I tried your recipe for the sauce. It came out GREAT! I made minor changes such as using Garlic salt instead of Kosher salt. Also added 2 TSP olive oil and washabi. My chili paste is a different brand too. I added the toasted sesame to the salad instead of mixing in the sauce. Thank you again Julie ❤
Thank you for the recipe! I usually buy a seasoning packet and simply add cubed tuna to it. So delicious. But, store hasn't carried it so this is perfect. I like my poke on tortilla chips or in crispy tacos!
Thank you for the video and recipes‼ I have fallen in love with poke bowls, the thing is the places that make them can be soo expensive so you showing me how to make them at my own home is amazing ❣
Ooh..I'm so glad your search is over..haha! The best part is that you can totally tweak the recipe to adjust it to your taste preferences. You can't go wrong!
Thanks Jeannie. As you know, it's been a rough road and challenge at times but we're thankful we got this season out and somewhat back in a rhythm. Still trying to improve our work flow but I know we'll get there! Thanks for trying so many of my recipes!
I live in a tiny, primarily white town in North Wales, so I struggle to get hold of any Asian food (which is my fave!) but I’m gonna try my darnedest to get hold of these ingredients! 🤤 My main question is about safe-to-eat tuna: a lot of recipes call for sushi-safe tuna, which is something I just cannot get hold of. Can anyone offer any advice on buying safe raw tuna from a supermarket?
yum i have been wanting to make poke from home thanks for the recipe :) this looks so delicious and refreshing! that is a really nice piece of tuna too!
Let me know if poke is better served at room temperature? When I eat it out of the fridge its so cold??? Should I leave it to reach room temperature then eat it?
Thanks so much for your input~! We will hopefully come out with a next season, but we're in the brainstorming phase now and don't know when exactly that will be. But we will definitely continue to put out more cooking type of videos regardless!
Your recipe looks delicious! I love poke after eating it so much in Hawaii. I’d like to make it at home now in CA. Do you know if Hmart or Mitsuwa has sushi grade tuna? Can you buy the tuna fresh and make the Poke?
Yes both of those places should have it...both fresh and frozen. As long as it is sushi grade, you can buy it fresh and use that too. I just like frozen bc freezing ensures that any bacteria is killed off...plus I can keep it in my fridge until I need it.
hi! I have a quick question. I bought frozen pre-cut ahi tuna for poke. What is the best way to thaw it. It is currently vacuum sealed. Should I be taking it out of the vacuum seal and putting it in the fridge? If so, should I put the pieces in a ziplock and then in the fridge? Also are you supposed to wash the tuna before serving it? First time making tuna poke so any insight would help!
dont defrost in the vacuum seal! i made that mistake. it leaves all the fishy water inside the tuna. look up the salt water method. warm salt water, then rinse, and then thaw in refrigerator wrapped in paper towels.
The Yooniverse has spoken. I was JUST thinking that making poke at home would be a good idea and your video came up! Looking forward to using your recipe, yay! :D
YES! But just don't know in what form. We usually take a break between seasons anyways, so we have time to regroup and make plans for the next one. But we're not sure if we do plan to do another season or just do shorter quicker cooking tip videos, so that we can post more often and consistently as well. Thanks for asking!
All the poke bowl recipes have dissapointing marinade/sauce. Only soysauce and sesame oil or some with vinegar. But to me a good sauce needs also vinegar/lemonjuice AND sugar like yours. That why im gonna try your recipe. But im not so sure with the koscher salt
Don't believe it's good because of couple reasons marinate vegetables and tuna together and extra salt. Aya salt should be only on cucumber and spring onions and cutting spring onions such a big chunks😒
Hey Gwynn, you can direct your comments to me, cuz I’m a real person who actually reads these comments. Sometimes my hair is up, and sometimes it’s down. What can I say...it’s a show and I film a lot of them weekly. Sorry to see you go.
Love how you explain the recipe so well. Thank you!
Thank you for the recipe, I made this tonight for dinner and the family loved it.

Totally...and whatever else you want...it's a completely flexible recipe and even I change it from time to time when I make it.
I have raw tuna i just bought. Its frozen and I really wanna eat it raw but a little worried about food poisoning
you have to buy "sashimi grade".

Less talking.but straight to the point pls

How bout you try it first and then let me know? It's hard to tell just by looking at something and guessing whether it will be good or not.
I can't watch her with all of that hair over the food
