gulp of it. It hit the back of my throat and stung like mad making my eyes water...never touched it since.
Please don't wear masks they don't work.. Love the idea about the doors Anna great idea! That place is huge!! I am in love with this place! the bar and the fire.. wonderful!
This beautiful village seems to be observing lockdown...during a pandemic with variants, just might be a good idea. When I saw the "dark side" of your barn,I saw $$signs...many euros if it could be converted into two holiday apartments.
Hi Anna and Peter Love your vlogs, here in Australia we did see the two Ronnie’s and they are so funny. Sometimes when I need a laugh I watch them on UA-cam.
That was quite interesting seeing all the lovely old buildings and houses on the river. Strange seeing cars parked but not a single soul walking around
Bonjour Anna and Peter today you both made me laugh first with the painting on the wall and Anna with the broom stick. Also the really tasty ginger drink so funny. I thought nooks and crannies was meant for cleaning hence to get to all the nooks and crannies, to get all the dust and cobwebs out. Loved the hat you bought you suited you down to a T. So funny the sketch with the fork handles( four candles) great humour, I wonder why there was nothing open at the town as normally you would always find something open for the 2hr lunch time? Loved watching Peter and Anna xx
Yes, tanneries were very smelly and polluting. Our town is Scottish 12th century and we too had tanneries & breweries by the river. The town was famous for its leather boots & as in most towns the guilds made sure it was virtually a closed shop.
Nooks and crannies - the smaller or less accessible parts of a place or object which are not normally noticed. In the weeks before Christmas, we would scour the house, searching all the nooks and crannies trying to find our presents.
Hi Anna & Peter You two are awesome, animals can sense kind loving people who love animals .What can I say with your ever growing brood plus 2 baby chicks on the way ,a frog in your kitchen ,and a cute kitty following you in your town tour .your a cross between animal whispers, and the pide piper.lol careful with the ginger beer Peter some times there strong enough to strip wall paper from the fumes alone .lol thanks for another tour of your amazing French country sites.💓
That was a lovely little trip you took us on! I love your idea of the buckets as flower pots Anna, I have some in my garden and I have to say they look good! Just a mention about the "plastic wood"...it's very, very slippery when ice forms on it, I've experienced that, so I'm happy to hear you're going with wood...much safer. I really enjoyed this vlog on this Sunday morning in British Columbia, Canada!
I just love watching both of you. The way you are with each other makes me smile. Nook and crannies and the fork handles, four candles cracked me up reminds me of the good old days. You are lovely people.xx
What a lovely town,so interesting. That carriage, wow. You did made me laugh with the drink., you won't be getting that again.haha.Take care. Love and hugs. xx
When you were walking down that hill I was worried about tracking back up again 😂😂 if you mention thrifting or charity shopping in your title you might find a new audience also 👍👍👍
I really enjoyed going along with you two today! Your kind and happy faces keep a smile on mine. I love your sense of humour and your infectious laughs and giggles. God bless.xx
Good morning, Anna and Peter!! The town of Bellac was so quiet and spooky!! It's as though the inhabitants decided they just were not going to participate!! Strange!! No matter, it was a fun little jaunt and interesting items at the brocante!! Peter, I'm trying to imagine your cable 🚗 idea!! European style rather than San Francisco, I suppose!! Anna, the hat is quite cute and you will wear it in style!! Love to all, Winnie, Tom, Stormy, Brambles, Charlie, James, Dinosaur & crew!!! USA
Prune juice will cause that same facial reaction when taste buds realize what you've done. What a lovely stroll, did you find out why everything was closed? Hope it wasn't due to sickness. Take care ❤️
Good to be able to hear Anna more clearly as she was holding the camera mainly. You need to invest in another microphone for Anna when she is outside or in the barn though and you're doing the filming. I think those galvanised buckets are a great idea for planters Anna.
It's a pity that the Bellac town was closed on your Saturday prominade. Nice to see them open such restaurants and shops. Luckily you discovered a Brocante open. So many nice things to buy. Btw Peter what's the name of this place where that Brocante you discovered. Thanks!
A new broom sweeps clean, but an old broom knows all the corners...Peter, if you haven't done so already, try root beer. I tried it once in the eighties, it was like drinking liquid toothpaste......thanks for posting.
Just love it! You two are like the 2 Ronnies, so funny (in a good way!) We went to Bellac a few years ago, mid week, it was much more lively than your visit. I find that on cold(ish) days most French people just stay indoors, I'm interested to know where the last shop is, where you bought the plant pots and screws, it sounds worthy of a visit! We're always on the hunt for an interesting shop. Aren't old sayings/idioms brilliant x
skis and "poles". they use the old "bubbles" for outdoor restaurants like Anna said for the garden. Perfect covid solution! Oh I've seen that butcher block with the cattle heads before, LOVE it.
You got me laughing with the ginger "beer" drinking, harder than wifey laughed. I'm a Micheegan, USA girl and we have the original: _Vernor's - Ginger Ale,_ founded in Detroit, MI and yes, it does "hit you." Even if you inhale it as you go for a swig, you might end up sneezing or coughing - just how we love it. Of course it isn't beer, but it *is* carbonated, which is half the fun of drinking it - as the the bubbles jump up to your eyes and nose (with an open cup).
Lol. That explains it! With the artwork highlighting Satan, perhaps it a village of vampires 🧛♂️ lol. That's why you don't see but a few people during the day. Hahaha
Tannery hence the saying spend a penny 😁 nooks and crannies sounds Scottish but like you thought Anna most sayings come from nautical references so I immediately thought the same but going by previous comments maybe not . Well like Bellac I have no life so spending time looking these things up 😉 what are the chances of finding those cable cars that you wanted 🤣 would be a great idea though🤔I would be in that Brocante for days 😍another gem , 🍷
That was fun, Anna and Peter. You know the cat followed you just because you were alive!! The hat is fabulous, although you missed a €1 white pot there. I’m trying to de-clutter, so I would be no good at those brocantes 😔. I do enjoy your visits though. Regards from Susan at Hobart.
That ginger shot is straight ginger juice! You're supposed to down it, then follow it up with something calmer 😂. However, it's very good for you and will help to chase away anything that ails you. Lovely vlog, as usual 💕
The modern take on”Art” wasn’t good art. The town had charm and history that was much more beautiful. I loved the metal gazebo for your garden. I can see that in the open space by your lake.
You two are so funny, what a strange place, only a cat occupying a whole town, I think Scotty beamed them all up lol, the cat must have thought thank goodness for that, humans! Gorgeous place though, at least you got to go to a brocante, I just love your vlogs, the ginger drink was funny,
I love you two...I actually started singing..
Chim Chimney, Chim Chimney, Chim Chim cher-ee,
A sweep is as lucky as lucky can be...😉
I am so grateful for the more frequent posts. Having to spend most of the day in bed is difficult and lonely, but your posts are so delightful and interesting. Thank you for sharing your lives with us. From South Africa

Love watching you....
Thanks x
Another great video, never get tired of Anna’s giggle , you’re fun folks to hang out with .
Such a lovely and very funny day out with us all....Thanks so much you gorgeous people 👏👌💞
Lovely video. You guys look so happy and relaxed now. This new lifestyle really suits you x
Really enjoyed your outing…so strange a ghost town..but interesting…loved the ride with the two of you…you brighten the town with your laughter.

I know we have Thomas' Original English muffins over here lol (America) with lots of nooks and crannies for the butter.
Peter’s face with that drink so funny 🤣🇬🇧
I couldn’t stop laughing whenever he took a sip 🤣
You two are just made for one another... you share such particular interests and know exactly what each other will like. It's heartwarming and enjoyable to watch. Not to mention your hearty humour... Thanks for bringing us along. :)
Maybe Bellac was closed due to the many french public holidays. Enjoyed the humour. Thanks.
Bellac's always closed.
Haha we call it Bellend 😁 we had a good meal in the Cheval Blanc. Not far from there is La Marmite definitely worth a visit.
I enjoy your videos a lot! You're almost the only ones who film brocantes in a way that I can watch without getting seasick - thank you! This Aussie remembers the two ronnies very well😂. Especially the hardware store sketch. “I won’t some ose “ 🤣🤣
Thank you both for taking us along on you day journeys. You open our eyes to that part of the world.
Another lovely watch. Thanks for sharing. When I first moved to Austria a siren used to sound every Saturday at 12 noon. I was told by a neighbour that it was a sign for the end of the working week. Pretty town absolutely love the house with the angel and the little statue sitting in the wall. I love the sound of your foot steps Miss Anna!
I always love to see you both, and see what y'all are doing! As you might have guessed I am from the deep South in the USA. I'm sure Australia had the 2 Ronnies. We did in New Zealand. Classic English comedy!
Enjoying your vlog!
Yes I remember seeing reruns late at night of the Two Ronnies. Australia gets most of UK programmes. Love the English humour!
I’m in Australia and yes we know two ronnies
Yes, Australians of a certain generation grew up on mostly British comedy :)
You two are looking very smart, thanks for the tour around Bellac. Loved the mill house on the river, but scary after heavy rain 🌧 hope they’ve got some flood defences on their doors and windows.
Very odd..I just read your comment and thought that’s not mine, and then realised that my name has one more letter than yours!
I really enjoyed this video. Have a lovely day. 🥰
That was a lovely visit to the village, and bye the way I am in New Zealand and we do know the 2 Ronnys lol
I remember the Two Ronnies very well! And I remember that sketch! It's sad that there isn't great comedy like that any more isn't it? Great vlog again , loved the walk you did and the river. Think Anna was a vet in a previous life as she is attracts animals and is so good with them x
Thanks for taking us along for your drive and walk. I think the kitty was the only one living in town. The cable car would be nice to set up a a tea house. Use the other one as a chicken or duck house. All sorts of possibilities. I guess all the residence of the town are shopping in the flea markets too.

What a bargain that vintage hat was! Well spotted 😁

Lovely walk about and lovely day.... Thank you!
Delightful video. Thanks for taking us along on your adventures. We know the Two Ronnies here! Love from snowy Toronto 🇨🇦💜😊
Hi Anna & Peter
You two are awesome, animals can sense kind loving people who love animals .What can I say with your ever growing brood plus 2 baby chicks on the way ,a frog in your kitchen ,and a cute kitty following you in your town tour .your a cross between animal whispers, and the pide piper.lol careful with the ginger beer Peter some times there strong enough to strip wall paper from the fumes alone .lol thanks for another tour of your amazing French country sites.💓

You two are the nicest people ever! Loving your vlogs so much!
Here in Texas, USA, there is a brand of English muffins called "Nooks and Crannies." Very good.
I grew up in Australia watching British TV shows, we had The Two Ronnies, but .my favs were 'To The Manor Born' and Kenny Everett.
My lovely Sunday was made erven more lovely with a hot cup of tea and almost 30 minutes with Miss Anna and Peter. Great vlog, love you two.
Prune juice will cause that same facial reaction when taste buds realize what you've done.
What a lovely stroll, did you find out why everything was closed?
Hope it wasn't due to sickness.
Take care ❤️
Anna is so funny "if you want to wake up your face in the morning", best line ever! ;)
Tree looks fantastic Anna you will definitely need to get one.
Good to be able to hear Anna more clearly as she was holding the camera mainly. You need to invest in another microphone for Anna when she is outside or in the barn though and you're doing the filming. I think those galvanised buckets are a great idea for planters Anna.
Anna, what a GREAT FIND the hat is!
Always love your adventures.
When I was young, decades ago, we used to call them "Crooks & Nannys" ...lol 😁
We definitely know the Two Ronnies in Australia, loved their humour.
Your videos are wonderful. Loved that brocante. Negotiations needed for the plastic decking. You can do it.
Jolis chapeaux, celui que vous portez est lumineux comme un soleil 😉
We had the 2 Ronnies in NZ and Australia , incredibly funny chaps . I did giggle a lot thru your vlog . I meant to say I do love your cape Anna
It's a pity that the Bellac town was closed on your Saturday prominade. Nice to see them open such restaurants and shops. Luckily you discovered a Brocante open. So many nice things to buy. Btw Peter what's the name of this place where that Brocante you discovered. Thanks!
Great video. You almost took the cat home, didn't you.... 🐱.

You can soak the bottom part of the broom to improve the sweeping power of the broom and also elongates it’s life
A new broom sweeps clean, but an old broom knows all the corners...Peter, if you haven't done so already, try root beer. I tried it once in the eighties, it was like drinking liquid toothpaste......thanks for posting.

Enjoyed seeing you while having coffee from 🇨🇦
That ginger shot is straight ginger juice! You're supposed to down it, then follow it up with something calmer 😂. However, it's very good for you and will help to chase away anything that ails you. Lovely vlog, as usual 💕
14:10 I would never ever come out of this shop :) I would love to have shops like these there in Lithuania :)
Gorgeous place though, at least you got to go to a brocante, I just love your vlogs, the ginger drink was funny,
I like those ocean liner posters too!
